The people that launch cans in newbie systems to purposfuly target and gank noobs are lame, real damm lame. CCP should start to pick em off and ban em imo.
Most of the people that fall for it are newbs, they dont read the warning box because they are excited and in a rush to play and then lose their first frigate that they have spent all day trying to earn.
I think its too harsh a lesson and is just an abuse of a game mechanic

How is it too harsh a lesson that one should read warning messages? It's not as if they pop up all over the place randomly; they're shown for a reason.
This is similar to someone complaining that their face was blown off when they threw an aerosol can in a campfire, and that they couldn't have known better because the do not expose to heat or flames warning wasn't big enough.
Pretend your a clueless noob, then read the msg.

Doing this to blow up noobs is griefing as the person doing it has nothing to gain, they are using a game mechanic in a way that was not really intended so hypotheticaly it is an exploit, any real gamer wouldnt do it.
On my other char I sometimes drop a can called cruiser or friagte 1v1, it can be fun, but doing it intentionally to catch out noobs is wrong.
Doesnt the msg box just say, that you will be flagged as a criminal and doesnt mention being shot at, alot of new players were told before they joined that they cannot be shot at in safe space and are completly ignorant of game mechanics, it doesnt make them stupid, nobody started the game with full knowledge.
I think its a very cheap and nasty way to kill people, regardless of how many people say that ccp allows it.

actually it could be much more obvious... it doesnt explain anywhere that criminal flagging allows the involved parties to open fire on you
when i read the message the first time i didnt know it and had to use the search site to find out what criminal flagging actually does
it is a "trick" because some people name their cans "Free stuff"
The msg to go into unsecure space is pretty clear and still nebies jump in there, ccp should know to make the msgs much clearer, I know that you cant hold their hands through every step, but from a rp perspective people will know all the ins and outs before finishing flight school.
As we are on to warnings, when you set autopilot to low sec or a route that goes through low sec you should get a warning then that you can get killed there.
A small percentage of new chars traveling through low sec are alts carrying valubale loot, its hardly fair on real newbies that they get ganked because older players are too afraid to travel with their main because their alliance is at war.

You people love going off topic and flaming about stuff that has nothing to do with what i asked.
I'm not complaining about getting killed as i'm not dumb enough to fall for this, and i agree with you all that if someone doesn't listen to the warnings then its their own problem.
Its a simple enough question and i got my answer.
I swear if you guys aren't flaming someone your not happy.
It has become the "cool thing" to make the funniest, wise-ass remark that one can think of. My theory on this is, they think they will gain notoriety and fill some sense of being popular. Most likely cause they cant do it in game.
My Dad can beat up all your Dad's.....
And to quote the Human Torch, "Flame on!"
Dont be silly, my Dad is bigger than your Dad, he would kick your Dads ass
