In an EVE perspecitve we can, however assume this to be true:

It's actually quite simple.
You build 10 satelites and fit them with ion drives (which are no longer science fiction today). Also equip them with a bit of CPU and sensors and give them mass analysis capability (no new science here today...) Send them to Oort cloud way behind Pluto. Find some nice jiucy rocks n km in radius where n >15. LEt's say you found 2 rocks, 2 satellites got destroyed while getting to the spot so you have 4 satellites per rock. Well simply land, dig in, and use the ion thrusters to stabilize the rotational movement and then slightly alter the orbit sunward. With some math (again nothing "not-doable") You can hit any planet you wish. Oh any you must have a couple of hundred years at your disposal since ion thrust takes ages to come to any real speed. But it DOES come to real speed in due time.

Gotta get the resources to build drivers with a size big enough to actually move a rock That big

Nope not really a problem. You need quite normal sized thruster. As i said - you need a couple of hundred years to do it. No matter what the thruster size, the rock will move in the opposite direction of the thrust once you start it up. The question is only the time.

wouldnt work - assuming you want the whole planet destroyed you would need a substantially larger object to impact the earth than a mere asteroid.

Yes well that's when the question of "What do you mean by "destroy"?" comes into equation. To me the wipe out of all life forms on a snigle rock, third from the sun, is destruction enough. To some others who've seen the orginial star wars : a new hope and how D. Vader and Grand moff Tarkin destroy Alderaan is how a TRUE destruction should take place. But tbh that's even easier. Put a satellite at the fifth lagrange point at Eart - Sun distance. (yes there are five lagrange points (4 n 5 are same, just opposite directions.)). That satellite is like VERY big, well... ok not SO big. Let's say it has an ion drive which helps negate an effect that i will talk about... Ok this sattelie has like a very big mirror screen (if round - 50 km in radius? - didnt make a calc but the energy flux amount must be staggering) which only reflects...well ok which MOSTLY reflects infrared waves. The ion thrust engates the photonic flux which tries to push the satellite away from the sun. Now turn the rays to earth, aim for one spot only( well u cant since earth is rotating, but u can cover most of the earths surface in a few days). Well soon enough the atmosphere will be like very hot. Have some luck and you might have too much CO2 in the air making the Earth another Venus. If you dont know what's wrong with Venus, go check it up on Wikipedia. Ok for some ppl this ain't destruction enough. Give me a few moments to think up how to make the sun come grab the earth.... V.

Got it. The idea is so simple it's actually ridiculous
Go and be a scinetist. Think of a way to make all ppl go hibernate for about 3 bill years (with no ill effects so that when the civilization wakes up it can savour my idea to the fullest)
Anyway put all humans to rest for 3 bill years.
The dolphins will be long gone by the time we wake up, saying thanks for all the fish , feeling sorry for the poor sods (us), Even elephants will become the dominant race by then and will have gotten lost among the stars when we wake up.
Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth and even myth is long forgotten by the time the ages that gave it birth comes again. The age of man. Wind flew across.... err ok not so much of "The wheel of time".
Let's say we wake up. And what do we see?
A moronic F****** big sun right on top of us. Earth being suddenly very hot, very molten. Air is scarce, no water and well we woke up in hell. Without dying. We roxor.
In another few seconds ... or years the sun comes swallow the earth. No ****ting fellas.
Ok. Who's gonna think of how to make ppl go hybernate (for 3 bil years)?

one should ask - do you put the energy directly into UrAnus or just slap it about a bit, you know - drop something on UrAnus

It's nice, small, and so far out that noone but a few astronomers would notice it had gone missing. And those can be dealt with
