How about various other skills that enhance your attributes via a secondary effect? I mean for example (this is just an example it doesnt mean anything)
Say the primary effect of missile bombardment gives you +5% in rate of fire, but as a secondary effect if gives you 0.5% increase in perception? alone with various other skills giving secondary minor advancements it would be a good way to even out the odds againts noobs and pros.....
Perhaps even having 2 versions of skills to learn like the normal ones and possibly "DREAD Missile launcher bombardment" and only named skills such as this give you minor attribute bonuses?
Just a thought

Edited by: Jan Riksma on 20/03/2006 14:30:02 sorry, no extra skills to improve your attributes. Its just a time sink and doesn't improve to do stuff ingame. I suggest that CCP give extra points to everybody or do it so like this; how longer you play the game, the better your attributes gets..everyday you play 0.001 get added to your attributes. This way CCP reward players who stick with the game and make the playerbase happy. But plz no more learning skills.
Cheers,
Jan

Why add more learning skills, why not modify the ones that are already there? I'm thinking that Learning 5 should emphasize that you're pretty good at studying, so you should be able to train a skill up to level 5 without having to click "train now" between levels. No cross-skill queueing, but automatic queuing between levels of the same skill.
Treat it like "Hey, I really wanna know how to fly that ship! I'm going to sit on my keister and study it till I can't study no more!" And if you're maxed out on your learning skill, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect to be able to do that.

Let's just say today they released both the Elite and the Uber learning skills. It'd take a year to train them. A year.
The difference in training speed would take a decade to pay off, and in the mean time, everyone who didn't train them would be at a distinct advantage because they had an extra year to train "useful" skills.
A decade? Honestly...

Edited by: Grozen on 20/03/2006 19:12:05 I don't think adding more skills would help i think the best that could be done here is lowering the time thats needed to train all skills ingame. Some ppl have life and i don't like to play this game 5 years just training skills some ppl want to reach the fun sooner than that.I somehow don't imagine myself 40years old and"omg only 3,5 years left for uber learning rank 5 weeeee my son will be so proud!".

Actually, this is quite brilliant.

Yay for more learning skills
Oh and higher level implants too!!
Oh we also need +4 and +5 pirate implants!!
Oh and get those boosters rolling on out
Maybe even a Faction ship designed by XenTech(when reverse engineering comes out) that gives 2% to all attributes per level.
Anyway, more learning skills would be good, and who cares about the noobs like me getting advantages on the old guys, most noobs drop out of the game anyway so no worrys there. --- Wolven Elite Guard - Currently recruiting |

You would probably on make one, get in it, and then destroy the BPO so that only you could have the that unique item and become the best learned character in eve forever. --- Wolven Elite Guard - Currently recruiting |

admit it, you cant wait to do the maths for it
Itll make his head explode! Then who will tell us with understandable reasoning why we shouldnt bother with logic 5 or whatnot?!

seriously, does this game need more learning skills? I have to say, advanced learning should be more than enough. If you need more, use attribute boosters, sheesh.. ------------------ seeking freedom... **requiring help regarding signature size |

Wow. +10 max for four minutes.
A better idea would be for "overclocked implants" with variable half-lives for jump clone characters. +10 implants that might last you 2-4 weeks' time due to their modified nature.

Signed.
Let the "uber" skills have requirement of corresponding advanced learning skill at lvl4, while the superuberomega ones prereqs of adv/uber at lvl5... That should let noobs get to a decent level a bit faster.

Hmmm. I like this idea. It actually gives me some reason (other than bragging) to train my advanced learning skills to 5.
I think that Tripoli is actually trying to become Jovian.
And geez, I've always wanted Charisma trained to 42 points.

So now not only do I have to log on all the time to change skills, but I have to get on every 4 hours to buy these implants .

Ya know I was wondering about that too. Hopefully it's something that can be set up to automatically keep using the boosters even when offline. Would be a real shame to have to manually use these every 4 hours. ---

Edited by: SonOTassadar on 20/04/2006 08:11:46 Because I would actually train all these learning skills (Because I'm a freak like that), I think there needs to be learning skills up to the highest modifier of other skills(I think the current is 16x). That would be Standard(1), Advanced(3), Elite(5), 4(7), 5(9), 6(11), 7(13), 8(15). Now that would be something.

With Biology at 5, it should last for 8 hours due to the 20% duration bonus per level it gives.

yep another set of learning skills would be cool!
but what we have missing now is the advanced learning skill. a second +2% to all attributes would be nice! and would make sense

Edited by: Gerbil Intaki on 20/04/2006 12:07:55 yeah I was acctually thinking about this the other day. the problem with the level 5 advanced learning skills is that it opens up nothing and takes ages it also only gives you a minimal stat boost but if it opened up the next level then you could gain the next 4 levels easier and it would be more worth it.
of course you have the same problem where ever you stop in that no one would train the last level of the last skill becuase it just wouldnt be worth it.
Advanced learning or elite learning skills on the other hand would be rather usful up to any level.
I also thought about "specialist" learning skills for example you can learn "science specialist" and you get a bonus to all skills in the "science" category but not others.

i completely agree with u, i even hate the normal and the advanced learning skills, its just a big timesink
would have been better if attributes started at a higher rate and get rid of those learnings.

There should definately be 5 or more tiers of learning. There should be a point where you should decide to train skills instead.
