Why not spice things up... why can't we have periodically a free 100% ship insurance week or weekend? Imagine the fire... or "Concord on strike!" for high sec fun. Let's make things more interesting guys...

Insurance already pays out plenty. I don't know how it works out for all ships, but when I was flying some BCs last year, I worked out that I was getting something like 7x T2 fitted and platinum insured hulls for the price of 4 due to the insurance payouts.

Actually I don't hate this idea. For one weekend, every ship is disposable. I think you could conceivably run around blowing everyone up for fun in hisec. No whining, no crying - just a lot of crazy fun shooting at everyone.
Of course, someone somewhere would look for ways to profit/take advantage of it, but on the surface I think it could make for a really crazy and fun weekend.

Dunno about the insurance part so much, but Concord randomly going on strike, for a short time and only within a small set of systems (5-6 linked systems, like in an incursion) would 'spice' things up i'm sure!!!  |

To reply to the substantive point. It's not the price of the hull that's the problem, it's all the stuff mounted on said hull.
Personally I would be prepared to pay an additional premium if the guns, scrams, MWD etc were insured. Losing a ship is one thing, having to trawl the marketplace for the other bits is inconvenient and if the cost could be covered by insurance it would make the whole process a lot less painful. |

Most likely it will result in CCP going belly up in 6 months because they'll instantly lose ~half of their income since people buy/sell GTC/PLEX mostly to compensate ship losses. |
