I confirm the above post statement. you can : remove things for corporate hangars. remove amunitions from launchers and turrets you can't : remove ships from ship maintenance array unanchor things put them online do a lot of things
And now for my "not a secret thing" point of view (I will only talk about large pos because we are filthy rich and I've never seen a small or medium ct in my life).
As for the calthrates it's some tricky question. Because you can put all the strontium you want in the tower, you need to think about some details. The tower once in reinforced mode will use ALL the calthrates and when it comes out of reinforced mode, it will have 25% shield and will slowly start to recharge. It takes about 17h (don't have the figures in front of me) to move from 25 to 50%. So you need enough fuel to cover the reinforced mode AND the time for the shield to regenerate back to 50% AT LEAST (in case you can't use shield transporter ships) and a safety stock so the enemy HAS to come back and effectivly destroy the pos and not wait 2 more hours for it to shutdown because of lack of fuel.
Basicaly, the more strontium you put and the more often you will have to refuel you pos. 2.5d worth of calthrates is nice to annoy a bit the people who shot at it and it still leaves you with about 7d worth of fuel if you do cunning calculation (hint : cpu and power are not used while the pos is in reinforced mode). If you're ebil, you can push the thing to a bit more than 3d. But man, that would be really ebil.
I want to add that POSes are very nice toys. It's a bad thing you can't control their targets or that the shield percentage is not updating while people are shooting at the control tower (I had to warp-out and in and that's not something you really want to do). I could talk hours about poses and things that they don't do well (like the cpu / power consumption calculation).
Multiple edits cause english is not my mother tongue so I suck at it and had to correct a lot of things.

Esaam - u can just go outside the tower to get the shield display to update, that can also be done by a covert ops btw.
Also, I disagree that POS should be able to "primary" a particular ship, not because it would generally be primaried at "us", but because that would allow for a pos to be a one stop pwn-mobile, and that is bad. Very bad.

A question or 3 on POS sructures...
When a tower enters reinfocred mode, what happens to the modules that are anchored to the tower? Do they go offline? Are the vunerable to attack?
Say a moblle lab is anchored to the POS, when the tower goes into reinforced mode do the research jobs stop and what happens to the bpo? A similar question, if a mobile lab is destroyed, what happens to the bpo's that are being researched?
Thank you for your time.

Well, after reading your point of you, it's true, it might be too powerfull. But you get the point of my idea : preventing people from bringing large amount of T1 frig to spread the pos DPS and render its defenses almost useless (cause there is not much you can and should be able to do against 14 dreads so it was not my focus).
And thanks for the advice, I will go for covop then Yet it would be much more nicer if the shield % would update on the pos' GUI ^^ --

They all go offline and will stay like this so you won't be able to put them back online once the tower exit reinforced mode unless you manage to get the shield back to at least 50% (or wait).
I believe the bpo will drop but don't quote me on that. --

You can target using standings on the dread pilots. However before blood patch this required that you have the standing set before the pilot enters local. Takes lots of work to gather the intel on this one.

Be careful with that. I've heard conflicting reports on whether it is classed as an exploit or not so you may want to check with a gm.

Do they have an exploit thread? CCP should really have a listing of all known exploits so we can work around them. How else are we to know if it's wrong or just a good tactic?

I don't believe they have an exploit thread, but in every thread on this subject it has been stated by several people that it *is* an exploit and that gms have confirmed it. However no GM then confirmed it there in the thread so I'm not 100% sure.
However if I had to guess I would expect it to be an exploit. The inability to focus fire is deliberate to stop POS being impossibly destructive. I don't believe any single dread can tank the full output of a deathstar pos.

There are dreads that can do it, but their hitpoints would yo-yo.

Edited by: Esaam DeVries on 05/04/2006 19:23:47 Ok, my point about strontium was not really clear and I just wanted to add a little thing cause I was talking about regular operations but there is also some ebil operations about pos and fuel ;)
One important thing is that the POS does not use fuel when it is in reinforced mode, only strontium (at least our poses did react like that). When the pos enters reinforced mode you can add fuel to it (but no strontium). So if you are here when the attack starts, you can move all the standard fuel back to the hangar, leave about 12h. Then put all the strontium you can in the CT.
So that's 3 steps : 1) Before the shield goes under 50%, move the fuel out (but a few hours) and move all the strontium you can (*) 2) Once it is in reinforced mode, you can move back the fuel. 3) Once it is back to 50% move some strontium.
(*) and that's because of course you can move things out of the corporate hangar (but not back in).
I won't go into too much details cause I'm lazy but you get the point. If you really value your pos and you are lucky to be in when the attack starts you can really annoy the attacker and buy you some time.

We need to comfirm this one way or the other....Can anyone message a GM and ask? Im at work or I would do it myself =) Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Number 1 in the Hood, G |

From the ship array, correct.
However, you can empty the corp hangar arrays without a problem (as they don't need to be online to remove stuff).
You're mistaken. I've experienced this first hand.
I believe you can now ask TRUST about this, and you'll find that, whatever you think you experienced, it isn't the way the game currently works.
You CAN take stuff out of corp hangar arrays, whilst the tower is in reinforced.
Something must have changed then, because I lost a few hundred million in stuff because I couldn't take it out of the hanger while the tower was in reinforced mode. Or perhaps it was some kind of bug. It's good to know it's changed though, thanks.
