I have bought about 2bn worth recently as an investment. Personally I can only see the value of these ships rising in the coming year. They can be flown by anyone, fastest way to travel long distances (who doesnt like insta warp?), but also being shuttles very prone to loss. Obviously being special edition means no new ones can be made.
I also can't see these ships being made obsolete anytime soon. Question is how high will they go 100m realistic? |

Gnosis is a good example. And then there's always the risk that CCP will just re-release it at some point in the future like they did with the Sarum Magnate, which can crash the price obviously. Anyway, I still have the feeling that they'll drop some more in price. It wasn't possible to trade them in the market when they were first released, so people that wanted to sell had to use contracts (which isn't ideal) and it's quite possible that there's still plenty of people out there that don't even know that it's now possible to sell theirs on the market. And besides they were also showing up as being worth 0 isk in the in-game inventory screen for weeks. They've just recently started showing a value there (36M at the time of this writing), which should spur some additional selling from people who aren't that in the loop as soon as they notice it. As for how much they are worth, I think 100M is really overshooting it. They're a little faster than an intercepter, but have less cargospace, no fighting capabilities, no tackling abilities, no warp-bubble escaping abilities, and can't fit warp core stabs. As far as their value, I'd guess they'll settle somewhere around 10-20M (assuming that CCP doesn't release more). Maybe you can add a little more for rarity eventually, but there are tons of these things in the game and that's going to take a long time.
Point well made.
I do however think the leopard has more widespread appeal, I used to long for a ship that could do a Jita to amarr run in under 10 minutes while autopiloting. Time is money in EVE and this ship can save you a heck of a lot of time. As mentioned though i believe The biggest obstacle to its price rising will be if CCP chooses to give these away as a reward for re-subbing (how I got my gnosis). |

This. And then they stabilize. I used this same philosophy and thought I was going to make a killing on Quafe Zero and the Genolution implants. I came out about 10-20% up on the Quafe, but got nailed on the implants after CCP released a second batch. (supply doubles, demand stays the same, price halves. Oops) In the end I sold the implants in 0.0, so it wasn't as bad as it could've been.
Given the advice here I have decided to revise expectations and look for a 20% return ;) |

If they want to gank me in a shuttle in my +3 implant hi sec clone they're welcome to :) |

I will take them, set a contract Made the contract then checked Jita prices and noticed a spike (buy orders are now at 35) so I deleted it. If you are interested in a higher offer though I do have 76 I'm looking to unload.
Maybe not such a bad investment after all :) |

Ambo wrote:Anything that is given to all pilots is just too common to gain any value in a sensible time frame. Especially if it's something that is rarely going to die like a shuttle.
Examples:
Apotheosis - 6 years old - 15 mil - just a (cool) shuttle Zephyr - 5 years old - 20 mil - of some use to wormholers though hardly indispensible Primae - 4 years old - 5 mil - almost totally useless Echelon - 3 years old - 8 mil - almost totally useless
(As far as I'm aware, none of these can be built by players though I may well be wrong)
So obviously it's a little more useful that the Echelon/Primae. I'd be very surprised if it's above 20 mil in 2 years time though. Good luck.
I don't see your point. you're comparing useless ships with the fastest way to (cynoless) travel in eve. given that you can buy a shuttle at 20k isk and identical ships are retailing at 15-20m based solely on aesthetic originality. Don't you think a limited edition ship with a genuine "best-in-class" niche' use would perform considerably better in the market? |

Your just a lazy trader wannabee who doesn't want to put in the real work to be successful All the time you wasted collecting them and the time your going to waste waiting to sell them, I can't tell you how much more ISK you could make putting that ISK to better use.
I really don't see your problem, Almost every eve player has played somerblink at one time or another and that is literally throwing money away. I made an investment made on what I believed to be sound economic principles which i have explained in the thread. Sure there are risks involved, but on balance I thought it was the correct move. |

Question is, how much farther can they increase?
And for how long?
To be honest i didn't see the price rising so high so quickly. I thought it would be a gradual rise as people lost them but seems people are buying up in bulk for some reason. I traded out today and sold most of my stock in Amarr for a shade under 80m a unit only because I need the ISK for somthing else. Well done to anybody that invested in leopards, great result! o7 |
