Yes, you read right, you can now pre-order Issue #003 of E-ON, or sign up for a subscription. If you want to see some of the new stuff that is going to hit EVE in the coming months, here is an opportunity.
The preview page isn't online yet, but the cover photo certainly does look interesting!

and as i still haven't heard any answer yet, i ask again, will we ever see EON #1-3 as downloadable .pdf file?
that was answered by zapatero(I think that's the name, the guy that makes it). The answer was no, it would detract from the fact it isn't an electronic mag or something, it was a good reason I think

1 year sub 4tw
It would be nice if a year after each issue was published they would put it online. The majority of the info would be outdated anyway (take issue #2 for example - by the time it would be online Kali would have already been released) but it would still give people the chance to read them that either can't afford to buy it, or weren't a member of EVE at the time.

Can't wait for it to arrive. I have my 1 year sub and I'm looking forward to seeing James Lyrus's work in print, as I'm sure he is. (also I get paid isk for doing the editorial work on his article :D). For those that don't know, it's a good primer on electronic warfare. Should be a good read and informative.
EDIT: Oh and the chronicles. I love those chronicles. I'm sure I'll say scream "OH **** YES!" when I read what's coming to eve but the chronicles are where it's at :D

I'm looking forward to seeing this issue in print. I dunno, maybe it's that spring is here, or that I've squeezed some juicy GFX factoids out of CCP, but #3 has been a good issue to work on. And I like magazines anyway; looking at pdfs makes my eyes hurt. Flicking through pages = much betterer.
Apart from the graphics feature, I would have to rate Reiisha's 'History Of EVE' as one of the star articles. It's taken many months for this piece to be completed (it was originally intended for #2) and has involved a lot of research (Reiisha is a student of history, btw). It's an on-going project so I hope after reading it the info floodgates open up and a full and proper history of player-driven EVE can be completed... in time.
All in all though some great stuff, and I have to thank Urban Mongral especially for writing an excellent report on the recent Gathering, submitting it only hours after landing at the airport.
Actually there are far too many people to thank; James Lyrus, Herko, Rheagar, Kaaii, DC, Blinky, Pagus, Discorp..... Seleene, Hardin, Count, Smiffa, Nyphur, HG, Joshua F, Chribba, all the people who created ads, sent screenshots and paitently awaited replys to mails..... CCP... the roster just gets bigger and better with each passing issue.

Thanks for the kind words Mr Z; I just hope theyÆre justified! (I was writing on the plane back after 4 Days with no sleep, entirely too much Alcohol, jetlag from hell and of course the whole Vegas experience, which is the sensory equivalent of a mugging)
Seriously though I am really looking forward to getting my copy and checking out Reiisha's history article. Being an incredibly old git in EVE terms it will be great to look back on the good (and not so good) old days. Hope there is plenty about Endless Corp, back in the day we ruled EVE!
Anyway great work with the magazine to everyone who contributed but especally to you Zapatero. Issues 1 and 2 rocked and I can't wait to get my hands on this one.
BTW Mr Z, can you come to the London Meet Up on the 8th April? I think I owe you a few drinks

Well, in truth, there was evidence of fatigue in some sentences, but nothing that couldn't be put right . Can't say I've ever managed to be even half coherent after returning form the States, so to write a feature is doubly impressive.
Much as I'd like to be there on the 8th, my wife has already bagsied that night for a party with the gals. I will endevour to infect her with some virus to maybe reverse roles, but otherwise I'll be putting the kids to bed and watching match of the day (hoping Pompey will have secured a place in next years Premiership by then).

Cpt Drax - we have the FedEx option ready to go - it just needs programming into the order system by CCP. As soon is it is available we will announce it.
Can't understand why it takes a month to get to you, though. It ships by Priority Airmail, but we have all seen this can, sadly, still take time.

Be keen to know who 'your man on the inside' is! But yes, it is printing as I type. Binding, in fact, and we are on course to get issue #003 shipped out on Friday this week, 7th April, as per plan. And Zap and I are pretty pleased with this issue - we think you're going to love it.
As an aside, for all those who have placed an order, should you check the order tracking you will see it says 'shipped' today, 3rd April. That is merely so we can gather the order data and prepare the mailing. The magazine will ship this coming Friday, 7th April. If you pre-order now, it will still ship on Friday.

Edited by: Matthias DuBastyra on 04/04/2006 13:08:06 Ok, when I first heard about EON, I was skeptical. I admit it. I had my doubts. But, then again, I was on pins and needles during Castor (yup, i've been on since way back) so maybe it's the way I'm wired. I'm an Aries Latino with a bad moon rising, so I'm a glass-half-empty kinda guy. N E way, when I received my first issue. I was immediately drawn to the sleek glossy cover and I could hear the vacuum of the air around me as my eyes dialated. As I leafed through the pages of information, I thought to myself, "This...this is amazing!" I shared it with all my eve friends and we relished in its info. Curretnly, it is sitting on a mantle above a make shift altar dedicated to the EVE gods--Sorry Kieron, you're more of a demi-god [but a god nonetheless]. N E way, I was about ready to sign up for a year subscription when I thought about beginner's luck, about marketing schemes, about being a managing editor of a small press myself and seeing things like this emerege from other presses only to fall flat on its face because of high overhead. So I waited. I wanted to see if lightning would strike twice. I sat patiently (well, that's not true, if you recognize me from my other posts.)
Finally, the day arrived and as I ripped the cellophane wrapper from the magazine, I was elated to find the EVE boys have done it again! So here I am, but not to comment on shipping, or complain about wait time (that will come later ) Instead, I'm here to say that I've done it! I sold my soul for a year's subscription! Wohoo! ...And the truth will set you free! So, until Chuck Norris comes out of the closet, make mine EVE for a lifetime!

As far as I know, any and all mail from outside the USA gets handled as third-class mail inside the US. Only way to speed things up is by courrier service (Fedex/UPS)
I'm pretty sure this was the case some years ago, not entirely sure if it still holds true.

I also have to agree that the US shipping seems really slow. Last issue it took almost 4 weeks to get the issue :-( I was one of the first to order this time, hoping that will help though I know it wont ...
I wonder, would it be quicker for the US people if a mass shipment was made to a central location then distributed? I mean for example 1 big Fedex shipment of say 300 (whatever the US Pre-order/Subscription number is) to a location in the US. (All in prepaid US shipping packaged, and this is then shipped individually from there to the people?

This is something that I investigated for issue 2 (didn't have enough time before shipping) and was overlooked for issue 3. You see, I'm supposed to be the central distribution point for the US subs and recovery from the accident has put some things behind.
I'll try to get something going for shipping issue 4 to the US subscribers.

The first two certainly were. Remember there's content in EON that you won't fine anywhere else. Zap and his team do a great job with EON, it's really quality work, and one of the best things about it is PLAYERS produce much of the content.
Remember too, it's $15 every 3 months, it's 4 issues a year. That's only $5/month, which is pretty cheap for a magazine. -- Lil Miner |

4th issue "image" is just a placeholder. When E-ON #1 shipped there were 4 "magazine covers" too, 3 of them being placeholders.

I'm really looking forward to this issue, I already have bets open on when it will arrive.. since so many postal workers seem to mistake "AUSTRIA" with "AUSTRALIA" my first issue was in transit for.. well I can't calculate it now.. but it arrived 3 weeks ago
Since it was already a replacement I didn't inquire for a re-replacement, since the errors of our postal service shouldn't harm ccp.. you can guess how surprised I was when I got it at last
The second issue arrived within 2 weeks tho, some weeks prior to the first
So, I am REALLY looking forward to this one !

days, months, years. Seems beter than months, days, years... who came up with that anyway?
I agree but it's easy to see how the American system came about. How do you say the date? Most people say, "Today is April 9th, 2006" (04/09/06) as opposed to "Today is the 9th of April, 2006" (09/04/06).

Originally by: Edward Sarum I wonder, would it be quicker for the US people if a mass shipment was made to a central location then distributed? I mean for example 1 big Fedex shipment of say 300 (whatever the US Pre-order/Subscription number is) to a location in the US. (All in prepaid US shipping packaged, and this is then shipped individually from there to the people?
This is something that I investigated for issue 2 (didn't have enough time before shipping) and was overlooked for issue 3. You see, I'm supposed to be the central distribution point for the US subs and recovery from the accident has put some things behind.
I'll try to get something going for shipping issue 4 to the US subscribers.
Kieron,
If you need some help with this let me know. We are cetnrally located and could put them in the mail within 20 minutes of arrival if they where sent ot my business.

Please don't take this as a delay. In order to prepare the mailing we 'shipped' the 'data' on 3rd and 4th April. The magazine was mailed on schedule on publication day - 7th April - to everyone with a sub and a pre-order.
It's out there and on its way...

Hmmmn ..... living in the UK I have received both issue 1 + 2 within a day or two of shipping. Postman called this morning on his usual round to find me anxiously waiting at the door, guess what ..... WTF!!! STILL NO EON !!!!
Guys this is no longer funny, April 1st is loooong gone and anyhow that would be a really sick joke to play on us. They convince us to sample their product with ever better issues then once the hook is set they tease us by withholding our fix. CCP how can you be sooo inhumane as to promise us a shipment date and leave us poor addicts hanging?
SOOOO ... WHEN DO I GET MY EON? GIMME, GIMME, GIMME .... NOW!!!
Edit - Can we at least have some kinda ETA, we're suffering out here!!

Edited by: Elizium on 11/04/2006 15:54:50 I have a somewhat off-topic question. I can't seem to find advertising info anywhere. I'm working on an ad for the next issue, but the only contact mail I found bounced.
Who do we contact to get ad info (sizing, file format, preferred delivery, due date for issue 4, etc)?
Appreciate any help you can offer in advance.

If it had been posted on the 7th, then it would have been here by now. It's now the 11th and no-one I've spoken to in the UK has got it yet.
Whether it's some delay with whatever company CCP are using the get it mailed out I dont know. But it couldnt have been mailed on the 7th, thats a fact, if it had someone somewhere would have gotten it by now.

Well, we ARE on the run up to easter. And everyone knows what happens to the postal system around the time of the Great Christmas Influx. It's possible that things are just backed up at the moment and all the magazines are sitting in a queue in a sorting office somewhere.
For the record, I haven't recieved mine yet. By my luck, it'll arrive whilst I'm out.

Ladies and Gentleman
I appreciate your frustration, but I don't understand why some of you have not yet received. I give my word that every single subscription and pre-ordered copy was shipped on 7th April, the due date. I personally organised and handled it. The Royal Mail collected many, many sacks.
Many of you, if you check your tracking, will see that it says your magazine was shipped on 3rd April, 4th April or 6th April. This was the 'data' being shipped (we have to prepare the mailing).
I am in conversation with the Royal Mail to establish the cause of the apparent delay, and will keep you posted.

Mine came this morning, and I've read all but the fan fiction and recon bits.. Excellent issue, although it feels slightly less packed than issue 2 (I can't explain why, it just does, maybe I'm going mad). The bit about trinity was an excellent read, as was the item about the vegas meet. I'd also like to say thanks to Reiisha and James Lyrus. Their pieces on the history of EVE and EW usage respectively were very informative

As of yet, 18th of april, I still haven't received my E-ON #3 Order Tracking sais: Shipped on: 03/04/2006 19:09:55 so that means it's been almost 15 days! In that time I could probably have picked it up by crossing the North Sea Canal between UK and the Netherlands swimming...

Ok I actually looked it up... the time it took someone to cross the North Sea Canal was 20 hours and 45 minutes. So yes: it would have been faster to swim to the UK to pick up my issue #3.
