I fly defensive support for my corp when I'm not mining. Has anyone used the Caldari Interdictor as a missileboat or rocketboat with any succes? What kinds of setups were you using? I've got the all of the basic missile skills to 4. I have not done any of the 'advanced' (T2) skills yet, so I'd be using T1 weapons and ammo.
I think it might also make a good lvl 1 and 2 mission and deadspace fighter...

interdicitors are only usefull in 0.0 (only there u can launch warp disruption probes) and there u are first target, so don't even think about dealing damage (because of the probes). if u want to deal damage in normal empire just get a af

Bad habit 1: I like higher security space(I roleplay missions, etc) Bad habit 2: I LOVE Dessies...sorry, can't help it!
I agree that if you're gonna use the interdictor spheres you gotta stay 0.0, but I'm looking at other uses for highersec space.
Thanks for your thoughts though!

You could possibly use it as a heavy damage interceptor type boat, probably a capacitor injector, shield tank, and damage mods in the lows.

Interdictors are "very" useful in support of 0.0 pvp gangs. Their only good use is launching spheres, nothing else. So race type, slot layout are rather irrelevant. All you need to do is fit MWD, web, best tank you can get, and sphere launcher.

I love dessies too mate, but the thing is the interdictors aren't designed for straight up combat. Use a destroyer as it will have more grid and a little less CPU, and cost at least 1/12th of the t2 version. ----

Like everyone else above me has said, if you aren't going to use it to launch spheres, stay the tech I version. In staight up combat, the cormorat will *****the flycatcher. You can cram 7, yes 7 150 mm tech II's on a cormorat with a MAPC, and have enough powergrid and cpu to fit tracking comps and sensor boosters, or an invuln field and a tracking comp and a booster. becuase of the cormorats range and tracking bonus, It is lethal from approx 90 km, to 3 km with 150 mm tech II's. you have no tank true, but you don't need one against ships smaller than you as long as you start at range. If you suspect the fight may start less than 50 km away, ditch a sensor booster and a tracking comp, and fit a invuln + booster. A fly catcher simply can't compete unless the fight starts at less than 6 km against a cormorat. it only has 5 missle slots so it's missle bonuses aren't as powerful as the cormorats railgun bonuses. plus what other ship that cost less than 1.5 mil make an intie pilot crap there pants at 80km?

As a person who flies in Attack Squadrons against other corps i can tell you that an interdictor in a very valuable piece of kit (Just the same as Covert Ops etc)
1st it can put up a sphere almost instantanious therefore catching inwarping warships to gates etc (trying to catch an incoming interceptor 2-3 jumps out is almost impossible using normal warp bubble means - it simply takes too long)
If you also up your skills you can get pretty decent range out of the Weps on a interdictor (as Its best to say away from nasty AF,s etc)
On a downside - if peeps see your shiny flycatcher costing 30 mil a pop - then you,ll get preferencial treatment if you get my drift

cormorant for your protection and whatnot.
7x 75mm gatling II's 1x rocket II or small knave nos.
MWD, web, 7.5km scram, tracking disruptor II
1x cap power relay or if your fitting skills are ish, a micro aux. there, a dessie which will run you abou 5 mil, and is just as effective as the flycatcher at what your trying to do.

Edited by: Nikita Fontaine on 28/03/2006 15:34:47 Firstly to one of the above posters - Flycatchers actually have 6 launcher slots.
Precision rockets can nock out some serious damage if you dont need to be racing around, i even beat an enyo in my flyctacher the other day in a friendly pvp fight, ----------------------------------------------- Great minds think alike but fools seldom differ

The FlyCatcher can kill T1 frigates in 2 salvos from 60km, non-plated interceptors in 3 salvos, plated interceptors in 6 salvos, stealth bombers in 2 salvos, cov ops in 2 salvos.
Don't fight Assault Frigates though they'll win.
As an anti-tackler platform in a gang there is no better ship. Escort with a HAC because the HAC will be called primary more often than you will and can take out assault frigates and cruisers you can't handle.
It's not very suitable for attacking npcs though purely because it's tank isn't so hot.

I can fit a full rack of T2 standarts + sphere launcher in the interdictor and I still have some cpu to spare to fit some webs and such.
