I'm looking into getting a HIC for the wormhole I live in to tackle anyone in it, or for a WH roam. Considering the lack of a station I would think some sort of shield setup would be most useful, as shields regenerate as well and isn't a timed buffer that is guaranteed to go down eventually.
Which HIC is the most useful for wormholes with no RR available? Not sure if I should make an active tank or passive tank either so I'm open for suggestions. |

I would suggest you review how you want to use the HIC. It is a fleet tool and not a solo hunting vessel as the DPS is shockingly bad, but then that is not the role of the vessel class
It cannot receive RR when bubble up, so a redundant comment about it not needing RR support
For WH use, I would suggest you stick to these rules for any HIC fit:
Cloak 2 x Warp Disruption Field Generator, 1 scripted for infinite point MWD to keep tackle in bubble as the speed penalty is a ***** Big buffer and good resist to soak damage
You want a stable fit with the bubble up as a minimum, so rest of slots for cap/support (web/TP)/probe launcher/whoring

I know the HIC can't be RR'ed when using the bubble, was more thinking about after combat repairs (yeah I can fit a local one of course). Not aiming for solo hunting as I know they're not damage beasts, so I mainly want to hold down anyone for my fleet.
I've been looking a bit at maybe a Broadsword (not many missile skills atm), so MWD and 2x or 3x LSE with invulns and extender rigs. Not sure if it's worth trying to use some form of recharge mods or just go pure hp though. |

you can have a hard times to break tank (even ratters) with your poor 300dps... People are going to try to ruin your day. Get together with others, ruin their day back - this is EvE |

For fleet use you'll want to fit your buffer tank to match the logistic support you will be getting.
If you want something that will be a bit more "independent" and used in small gang hit and runs, I'd suggest the Broadsword. Your tank will self-repair if not shot at, unlike an armor setup, and it has the additional benefit of a better top speed and align times.
Once that bubble goes up, and you are called primary I haven't see an active tank helping a HIC survive all that much better over a proper buffer tank with logistic support.
As far as DPS... I have to agree, you won't be doing a lot of DPS. That isn't the roll of a HIC. I'd use any DPS for drone and pod removal duties. (Light missiles on Broadsword work well) |
