I've just moved my assets to safety, (boy that was painful) and canceled my subscription. Select technical issue, and lack of linux support. I'd advise anyone with a reoccurring subscription to do the same until this problem is fixed so CCP understands this issue hurts their bottom line. Of course my account is active until march so I'll be trying on occasion to find a fix, but given the issue seems to effect all major chipsets, and drivers I doubt there will be a fix outside CCP.
PS- Eve devs. Would it kill you to at least have one Linux box some where, and test new patches and releases on it? At least you'd know when things like this were happening. Former forum cheerleader CCP, now just a hopeful small portion of the community. |

So it appears it was a fix for the below issue The irony of which is it doesn't seem to have fixed the issue for some (many?) of the windows users having the issue... https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=4188509#post4188509 Former forum cheerleader CCP, now just a hopeful small portion of the community. |

Wow that confirms wine versions 1.5-1.7 as well as ATI, NVIDIA, and Intel drivers being effected. Former forum cheerleader CCP, now just a hopeful small portion of the community. |

Debian Wheezy Wine 1.4.1 (no problems until this patch) Nvidia 8600GT
Let's just call it every wine version ever at this point as I doubt version 1.3 works.... Former forum cheerleader CCP, now just a hopeful small portion of the community. |

Every other time, starting in character selection, my whole screen - not just the client - starts to flicker. If I don't try to log in, and try to close the program swiftly, I just get a display driver crash. If I try to log in, I bluescreen and reboot - again, with that solitary exception. I know this doesn't help but, thanks for posting here because it's good to know the problem isn't restricted to Linux.
There is a whole 14 page thread on the original issue that led to this patch, which broke wine and doesn't seem to have fixed the original issue for some (most?) windows user who are seeing it.

There are also a number of mac users who use wine as it tends to work better than the official client. Former forum cheerleader CCP, now just a hopeful small portion of the community. |

Anyone else got this issue? I haven't noticed this before the patch but i could be wrong. It seems that the HEAP is growing constantly for me.
That the client uses 2 GB is normal. I read about it in the patch notes, it was written that the limit is set to 2 GB per copy. If Eve uses more - then there is a leak. But still can not use more than 4 GB - Eva is 32 bit program.
That's not entirely true with multi-threading, and PAE you could use a lot more than 4G. That said I doubt Eve is designed to use more than a couple of G. Generally I try and have at least 2.5-3G per Eve Client or I find I can't run a broswer and teamspeak/mumble, and play tunes...
