Character selection screen and everything except UI is now flickering heavily. Came here just to check if anyone else has the same problem now?
Ubuntu 12.04 Wine 1.5.30, not too many changes to winecfg, got the game patched and running without any dll changes Nvidia GTX 570, fresh drivers
Will start trying out... things... |

Yes, online before the patch and right after. Nothing else changed in my setup. |

Just wanted to report that changing interval option(I had one, set it to immediate now) changes the flickering considerably. From one to immediate, I can now see my characters there without having to move my mouse around. Background still flickering badly. |

Just checking one thing. Do we have a mix of dualscreen users and single monitor users, or are we all using dualscreen? |

Oh, windows users have issues too? Having the dualboot option to Win7, I'll try it too. Reporting soon. |

As expected, everything fine under Win7... |

Every other time, starting in character selection, my whole screen - not just the client - starts to flicker. If I don't try to log in, and try to close the program swiftly, I just get a display driver crash. If I try to log in, I bluescreen and reboot - again, with that solitary exception.
Thanks for reporting this. Is your driver is somewhat up-to-date and are you using dx9 or dx11 for EVE? |

How might I try using DX9 instead?
Launcher, cogwheel icon up-right corner, and there should be a tab named directx or something. |

True, but whatever is causing this, is causing issues with some windows-users aswell. So we can hope that whatever they do to fix that, helps us too. |

If CCP wasn't doing things to help Wine users, you would most likely not be able to play the game at all. My point is, your argument Quote:we're paying customers and we expect to fly internet spaceships just like everyone else. is invalid, as it's not officially supported. You're paying for software made for Windows and OS X. Not at all. Once, there was Linux Support: http://www.linuxgames.com/archives/11565I'm new, but some friends are playing since the good old linux days. They have invested time and money, because the game was running on linux. So, it is not completley correct. If you remove a complete platform from your support-matrix, you would make the customers angry. So they decieded to offer alternatives: Run through wine. I would consider this as supported ( see the linked, official, mail from Arend St++hrmann.
The point is still invalid. I know, I know, I get your point here too. But still, your current monthly payments do not include official support for linux, so do not expect CCP to change their code in anyway just so it would work with wine. They will fix the issue that is causing windows-clients to not work properly, by testing it on windows only. |

Patch today did not fix the flickering.

All I know so far, is that playing with vsync settings make a huge difference. Almost playable at one point today. |
