Did you read the statistic on the article? It says 95% of them are repeat offenders. Jail is not the place for entertainment. Home is for entertainment. They'd be home and entertained if they didn't kill 5 people. I want jail to make a good enough impression on them so that they won't want a second helping. Not a slap on the wrist followed by free pacman. I support spending the money on clubs and other bludgeoning instruments that the guards can beat them with at random.

When she says 'the community', I do think she's referring to the community outside, ie 95% of the people will some day return to life outside the walls, which makes a hell of a lot more sense than 95% being repeat offenders.

Tax money is pretty irrelevant here- you may note that the prisoners still had to buy the consoles with money they earn doing a job inside the walls. Which means that the consoles incur no additional costs for the government.

Well, american prisons is a billion-dollar industry - in Norway the prisons cost the government millions because prisoners don`t work... too bad if you ask me... I think games and other stuff is good for prisoners to have a social life more compared to what they will meet when they get out...

what do you know about eve-community not beein jail-birds or ex ones?  dont presume and BTW many prisons in europe allow video-gaming and computer gaming, web surfing. Dont speak for us all.
If you start dizzin prisons and its ppl and its ppl's rights, dont get supprised if someone in EVE will "shank" you!!!

Whoaa neat!
Just imagine, all you have to do is stab somone and you can spend all day playing eve with people paying your bills and brining you food ocasionally, you dont have to bother with all those little details like "what shall i have to eat".
Sounds like paradise to me.

yeah its so great, prison food, the lovely ass raping community, the small sweet smelling cell, working in a factory all day making "shank's" to use in the prison war, sharing computers (gettin shanked for usin it to long,) can't ever go out, cant **** girls only guys  , unless you got connections. List can go on, yeah "HEAVEN"!

mmm for heavy offenders (max security) murder and heavy crimes no let em rot esp for life inprisonment but .... for minimum security perhaps for minor offenses then yes as a reward i can see video games being a part of a reward system for good behaviour.
Tho such games should not be connected to outside world can u imagine player x telling his lawyer player y to organise a hit on someone who put him away - the network should be within the jail system perhaps across several prisons. That could work - perhaps only strategy games (shoting games woudl be out ofc) make em think something like civ 4 online or some similar game.

lol hahahaha I would play that game, shooting games is out? lol yeah dont wanna give them idea's or what? and if you dont have it for maximum security prisoners serving life what do you suppose they do instead? kill the guards?

Ok I work in a max sec prison in Indiana and i can tell you from personal experiance that an inmate with unsupervised contact to the outside world is nothing but a bad idea, besides they have plenty of other stuff they can do. everybody thinks that they are locked up 90%of the day but in truth they are only in the cells more like 35% unless they are in a segregation unit for doing something they shouldnt have done and in that case its more like 75%.

Personally i think if your in prison, your there to be punished...
Which in my mind should be No TV, No Computers, No games, No phones, No Consoles, No gym's.
Cheap food, Water, Books and the odd lesson in respect for others...
Then get the F**kers cleaning the streets

look to our asian neighbours' history for how to punish criminals.
small cell in the ground, maybe 2m x 1m, fed through ***** in the roof, never get let out till their sentence is up.
you think they ever commit that crime again?
think they are having fun in prison?
or are you of the opinion that murder is okay in small doses and should be rewarded with all of lifes conveniences and then some? |
