Ok, it's official, my merlin frigate can beat any ship unless one of three life threatening conditions are met! Rawr 
After kitting up a rather innocent looking merlin yesterday, I soon discovered it was incinvible, and quickly put a brutix and prophecy to shame, oh dear dear shame.
Unless they have:
Web
Nos
Or drones that can kill you faster than you can kill them.
You will win! Rawr!
I cannot take credit for this setup, as a good dudely friend of mine initially came up with the setup, and downed a typhoon in it.

High: 2x Light anode neut's with AM, 2x arb rocket launchers.
Med: 1x small cap injector II with 150's, 1x small shield booster II 1x 1MN AB II 1x 7.5k Scram.
Low: 2x PDU II.
Ok, it's official. I now no longer need to spend millions to belt hunt, and it rocks my socks off.

you no longer have to spend millions to belt hunt, but infact this setup costs like 10millions.

What happens if it's an inty, say like a crow, that's simply faster than you and keeps at 15KM? A couple of your corp mates did that to me the other night when I used a similar (although T1) setup.

Than I guess you just warp out. Remember, with interceptors, the main aim, frigate rule #1 in most cases, is to stay out of web range.

The Merlin is a decent ship (I love its hull), but any Brutix or Prophecy setup that lacks Web/NOS/Drones deserves to be killed by an Ibis.

I'm sorry, but you basically seem to be saying 'my Merlin can beat any ship that isn't using any of the three most popular/ most effective anti-frigate tactics'. I'm sure it works, I like Merlins, but those 3 conditions are cutting out a lot of ships.

On topic:
I would like the Merlin or Kestrel better if they had reasonable hull speed. A frig need only make a compromise between velocity and midslots. Therefore, these two will always be second class frigs, although there are certainly worse combat frigates.

i know what happened there since i was in local at that time...
the guy in the typhoon was mining since he spent all his money on his ship, and he couldnt pay the insurance...
what wastegate did: he took his can so he got flagged, the typhoon shot him once to scare him off, then he went afk 
wastegate didnt run  he brought him down to structure and he didnt had no repper wastegate had already run out of ammo and he almost ran out of missiles like u see on the pic.
and just when that guy in the typhoon thought his day couldnt get any worse, he clicked the link in my bio
i have to say, its a nice kill wastegate for only being 2 months old

The OP's setup is completely useless. Why? No self respecting PVP pilot would ever be caught dead in a cruiser or BC w/o nos, web, drones, or all three. Maybe he can kill Caracal pilots? Who cares. Furthermore, with that amount of ISK in a ship, I should hope that he can kill ships worth 1/2 the isk. I have a vexor setup that will rip it to shreds. Guess what? It has nos, drones and a web. And it costs like 5m isk to set up. Go figure. And only around 300K SP to fly.

Punisher can tank a singular medium nos, can still tank missiles webbed, can still out run cruiser-class beam/rail/art guns while webbed (low sig radius),and can kill off a pack of 5 light drones. Dual medium nos, dual web, or t2 medium drones (it can tank 3-4 Med t1 fine) spell trouble for it but dual-modules for anti-frigate work are much less common than the bread-and-butter web+nos.
Again, I don't see the potiential staying power in any other frigate like I do the punisher. If that merlin with it's huge sig radius get's webbed, it's missile pwnage time. One medium nos is going to chew your cap. Light drones are tankable but a shield tank requires much more capacitor than an armor tank for the same amount of repair points.
Merlin is a good ship, but careful of overestimating it.
