We Africans use the term "the big five" to refer to the five most dangerous animals to hunt: lion, elephant, rhino, leopard, and buffalo. Those few who have the hunting trophies of the big five are highly revered among the other huntsmen and -women.
I kindly ask C&P - the good, bad, and the ugly of Eve Online - to list the Big Five of New Eden. |

I drew parallels based on attributes of each animal. None of the animals you listed seemed terribly difficult to kill with the proper equipment.
Lion - Hurricane
* Relatively common, usually hunts in packs, will hunt you.
Leopard - Vagabond
* More often hunts alone, quite fast, will hunt you, but tires easily.
Rhino - Drake
* Big tank, generally slow at first, very dangerous in herds.
Buffalo - Hulk
* Common herd animal, non-carnivorous, prey.
Elephant - Rorqual
* Usually docile, very large, can be dangerous when pissed off.

The buffalo is a VERY dangerous animal, and adults are dangerous enough that lions will rarely attempt to take one on, preferring prey that doesn't frequently kill at least one of the animals attacking it. There's nothing "common" about those beasts.
You should probably learn a little about an animal before you comment on it. |

The Buffalo deserves it's place on the list over the Hippo for the fact that it's milk is apparently better per se on a genetic level than traditional bovine milk for human consumption / digestion.
That said there will no doubt be a few male neckbeards reading this thread who are able to self sufficiently lactate from their nipples anyway so maybe my point is not of any relevance.

I think it would be more sensible to talk about the kind of ships being hunted. so hunting a gate camper is like a hyena and a ratting carrier is like a buffalo.
but if you want alliances, hmm. you need choices that you need to outnumber them/bring lots of people AND have to work hard getting kills on them:

rooks and kings
goonswarm
white noise
