Is there an accepted naming convention for ship prefixes for the various in-game empires (USS, HMS for example)?

A convention of names for your ship, there is not.. Find out what suits you best, you must...
in simple words anything that suits you and is an appropriate name without offensive meaning to religion or otherwise is accepted as a legitimate name
to be or not to be is not important in the world of EVE... To be the most you can become is... |

Nothing official as far as I know.
Most RP corporations (and some regular ones as well) have come up with their own prefixes.
You might head down to Intergalactic Summit or EVE Library and ask around there. Just remember that the Summit is In-Character only.

I've seen ships with the corp ticker as the prefix. Some strange and vaguely suspect prefixes and some completely keyboard mashed names.
You can call it what you like. As Freya pointed out, there are a few exceptions for political, religious and ethical reasons.

That's a very good question. Don't think that there's an (in)official prefix convention, so you may just roleplay a bit and create one, if you like. For Khanid perhaps HMS, as it's a kingdom. But for the other bloodlines and groups it's rather difficult to find a good prefix I guess...

Ooooo this is always fun....
Although there are no really "offical" ones would be fun to have the entire corp agree on one. I could see a PVP corp doing this.
AS mentoined above, you could use the similarites between the game empires to do that. IE Ammar Empire- HMS (to its monarchal background), Federation- USS (or mabey FSS for federation Starship. Go one further and try NCC ;) ) Caldari would be harder to pick up on, can't think of one on the top of my head, And Minmintar probally wouldn't have one, as racially their ships are flying trashheaps... (hmmmm POS for a prefix mabey? would be a good joke)
I guess just be creative and one will come to you. _______________

I find it best to use your corporation ticker as a prefix, for instance, my ships at the moment are called "[PITC] Ship Name"
Works great.

I used to try for prefixes with my ships. But I go for names like Twilight Guardian for my Vexor. I imagine the prefixes in my head. "Big guns and heavy armor what else is there?"

For Caldari ships you shouldn't have any prefix at all. Nither Japanese nor Russian (which are the 2 cultures caldari is based on) use prefixes in their shipnames. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
