Title says it all. it seems that now when you disconnect weather intentionally or not, your drones will return to bay before your ship warps off.

What about reconnecting to drones after you come online again? Shouldn't there AI be that tough?
Ninjaedit: well I of course like the new way of drones returning to drone bay when you suddenly disconnect. Just saying |

?? CCP may you clarify please. If your heavy drones are 40km out, do your ship wait for them to return b4 warping out or is it just cheat with auto pulling in ?
Edit :
Sorry answer is there and it's all nice :)
CCP Guard wrote:War Kitten wrote:Interesting...
I'm very curious to see if it works as worded, or the drones just magically reappear in your drone bay.
If your ship does not warp until the drones fly back, I see many issues:
1) If the drones must cover large distances, your ship will not warp for a long time. 2) To tackle a logoffski pilot, simply tackle his drones and prevent them from returning. 3) A ship with sentry drones out will never warp if he's not in scoop range.
Does it apply to fighters and fighter bombers? Tackling and killing those is a fun way to punish docking ring hot droppers for thinking they're pro. If all they have to do is logoffski to get them back magically, that would suck, and if it prevents them from e-warping when they do log off, it would suck for them.
While I'm a heavy drone user and would prefer not to see my precious little ******** DPS machines get lost, I'd much rather lose them than my ship and think this change leaves a lot of questions to answer. The way it's supposed to work is that the drones do their best to make it back before the ship emergency warps, if they are too far away or being webbed by crafty enemies, they'll simply get left behind. Ships won't postpone emergency warp to wait for drones. The change isn't intended to save all drones but to decrease the number of annoying drone losses. It sort of makes sense that machines as complex as these would have sufficient AI to attempt to stick with their master
Edit 2 :
Buuuuut :
gfldex wrote:Confirmed for build 312067. They don't return but magicly jump into your drone bay on disconnect as long as they are on the same grid.

Approved 95%.
What about PvP situations? It may be unfair if someone disconnects deliberately and they don't even lose their drones.
But for PvE, YES! |

wait, so... let me get this straight. lets say im 20km away from my sentries, and i decide to warp off from where i am. will they just appear in my drone bay?
if so, you just made the Ishtar viable for sniping. if not, then meh. |

No.
First I believe it's only during e-warp. Also, if you warp off before they are able to return they are gone. |

Any drones in space when you get forced into an emergency warp (this doesn't happen for normal warping) will attempt to return to your drone bay as though you issued the command yourself. If they are too far away, or your ship can align and warp out before they get back, you'll leave them behind. |

making drones teleport into your bay would be a fundamental rebalance of drones, not a fix to an annoying problem that mission runners face. |

im not complaining, i just wanna state that this actually does nothing for mission runners who use sentry drones (unless the ship is right next to the drones upon disconnect). the drones will still take over aggro while youre gone, and get pummeled on.
a good change nonetheless for those who use light/medium drones in pve. |

why not? why not make this a new option for drones, were when I warp out they try to return to my ship before I warp? what is the argument for not to do it also in normal warp outs? Allow us to change characters of the same account without the need to logout and put the password again. |

there is absolutely no rational argument for not allowing drones to teleport into their drone bay on specialized drone boats when you initiate warp. i mean, do turrets and missile launchers get left behind when u warp? lol. |

Ideally NPCs should break aggro on inactive drones, or at least not make them new targets. Players usually ignore abandoned drones (at least until the end of a fight), why shouldn't NPCs? |
