Just wanted to say, I got wtfpwnd 2 times while I was trying to pick up for Viral Agent from a 0.0 system.
The first run, I made it thru one 0.0 and then I got raped. No, I didn't try to run because I was 20 jumps out from base and it was quicker for me to make it back by just getting podded.
The second run, I made it thru 5 0.0 systems and then noticed someone was on my ass again finally catching up to me which led to me getting raped again.
I'm really impressed by the ability you guys have to catch up to me while I'm trying to please an agent for 30 mil. There was no hard feelings at all plus I didn't loose anything except for some low-cost hardwires and 2 condors. I wsn't going to fly my Ferox out there.
I would love to be able to exist out there one day tho.

TBH m8 that part of your statement means you are already getting a clue anyway.
If you really are interested then start to look around at where you might want to be, find out who lives there and start asking about what they have to offer and what you could offer them.
Might not be easy to begin with, are you a spy, are you a leach, are you a cearbear, are you just in it for youself etc will be asked and implied but if you are serious and you do have a clue it's up to you to show that and them to see it.

Or a Daredevil fitted with Nanofiber mods and a MWD. (Easy enough to get the base speed up near 500m/s)
Or an Interceptor, similarly equipped. (Faster still, though less armored.)
Maybe skip the nanofibers and load up some core stabs, do some random jumps/drop safepoints and wait out the folks you're avoiding, etc etc.
Stop by any 0.4 attached to empire and go ratting awhile. I'm sure some folks will be happy to show up and help you test your evasion techniques. :)

You get used to it afte a while, and it doesn't become so scarry or hard once you know what your doing.
With instas, a frig, and some knowledge of the scanner your nearly uncatchable. Get a scout and you should never die.
The stories about 0.0 being evil, a gankers relm, and all that are simply stories and nothing more. But you do have to know what your doing, and that takes some practice, or good friends showing you what to do and what not to do. If your interested, find a good corp who lives in 0.0 and they'll show you the way.

Thanks for the points and love guys.
At this point, I just need to get better at what I'm going. Right now I'm just running missions and mining to make money for our new corp.
I did lose 7.5 mil on Viral Agents sitting at a station out in 0.0 that I ended up trashing but I'll make that back in no time.
I'm going to keep flying out there to see what works tho because I want to become good at it.
Besides what you guys have already suggested, what do you think about cloaking a frig?
The thing I like about 0.0 is that it's empty.

For my first six months of play, I falsely believed I couldn't exist solo in 0.0. But I did my homework, scoured the forums for info on the most friendly regions, learned evasive techniques, made my own bookmarks and, most importantly, engaged in the diplomacy required for living in someone else's sovereign territory.
Some alliances won't tolerate free agents in their midst, but others will...and some will let you in for a fee. Granted, just because you're on good terms with the controlling entities doesn't mean you won't get jumped by other factions. But you can learn to avoid them. Eluding attackers can be just as much fun as killing them. Sounds like you're well on your way to learning how to do that.
And, of course, if you have some friends flying with you, it can be much easier.
I hope you're not trying to run through the blockades of alliances that you potentially could have made friends with. I consider it bad form to ask for permission to enter after being caught repeatedly trying to break in. But maybe you're just running afoul of a pack of predators...in which case you'll have to be the Road Runner to their Wile E. Coyote. Beep beep! -------------------------------------------------------------------

0.0 is probably like getting a tattoo, you get one and you get hooked.
I aught to make flying thru 0.0 mandatory training for all the recruits once we start to get some numbers.
If you guys see me, let me live and say hello!

The thing I like about 0.0 is that it's not so empty , fun to come across someone in the middle of nowhere, checking them out to see if they're hostile, scanning ahead to find their shiptype, then tracking them down in the system to remove them from it .
I would advise not taking a cloak, as that'd double the cost of replacing your frig , keep it cheap and when you die you've not lost much, but you've gained some more 0.0 experience. Try to get hold of, or make bookmarks in the systems you're flying around, instas will make you hard to catch, safespots will make you hard to kill ___________ ~Fredbob~ |

Most of us who live out in 0.0 start twitching when we get within 10 jumps of Empire. There is just so much more freedom and danger out in 0.0.
Do as some have suggested, you can exist in 0.0 with the right corp with low skills but you will need some basic ones. Look around, I have made the same mistake 3 times now of joining an Alliance that has NPCs that are tanked against my damage. DUH!
Have fun and fly safe.
Also, remeber, that as was mentioned above, you learn each time you come out to 0.0. Experince is the best teacher. _________________________

I think my number one tip for 0.0 stuff would be to always fly in a ship that is prepared for combat, rather than a setup just to run away. If you can fight back you may get yourself out of a situation that had you just been able to run, you couldnt have
But i never fly a ship that isnt combat fitted whilst on contract or in 0.0 so meh

A working knowledge of 0.0 politics is key.
0.0 Alliances have wildly different flavours. They range from tiny groups to entire civilisations, from the territorial to the nomadic, from the business-oriented to militaristic, from civilian bureaucracies to dictatorships and dare I say it, personality cults. Some strive for stability and avoid conflict, others fear peace as a sign of decadence and decline, and maintain a state of existential war, seeking out enemies where none exist, to maintain their vitality.
Some alliances are not formally registered at all, but are a close-knit community of corps which look out for each other.
Alliances are dynamic entities too, spending some of their time in the ascendant, confident and proud, some of their time in a state of collapse, cynical, weary and disillusioned. Some have their moment just once, others rise and fall in cycles. Many will move through periods where these characteristics vary from one month to another.
The attitude of an alliance to newcomers also varies with their fortunes. At times, some will hold recruiting drives where they sign up any sizeable industrial/PVP corp willing to risk the relocation and agree to the terms of their stay (POS in a particular system, NPCing in a particular set of systems, mining and refining at a particular station with restrictions on POS, NPCing, etc, possibly undertaking a share of gatecamp duties and so on). At other times, the industrial wing may be ejected, recruitment cease and the alliance downsized to a hard PVP core. Enforcement of KOS orders on all neutrals usually becomes far more rigorous, rather than being an opportunistic activity.
Often an alliance will mount a long military expedition, leaving their industrial base at the mercy of interlopers until the fleet's return. Sometimes a war fatally wounds an alliance and a swift decline follows. Thus an alliance member who does not have the luxury of affording to fight for their space, through a twist of fortune may find himself homeless, with assets stranded in hostile space.
These are things for which you have to prepare, if you are serious about actually living in 0.0 for any length of time. Read the forums, listen to chatter, find out which alliance is doing what. When you are ready, choose wisely, but bear in mind that you may be joining on the eve of a collapse, and you should have an insurance policy or two ready in Empire.
And one day a situation will come, as it did for me when I was 6 months into the game, where you feel safer and more satisfied deep in your 0.0 than you do in Empire. It is a beautiful feeling, and that is when you will have won EVE.

Eh, I kinda see it like this:
It seems to me that 0.0 is tightly knit so when someone (like myself) jumps through their system, they may want to defend it. In my case, I had a couple of things fitted but it would have been a waste. If I would have been lucky enough to at least take one guy out, there would be more on the way. I may have made it out and I may have not.
I wasn't going to make war on this run. I was just picking up something and thought it would be cool to see how far I could get before someone could take me out. I knew I was playing with fire but it's cool.
Thanks for the info cmdr.

A good idea is to gather intel on the area before you even go there. Find out who if anyone claims it, what their policies on neutrals are, etc.

nice to see you understand it isnt a personal thing, nor a matter of 'griefing' when in 0.0 space.
Sounds like you would be a welcome addition to a 0.0 corp/alliance even (mature attitude on the gameplay).
