Widescreen is future of gaming wheter you think otherwise.
Ive seen it and what I saw is just plain cool. EVE for one is game that would benefit alot from having the option of using widescreen resolution.
the game I saw Was WOW on a 550Ç DELL 20" widescreen. (there is this effect once the ball get's rolling that others follow.) this will happen in LCD & SED - current & future monitor developement. So once ppl start talking other manufactorers follow. And I bet Unreal Engine 3 has widescreen resolutions as well.
so. it's cool mkay.

Eve supports widescreen resolutions, I have the 20" Dell widescreen and I play it at 1680x1050.

And I play it on a budget widescreen.
An Acer AL1916W 19" wide Screen at a res of 1440x900 (16:9)
Once you've played it on a widescreen, you'll never be able to go back to a standard.
demand is greater then supply = high price.
supply is greater then demand = low price.

Edited by: James Duar on 12/04/2006 11:40:09 I'm just not sure what the widescreen resolutions are. I can goto 1920x1200 but my GFX card wouldn't hold up to it.
NINJA EDIT: Also, what's needed is the option for an appropriate widescreen aspect ratio to the field of view.

And I run 2560x1024 with EvE spreading to 2 monitors...
Try changing the settings both in fullscreen and windowed mode and see what options you get. Updating drivers and desktop mode might help too

My 37" HD TV runs EVE happily at 1360x768. Do higher resolutions look significantly better?
The main advantage of widescreen for me is that windows in station aren't so cramped.

Hehe, ever thought about widescreen being a brilliant way of getting ppl with excellent 4:3 screens to buy 16:9 just because they think it's better?
I've never been a fan of widescreen, in fact... I hate it, but the world is apparently a bit more lame than me and soon I'm the lame one because all the previous lamers got 16:9 and I haven't. Anyway, even games like UT and NFS5 supports widescreen resolutions, but if the game manufacturers are plain dorks, they do like they did in e.g. Delta Force, support 640x480, 800x600 or 1024x768 ... instead of reading the possible resolutions available via Windows. Eve-Online have done it the smart way :-) Hardware:

Hehe, get 3 screens and a decent gfx-card, then you buy a TripleHead2Go from Matrox. Then you have Overview on the right screen, crap on the right and ship+info in the middle. Been thinking about this solution for some time now, but decided the TripleHead2Go is too expensive for what it actually is. Hardware:
Mainboard: Asus A8N-SLI CPU: AMD Athlon64 3700+ 1MB L2 RAM: 2x512MB OCZ PC3500 2-3-2-5-1 GFX: Gainward 7900GTX 512MB HD: WD Raptor 36GB 10Krpm

Anyone know if there is a way to resize windowed mode just below the default sizes?
In windowed mode 1600x1200 is just slightly bigger than my lcds, so it overlaps onto the next one. The problem causes a performance hit as the card has to render for both screens. So if I can get it down to 1550x1180 then it would fit perfectly and all would be well.
Any idea on how to do this or if it is possible? I hate dropping down to 1280x1024...

Why not run it fullscreen and just alt+enter when you need to go to window-mode?

Sorry about that Dropzone, I read too fast :-P
Well, there's a program somewhere that is able to adjust the windowed mode perfectly .. but heck, I don't remember the name of it. Though, I read about it here in this forum. Someone posted a list of downloads, 3rd party programs...

Yeah you posted too quick there....and yeah I know the proggy you are talking about but I am running on xp pro 64 and it doesn't work :(
There are some setting in in the pref.ini file regarding resolution, I might try and play around with them a bit. I have 4 displays (all 20.1 lcds) so it is nice to run 4 accounts at once. If they overlap however the performance hit goes from 120fps down to 21fps which is unbearable :(
I have also tried spanning with the nvidia apps, but that breaks other things. Although it is cool to run 1 client across two screens....
