Secondly, I like the Dominix model anyway. And thirdly, I don't think it makes a lot of sense for the Gallante Federation to take their old, retired warhorse and suddenly remodel it (fluff 4tw). Oh, and every ship is getting a sweet texture antinerf soon enough... /me faps at Vexor on EON's cover.

To be honest, there are only really 4 nice Gallente ship designs - the incursus (and t2), the atron (and t2), the tristan (and t2) and the Rax (and t2.) Vigilant is the nicest looking ship in the game. Brutix is crappy looking, as is Domi and normal Mega (although Vindis and Navy's look quite good.) Why don't we have more ships that look like actual ships, rather than lengths of rusting pipe with paper attached (Tempest), a ship that got left half-finished (Apoc), or lego bricks stuck together randomly (Raven). The only ones that give me any hope are the new Amarr and Minnie battleship concepts. They look awesome. There was a concept art somewhere on the forums of the Domi Mark II... that was awesome. REVAMP THE DOMI TO THE DOMI MARK II /signed _____________ STAIN ALLIANCE ....As I recall, people didn't much like the Vietcong, either. Revamp the Domi!

Sandzibarr	Posted - 2006.04.14 10:40:00 - [17] aye domi is the worst looking ship in eve imho.. the even phoon looks miles better. and thats saying alot about the quality of the domi's model. wouldnt hold out for a vastly different design in the upgrade however.. its kinda iconic now in its flying space-cow/asteroid/deformed-forehead way... but goddammit id sell my soul for a domi mk2 that was designed by whoever did the brutix or gall titan/carriers.

In the art department however, it's horrid. That last part is why I refuse to fly one. REFUSE. If it were sleek and sexy like the Vexor, I'd have three of them. As it is, I fly the Mega and dream of an Ishtar.

Ithildin	Posted - 2006.04.14 12:15:00 - [23] There are two reasons to remodel the Dominix: 1. It's ugly by Gallente standards 2. It makes the artists design new Gallente ships with a Dominix look - i.e. blobbingly ugly. Also, regarding the newer designs, why the hell are they reminiscent of the Dominix and not the Thorax/Megathron? The Dominix is an ANCIENT design, while the latter two are state of the art! It's like the US Military deciding to design tanks like they did in WWI. (Oh, btw, in WWI, the problem with the design, aside from being ugly, is that it was VERY suceptible to armour piercing) Drones are Gallente. Missiles are Caldari. Get this into your damned head!

I too refuse to fly domis because of the brown stinkyness! Just replace it with blue or red.. even steelgrey would be good.. Firstly, I think those bashing the phoon are crazy, it's one of the better looking ships IMHO. Secondly, I think both the front and the back of the Dominix looks good, it's intimidating in its looks. The side however is a whole different aspect, I would really like a small redesign and different color texturing, otherwise it's a cool looking ship =)

That's what gives it that "I flew into a Ved rock" look. In general I think that all the old ships should be redone to look cooler and be more detailed. Compared to the newer models they are just not anywhere as nice...

The current Dominix is too front-heavy, with the entire top slanting backwards which makes it look messed up...

Those look decent because they are black and shiny and evil-looking. The current domi is a turd with flies (drones) orbiting it. Good thing you cant smell in space, otherwise all domis would be required to bypass all traffic lanes by 200km because of the stench.

Sort of the way late model aircraft look markedly different from their early model counterparts. For the Minmatar, in particulare, the backstory would actually reinforce a significant visual shift in our ships' appearances. The Minmatar have grown from a hard scrabble rebelion into a fully fledged nation, and their ships can reflect that growth. I could see the Typhoon being rebuilt as a more refined, more brutal ship. Sort of like the evolution of the Wildcat into the Hellcat. Harry Voyager

I interpret the big green "windows" (especially the more oddly shaped ones) as being sensor platforms. To me, the Dominix looks like a giant sea cow, with exhausts/thrusters where the "hoofs" would be. All we need is some bottom for them to be grazing on.

I wouldn't worry so much about the design if the colour was at least sorted. Oh and it's not cause i'm immature, the Enterprise E is a cool looking ship, but i'd despise it if it looked like it was pannelled in oak. Make the Domi, Blue, Dark Red or Silver imo.
