I was replying to a post in ships and modules and was wondering about other peoples' tactics in combat.
Personally I'm an "all in" kinda guy, either he dies or I do, there's little or no room for escape.
I generally run with settings like this. Arbitrator 4 small neuts. MWD/web/point/scram or MWD/2xweb/point 1600mm plate/2xeanm/dcu armor rigs.
t2 hammerheads
It has a lot of EHP but doesn't rep or have any kind of escape. It's not great at turning circles either.
You basically drive it straight down their throat and hope your tank holds out long enough for your drones/neuts to pop them ;) The fight initiation is everything.
Same kind of build works well in pilgrims too. It's probably my favourite tactic, but has some obvious flaws.
Just wondering how other peoples' minds work?
Are you an escapist? or you like to dance around in something small and agile? How do you work ? What's your fav ship for doing it ? |

Depends on the opponent/whether I'm alone. 1v1, use my best frigate tackler+speedtank fit and hope for the best. Lots vs (or a smaller fleet), I like being a ganker more than the tackler or E-War. Large fleet vs Large fleet, I like being a generic DPS boat (because E-War gets primaried, Logis secondaried, tacklers are droned, command ships are next in line, etc. etc. so I'm usually one of the last to fall if FC doesn't get us warped out and/or we don't win) |

Depends on the situation, different situations call for different numbers of pilots and different types of ships. I like to win via tactics more than I like to win via numbers. In a very numbers skewed game, this is the only real test of your own and your pilot's skills.
As for favourite ships, I have many. From kiting in minmatar DPS ships to landing at 0 on your opponent in a blaster boat, I love it all. I tend to favour the latter just for how much of a BOSS you feel when skull-f***ing your opponent.
My history describes me more of a covert-ops kind of guy though and it's right, I love the stalking, setting up traps and finally killing an opponent (WH space - where not having local helps a fair bit with this)
Finally, I really do like logistics. Having logi V and other friends in logistics ships make you awesome, like that time some hi-sec war-dec alliance decced our WH alliance to take out a small POS in k-space. I believe at one point we fielded more logistics ships than their alliance had players, good times.

My favorite tactic is to stick a cyno on my ship and drop in my super for elite risk-free PvP. That tactic has worked out pretty well for me so far. |

I dabble in just about all methods. Back in the day (2009-2010) I was an all out brawler exclusively. Armor canes and abaddons were my ships of choice for low sec piracy. I ran with slave sets, +5% hardwirings and virtually maxed skills on just about everything relevant. But then the supercarrier hotdrop on small gangs got super popular, and that forced me to change tactics since that got terribly expensive in a hurry.
Now I'm a proper nano-*** and worse (nano *** + EW). I kite around people with my loki boosts and faction point. I use arty rather than AC's and my favorite mount is a faction fit nano curse complete with faction neuts for that oh so wonderful 44km capacitor rapage. That said, I still love a good brawl. I have a crystaled maelstrom + tengu booster that I periodically whip out when I think I can avoid getting hotdropped. With no speed mod and only a scram for tackle, it only fights what wants to fight and has no hope of retreating. It's very satisfying when I don't get hotdropped or falconed though. That ship has an awful lot of fight in it when properly setup and used. Puts a slaved abaddon to shame under the right circumstances. |

My personal tactic is to be killboard stuffing in the most entertaining manner possible. I always fight in ships I do not have real skill in piloting. I always commit. I always enjoy it. Sometimes I don't die.
If I have a solo kill on you, you are beyond terribad and should get out.

I prefer to use every underhand tactic in the book before having to resort to a fight there is no **** thing as "fair" in the real world so why should i fight fair in eve.
If i find ive got a advantage over someone ill exploit that to the full sure you can cry im a honour less noob but your still dead and i am not

Since I'm playing this game to have fun, I generally fly ships that maximize the chances of 'gudfites'. This means I fly something that can usually disengage if it's clear I'm going to be blobbed to ****, but has the power to brawl it out in one of those rare evenly matched situations.
Unfortunately both those criteria pale before the last - getting fights period. Since for some odd reason I don't find terribly one-sided fights fun, I generally aim to pew pvpers - and this means I'm constrained to flying ships that other people think they can beat. As much as I love my curse, I haven't undocked it in months. |

Personally, my favorite tactic, whether solo or in a gang/fleet, and whether were outnumbered/outgunned/even, you just suicide rush the most expensive opponent with as much DPS as you can, and primary the enxt ship based on value, continue from there.
honestly, i fly alot of suicide fleets with alot fo australians, so not much as far as "tactics" i guess... |

this ships scream Tracking disruptor
I personaly like more the kiting arby .... used it in past.
Now i fly what is needed (about 100 diferent setups in hangar). Intel, Intel, Intel .... choose ... hit .... run till reinforcements arrive. ... or wait if your blob is around.
did not seen many fair fights in this game for last 3 years. However I remember my beginings (got horribly spanked byt some highsec griefers).

I fancy myself a bit of a space-ninja (not the salvaging kind). Ill whiz around with a couple covops frigs and/or my cloaky prokbey boosty tengu (always have multiple covops) and watch and wait for a mistake to be made and appear out of thin air, kill it fast, then vanish as quickly as I appeared. I usually fly matari or angel ships unlesss I really wanna do some good ol buffer tank brawlin' then its Gallente all the way.

OP good question, I like the responses. I go into a fight with max hardwiring and ganky fits. As with a couple other post, once I activate modules I completely expect to loose my ship. My favorite setup is currently max skilled/implanted HAM drake. Just starting to enter my nano phase.
