You can do that now...ie, live solely off of pvp. It's just a question of volume of kills. But yeah, you know the gist of the thread is hows the RNG screw with you most of the time which I find to be true, although tbh I've gotten some really good luck lately with raven kills that resulted in multiple gist sb drops over the course of a couple weeks. That was more than enough to finance things for quite a while.

Remember all these high price uber faction items are ment to be an isk sink and hav already survived one ship explosion 
The idea of faction gear is to give the user a decent advantage at a high price, not one of the loters of the gang that killed him.
I expect its been designed like that on perpose, fiction and rare ietms are more likly to be destroyed, i guess you'll hav to kill ppl with only faction or uber gear onthere ship to get a good chance of a drop.

Every module on your ship, every stack in you cargo hold and every drone in your bay has exactly a 50% chance of surviving when your ship is destroyed. Any skew you see is just luck.

It is random, if you kill a ship and the good stuff doesn't survive tough luck, sometimes it does sometimes it doesn't, get over it.

As probably said before it is an isk sink, you loose almost no money on a full insured ship (excluding T2) if the mods just passed hands it basically means people are producing stuff and nothings getting consumed. Id say 95% of stuff lost in game is through PvP encounters, thats alot of isk being lost there and it all balances out.

It is not really and isk sink since no isk is taken out of the game.
To get back on topic. Eve is based on that stuff get destroyed. Almost everything in eve is based on that stuff get blown up. You can't have too much survive. And if everything survive the price on it will drop to 0 so the PvP loot will be worthless.
I think they got the balance right. My PvP kills are limited , but I am satisfied with the loot I got from the few I have.
You will always find examples that got lots of good loot either destroyed or survived. So you will have to look at the statistic of 1001 regular , tech 2 and faction modules if you want to make a case based on killmails.

And the loot from the victim¦s cargo hold? Do they drop everything or it is random?
I think about a camp killing a ite 5 with only giants cans filled with zyrdrine on their cargo hold.
