I suspect that this is not the forum for such matters however this forum was the place I spent the most time with and perhaps some of you remember me.
I am ALIVE.
My "meatspace" clone suffered significant damage. The rough math on the impact I endured determined that my head bounced off asphalt with about 9,000 lbs of force. So essentially, I fired myself from a personal 1400mm cannon.

Part of my experience was the temporary suspension of my Sapience. It has now been 17 months and a few days since my accident. I can only imagine the going ons that have occurred in that time.
"Give Eve players a few days and they will have a few dirty tricks."
All things being considered I am regaining/practicing my cognition via Computer games. My arms are physically recovered, though it took a large amount of surgery, however my nimbleness is shot. At least in the real world, give me a mouse and Nimble returns like crazy.
That, btw, includes dialogue. My ability with verbal communication is slightly impaired due to my time with Aphasia. Irony being what it is, I have no lack of any kind via typing. (Well, my typing skill is slightly impaired by copious typos which are "new" to me ... now.)
The way my primary care physician describes my accident is an easy way to describe it. Essentially I fell three (3) stories and landed on my face.
In that process, I mangled my arms and I cracked my skull in two places. Fortuitiously, the only scars I have are on my forearms. Compound fractures will do that.
So, to those who at one point wished to hit me in the head.... Unless you can swing a punch faster than 30 mph (and I doubt even I can) you won't kill me though you may wish to ().
Irony being ironic, that is about what I used to hit the ground at 20 years ago. Difference being that as a member of the 101st Airborne I landed feet first. This time, due to being thrown over handlebars, it was hands first. Couldn't do a good tuck & roll that way.
PS: F3NV draws my current obsession because of how accurate the recovery process for the Courier is represented. Granted mine was more detailed (relearning how to swallow was just my first lesson) but given the difference of impacting implements ... I am the Courier. |

Actually I found something even better than the "true stories" entry I wrote.
Many of you have never seen me, a few have chatted with me, and the nature of my psychology has been speculated (and chastigated) many a time however only a rare slice of this community ever got "it".
Well, here I am in video on youtube during a radio interview regarding my accident and other matters.

I remember you from MD forums and SCC lounge when I first started playing EVE. And your big coffee cup lol.
I watched the whole interview - very touching stories. And really, really bad luck with that bicycle. Makes you think how quickly your life can turn upside down by the most random and unexpected thing.
Anyways, you sound like a wonderful person. There should be more people like you. I wish you all the best in your recovery! |

..Shar...you have been missed. I can't speak for Eve proper, but I can say that my little slice of MD entertainment has suffered during your absence. You are and will always be a reason why "Eve is Real."
On your accident - I did not know about it, I just wondered when you would reappear back in Eve. I am honestly mournful for your accident. But I know something. I know that if anyone has the mental fortitude to endure such a severe trauma, if anyone has the iron will to recover, that if anyone has the straight-pure stubbornness to experience such a catastrophic collision with the earth and live to tell the story, it is you Shar.
For selfish reasons, I hope that you engage with Eve, specifically MD. It has missed you.
If there is anything that you might possibly require assistance with in Eve, I know that you have a friends list a mile long. But still, fell free to Convo me. It would be an honor.

Thank you.
Warm greetings would have been just that, warm like a pile of crap is warm.
Earnest and authentic, that is worth recieving and humbles me.
I can say that I will not be lurking these forums nor interacting with them. My cognition is not even close to what is used to be however this Mensan will try to relearn Eve with what capabilities remain. LOL, in Galaxy Quest (hilarious Star Trek Spoof) the line is "Never give up, never surrender".
Well, I've not only said that.. I've lived it. In fact my wife had to explain my behaviors to the 1st responders as I confused the hell out of them.
"With his arms so mangled, why did he keep trying to get up??!??"
My wife replied, "An Airborne trooper hits the ground and if he isn't dead... He gets up!"
So, while I am getting a little emotional over the "welcome backs" and "attaboys" .. I am looking forward to being a target for ove of you to pot shot as I zip past. And sorry, I will zip past you and get away long before you touch hull. |
