I have read somewhere about removing mineral drops from drones and putting something else on its place Can you please give us update on this? Is this coming?
That's very nice change and players would be thankful. |

It was soundwave who said he wasn't a fan of how things are. I'll get the exact quotes, so I don't getanything wrong.
CCP Soundwave wrote:I'm considering putting bounties on them and turning them into normal rats.
I hate gunmining with a passion.
CCP Soundwave wrote:This thread is pretty awesome. You guys will get a few 0.0 changes this winter, smaller ones that should improve quality of life.
One thing I'm thinking about, but not entirely sure about is this: Putting bounties on drones instead of minerals. Mining used to be a viable way of making money in nullsec, but the increase in available minerals has driven the price down. I'm wondering if putting bounties on drones won't give mining a bit of a revival and put some life back in 0.0.
There you have it. They are clearly planning to change things, but nothing seems to be in concrete yet and they are still looking for feedback. |

They hinted at new faction items in the Exploration Dev Blog.
I am really hoping it is faction Drone Loot to go with possible bounties.
I might start running there Complexes then. |

So the whole EVE economy is going to spin on whether one guy - CCP Soundwave - likes something or not?
So how many drones loot does it take to build a Titan?
What proportion of high-end mins come from drone-loot rather than null-sec mining?
Someone needs to do some proper research before making a change like this. And I suspect there might be a lot of other reasons why people aren't mining so much in null. The bot-nerf for one.

And I do mean specifically mean modules. Not ships ships are okay where they're at becuase they dont rain from the heavens like modules do in npc areas. IMO missions need to issue out blueprints as rewards for the newbie missions as well.

The effect that drone minerals has had on the wider mineral market has been nothing short of catastrophic, but on the other hand I like the idea that the drone regions work a little differently and aren't just another NPC faction with bounties and loot drops like all the rest.
Is there some way to keep the drone regions unique, but changing them to drop something other than minerals? |

The ideal scenario would be for them to change to providing something that was neither a mineral faucet OR an ISK faucet but was still relatively useful and valuable.
That might require some fairly serious changes (stretching far beyond the drone regions themselves) though. |

Keep the alloys, remove the reprocessing but make them required materials for Rogue Drone Meta and Faction items instead of normal minerals. Add items to drone drops that can be built into or reverse engineered into the new modules.
Similar for Meta 1-4 items from normal rats, just that the BPCs require T1 modules as a base.
This reduces mineral influx from rats and drones while increasing mineral usage through increased demand for T1 modules.

faction Drone Loot is ok... and isk is more ok then minerals... just dont put things that can be reprocessed in minerals at all...
and if you can... please... change reprocess tables so that they give less less less minerals from modules... or/and less low tier drops... (drops that ppl reprocess) in drops from all rats...
maybe is this nice thought:

Alongside Soundwave's drone region comments, something I'd like to see would be to stop modules dropping from NPCs altogether so that mining became the only source of minerals, and manufacturing of basic T1 items hopefully became a viable entry-level profession for hopeful industrialists. As things stand, alloy drops from the drone regions cripple the miners, and loot drops from the rest of space undermine the manufacturers (and the miners, if the loot is melted down).
If CCP ever gets serious about revamping the industrial side of the game, this would be a good start. |

I don't think CCP want to change invention too so no "kill named loot"
Maybe something like this: - No minerals from drones! - No dropping meta 0 items. - Change amount of minerals you get when reprocess meta 1/2/3/4 items to very low amounts!
This way we are giving industry CPR and its easy to do. |

I might start running there Complexes then. since STo is in the crapper, the big thing i thought was cool in the short time i played, was that you could "adapt" your ship to hold borg technology, as in it actually (kind of cheesy in hwo they did it though) would put borg twech on your ships hull.
i figure, Drone Loot could be subsystem stuff for non-T3 ships, lore-wise say something about drone AI interfering with capsuleer's link or soemthing. this way lesser ships will have a way of becoming slightly more powerful in whatever role they are, and customizing their appearance a little to boot.
now im not saying they become as storng as T3's, but strong enought that a group of them could be a threat to say a tengu (read GROUP, so a gang), the downside being making the ships cost almost as much as a T3. |

If CCP ever gets serious about revamping the industrial side of the game, this would be a good start. As mission runner I can't but applaud this.
Greatly decrease drops from NPCs and alloys from drones as well. Slightly increase bounties. Increase my ISK/hour and let me refuse less time consuming low ISK/hour missions - like drone missions. Let non-drone NPCs occasionally drop meta 1-4 modules like they do now but no tier 0 stuff so the whole meta 0 production only comes from industrialists.
Is this a win-win scenario for everyone - or am I missing something?

That's a big problem when you train all related skills and metalscrap processing up to at least 4, do you know how much training time is needed to get this "small" reward?
The amount of minerals coming from drones is exponential compared with items reprocessing, remember loot from rats is already nerfed and very often even frigates give better loot than BS's. If you really want to nerf that too then give back the sp from metalscrap skill and those related. |

When something is broken its must be fixed... And you are saying "keep all things that are broken and i like it broken and change only things that i dont like"... So CCP now "have to" get back SP to all players that have trained SC because they nerfed it??? So CCP "had to" get back all Indy skills to Indy ppl years ago when they nerfed industry with drone regions and other things that nerfed industry??? there is one solution... get all SP to all players back so they can re-distribute it every expansion...
as years pass, there are changes... some are good for you and some are bad... overall game is being balanced and you need to adapt like we all are adapting over all this years... |

And? I don't see problem there... Some ppl need to learn that size of ship isnt the most important thing... and ppl will appreciate more T1 ships... and that will make EVE richer game with more tipes of ships in space and less capital blobs.
and if mineral price doubles... it still wont get to the price it used to have... and... dont you think that its stupidly funny that mining isnt the biggest mineral faucet... its the smallest...
p.s. I, bornaa, have NO indy skills.
p.p.s and boom in mineral prices wont happen because more ppl will sweep the dust from theirs hulks and start mining. |

I don't see any problems in making 100m/h mining in Null. Still, people will dust hulks only when it'll be more profitable than whatever else they're doing. at 40m/h null, 15m/h hisec, it comes out as "just" 80/30 with 2x prices, which means that incursions are still up. The only source of minerals should be mining, period. I don't say this cause I am a miner, I have mined, it is boring, but it's good for watching TV.
Not only are mineral prices held down by having too many sources of minerals, the division of labor suffers from something of a substitution effect. Do you spend your time mining, or do you spend your time shooting rats? You can do either one and get minerals - one can be substituted for another. They are not perfect substitutes, but they are far too close.
Vertical business models are too easy and too common in Eve. The need for someone to specialize in mining is reduced by having too many sources of minerals. Mining is not a "mini-profession" it is one of the major branches of Eve professions. There should be no other way to source minerals other than a commitment to this major branch of the skill tree.
Drones can drop something else, something new, something that has a use and value. Use drone droppings to make those active tank hardness that Calais had mentioned. Maybe they drop something new that we can use to build organic ships, or T3 frigs ... something. :)
Rats should stop dropping loot and instead drop "broken" modules. The scrap reprocessing skill could be re-tasked to a reverse engineering. Level 5 in scrap can reverse up to meta 4 items. level 1 can reverse meta 0. The result of the processing are 1 run BPIs (blue print inventions) that can be stacked and sold on the market. This will not only reduce mineral supply, it will create mineral demand.
"Oh No, nothing can be reprocessed anymore?! Your idea sucks!" ... stop building so much stuff! The markets will correct sooner or later. |

I've mulled this over not long ago being an industrialist on this character.
What I would hope to see is A, yes the drone mineral drop removed, but B, not replaced by making them average rats.
Why not have them drop modules (a bit like WH rats) that can convert a normal ship into a drone boat? Make them really unique ships with a pod pilot controlled membrane, which gives a pod pilot control over a converted ship, where the membrane wears out over time like a laser crystal does.
Making them just like the rest of the rats would be bad for the diversity of rats in EVE i.m.h.o.

They are clearly planning to change things, but nothing seems to be concrete yet and they are still looking for feedback.

My point is that rorqual-boosted hulk mining on pure arkonor should be #1 income. Apart of metagame/trading activities, ofc. It should be over incursions, L4s, sanctums (apart of titans running these.. lol) The problem on it is that it's easily multiboxable, even at 5-10 clients. |

That's exactly why it should be changed. Mining should be the primary source of minerals. The reason that people don't mine high ends much these days is that the supply from the drone regions totally undercuts their market.

Tritanium at 5.0 per unit? Not in the past few years.
2007 - price was capped at 3.60 by the ability to reprocess NPC-sold shuttles 2008-2009 - dipped to a low of 2.00-2.50 for a very long time 2010-2011 - bounces between 3.00 and 3.50
A reduction in the amount of drone poo that drops in drone regions, however, would be a big boon. Something around 50% reduction, with compensation given back in some other way (meta 1-4 modules, bounties, tags).
You'd also need to take another swing at the amount of T1 meta modules being dropped.
Maybe reduce the ability to re-process salvage without having Scrapmetal Processing trained. Make that skill count for a lot more then it does today by lowering the base level of minerals that you can get back from reprocessing by 20-30%, with Scrapmetal Processing being used to make up the new shortfall. That alone would result in a reduction in the amount of materials flowing in from loot reprocessing. |

While that's true, and has been true for sometime, I really doubt this scenario was even intended. Mining should be a lucrative activity, and it should be where at least 95% of the minerals in EVE come from. So far, I think the best ideas in the thread have been to replace drone alloys with loot that is a unique ISK-neutral/ISK-sink alternative (something having to do with drone technology being put in your ship), while rat drops should be mostly replaced with meta 1-4 ingredients, but not whole modules. |

You are saying that miners place is at the bottom... and that's the place where miners belong... You are saying that miners place is at the bottom where all labour classes are... You are saying that miners are equivalent of a burger flipper...
Well then... why then industry and mining have huge skill tree???
You don't need to have PhD to a good burger flipper... You don't need to have PhD to a good laborer... You don't need to have PhD to be at the bottom...
But you need PhD to be a good miner/indy in EVE...
In eve mining skill tree is larger then for some other, much more lucrative professions... and if it is like what you say then please decrease SP worth of all mining skills by factor of 10 and give all miners theirs SP back so they can redistribute it to skills for more lucrative professions (aka. so they they can go to collage.)
If its like manual work... you don't need any school for that (ok... maybe primary)... |

For start I will disclose my bias, IGÇÖm high sec carebare salvager, most of my income comes salvaging lvl3 and 4 missions in high sec. I doubled in mining but salvaging was easier to train and generates much larger per hour income , even when I give half of ISK I get from salvaging to people that cleared the mission.
So having come clean about my conflict of interest I do agree that mining is not profitable enough, especial compared to amount of skills required to do it in most productive way. But I do not agree that mining should be only source of minerals, nor do I agree that meta 0 modules should not be dropping from wrecks. For start it makes no sense from lore point of view, why should New Eden be devoid of such basic technologies as recycling, and why should NPC ships drop no modules if PC ships do? From game-play point o view why should choice be removed from players on how will they get their minerals? Some might like mining and some might like salvaging to get their minerals, who are we to say to one group or another they should have their choice removed from game. Those are completely arbitrary demands made by people interested only in their profit rates and not caring either abut game balance or internal game lore consistency
Instead of diminishing game options for sake of narrow group of payers and their personal interest we should want to increase number of choices and make them as balanced as possible.
So to balance mining and salvaging I would suggest increasing volume of modules and drone droppings by large amount, maybe by as much as order of magnitude (exact size of increase should require some testing) . In any case volume of any module should be greater then volume of either ore or minerals required/generated by manufacture/reprocessing of that module. This is primary to slow down salvaging. In my experience salvaging lvl 4 Blockade mission will fill my Noctis to cca 60-80 % of max cargo, and on average Noctis could clean 1 to 4 lvl 4 missions before it has to empty its cargo hold. Increasing volume would ether force salvagers to select only most expensive loot, leaving most of low price junk behind, or would force them to develop more complicated salvaging methods, like jettison can salvaging, or group salvaging with industrial ships moving large volumes of modules to repossessing, much like miners do now. Either way it would reduce number of looted modules that end up reprocessed in to minerals thus decreasing mineral supply, increasing mineral price and in the end making mining more profitable.
Some additional benefits of this proposal would be actually making volumes of modules more consistent from lore point of view, for example small turrets on frigates look like they would occupy much more space then typically listed 5m^3. Also it would remove mineral compression abuses. Drawback would be much harder transport of modules, I suspect services like Red Frog would profit nicely form this, also I would expect more local manufacturing with imported ore to avoid hauling bulky modules. This would also likely increase profitability of of T1 manufacturing as less modules would salvaged and reduced long distance trade in modules would reduce competition. Overall I think this change would be good for EvE economy.

Same goes for level 4 and 5 missions. Multi-boxing is a very common practice in these activities.

1. remove about half of the isk bounties from incursion rats, replace with LP-per-kill 2. Increase meta 1-4 drops and salvage from incursion rats 3. replace mineral drops from non-mission/exploration drones with drone tech chart drops 4. add sleeper tech chart drops to WH NPC's 6. remove tech1 (meta 0) drops from all NPC's 7. remove all isk bounties from mission NPC's and replace with LP-per-kill (keep isk rewards for missions). 8. add LP store offers (requiring the new drone/sleeper tech charts), that allow for the exchange of different resource types at a fixed exchange rate. Thus acting as effective minimum and maximum market price for resources, to prevent utter crap like like prom&tech moons (btw, how the **** did that clusterfuck not get patched up somewhere during my three years of absence?) from happening in the future. 9 add a tiny random escalation chance factor to belt NPC kills since anoms are equal to belts these days anyway due to CCP providing us with a "dumb **** button" for finding anoms
et voila, **** is sorted out. No more ridicuslous isk faucets, no more high sec reward = nullsec reward, no more alliance dominance due to profiting from a tidal wave of isk caused by CCP ******* up supply and demand mechanics for certain resources. |

We are touching on 4 inter related game elements in this discussion, mining, salvage materials (from rats, rogue drones and player ships), loot drops (from rats, rogue drones, and player ships). All must be taken into consideration.
Mining: This should largely remain as it is, although mechanics to make it more entertaining would be welcome. Ore distribution needs work. If we define availability as:
Plentiful: Freely available in normal belts Rare: Limited availability in some normal belts Very Rare: Available only in hard to find belts, usually those spawned very small supply in a mission or complex. Virtually Non-existent: That 1% chance of striking the (small) mother load in a normal or mission spawned belt.
That leads up to this:
High Sec: Basic ores should be plentiful, Moderate quality ore very rare, High ends virtually non-existent. Low Sec: Basic ores should be plentiful, Moderate quality ore should be plentiful, High ends should be very rare. Null Sec: Basic and Moderate quality ore should be plentiful, High ends should be rare.
Controversial enough? Now comes the big change.
Loot drops: Eliminated.
The idea that perfectly intact modules drop in a can to be picked up is a simple game mechanic, but if you think about, it is more than a little out of character for the EVE universe.
Salvage: Salvage takes the place of the simplistic loot drop mechanism.
Salvage from player and normal rat ships produces only one thing, bulk scrap. Bulk scrap fills a normal ships cargo hold very quickly, but can be reprocessed to produce two things, basic minerals and damaged modules.
1: Basic Minerals: The amount of usable minerals produced would be based on reprocessing skills, and only a fraction of the minerals that originally were used to construct the ship, keeping competition with the mining profession in check.
2: Damaged Modules: Amount of damage could vary randomly, and can be repaired (for a price) normally. The modules would be either Meta items specific to the rats that produced the wreck, or a small percentage of the modules that were mounted on a player ship.
Specialized salvage collection ships would place an emphasis not only on tractor beam range and speed, and salvage beam speed and efficiency, but also on raw cargo space. A logical extension of this would be a Roqual like variant that can be brought in to reprocess bulk scrap in the field and perhaps compress them, allowing the minerals to be transported much more easily to production/market facilities. Possibly you could outfit them to be able to mount a repair system to repair damaged modules salvaged while still in the field, thus saving the repair cost in a station.
Special note: Rogue Drone Salvage.
Since Rogue Drones are unique, highly advance mechanical entities their salvage should also be unique. While they would drop normal bulk scrap like all ships do, their "module drops" would instead be specific to the drone/fighter/fighter bomber industry.
Make all T2 drones (scout, mining, logistics, EW) and drone oriented rigs require specialized components in their production, components that only drop from Rogue Drones. This could also be extended to fighters and fighter bomber construction, as well as the construction of any drone related rigs.
A small bounty could also be placed on rogue drones if necessary to keep them viable as an income source.
As an offshoot of this, I would also like to see T2 drones (and possibly fighters/fighter bombers) have a rig slot or two just as ships do. Specialized drone rigs could modify the capabilities of drones/fighters/fighter bombers much like normal ships, increasing speed, durability, range, etc. This would also mean that your drones become more interesting as well as a more valuable component of your ships equipment.
This whole idea was about 15 minutes worth of work, and is no doubt riddled with flaws. It would also require some significant changes to EVE code and may not be practical from a developers perspective in regards to time needed to implement.
However, I'm throwing it out there anyway as food for thought in alternate ways to handle the various problems that mining, salvaging, rogue drones and loot drops in general have in relation to each other.
Please forgive my wall of text. To kill the enemy and break their toys!

@ CCP In this thread are some nice suggestion how to revive industry... please... give us response... Are you going to do anything on subject of rebalancing mineral faucets/drains ratio???
In state in what EVE is now there are huge problems on this subject. The most of all minerals in EVE are coming from drones. And when you add up on that loot drops you are at the point where mining dont play significant role at all. That is WRONG. Mining needs to be THE largest SOURCE (If not only) source of minerals in EVE.
Think a little about it... - Is it normal to go to mine with shotgun to mine??? - Is it normal that shooting down planes give you more materials for making new planes then mining? (WOW we have here Perpetual motion here) - Is it normal that profession for which you must have PhD is giving you revenue of burger flipper proffesion? - Is it normal that profession for which you must have PhD give you place in society for whitch ppl are saying "they need to learn their place, its at the bottom.... where they belong."
Well... all that "normal stuff" we have in EVE.
Lets translate that on EVE:
- You load your weapons on your combat ship and kill drones and rats to aquire minerals. - You aquire more minerals (much more) with shooting drones and rats then with mining. - Mining skill tree is larger then for some other, much more lucrative professions (now), and you the least revenue. - Mining skill tree is larger then for some other, much more lucrative professions (now), and ppl are saying to your face "miners need to learn their place, its at the bottom.... where they belong."
You see something wrong here??? Ppl in this thread have solutions for this problem!!!
And about Manufacturing...
Manufacturing of basic T1 items is... well... dead... And that is the first step for young players that decide to go indy way in EVE, and it is dead. I think thats just wrong.
I will not here be writing real world comparisons (but I could do it) about it but i'll say it directly. That industry is based on T1 meta 0 items... isn't it easy ko just remove that items from loot drops??? Easy and efficiently problem solved.
Revive industry in EVE, please.

A few points: Do you really think a few hundred people ratting drones and reprocesing their alloays are bringing more minerals into the economy then all miners? WHERE ARE YOUR SOURCES ON THIS ONE!?
I call shenanigans! And just puting bounties on rats will jsut be another Fauet driving Inflation.....no thanks, perhaps a different kind of loot if minras really have to got, which I doubt.
Second: Why should a 99% afk acitivity as Mining be the most profitable thing in game? I aggree that the amount of money you make nowadays is lower than it should be. But for sitting in a belt and watching TV you shouldn't be better earning then other professions BY FAR. Even with all the skills (and the skills for Mining aren't THAT many!) its still a thing my dog can do...
reducing drops from rats: They already got nerfed. All Meta 1-4 prices dropped significantly and Meta 1-4 are reprocessing as nicely as Meta 0. What would reducing Meta 0 drops bring? Nothing. Eliminating all drops and higehr Bounty: INFLATION, hell yea....erm wait....NO
All are crying about higher PLEX prices, even you all....and you wan to increase ISK Faucets even more? no thanks, you sound pretty egoistic. If I were a miner I'd be lad with a more interactive profession with a nice income instead of wishin for a 99% afk profession with highes income. Why not just give you free ISK/hour so you dont have to play at all? |

Well perhaps it was the way that Zydrine & Megacyte prices tumbled by about 2/3 within 3 months of the drone regions being introduced that led us astray. Did you know that Zydrine used to sell for almost 4k/unit?
Do you really think that the few people who mine ABC in 0.0 are supplying so much ABC ore that they're keeping high-end prices at less than 1/3 of what they were in 2006, despite the vastly increased demand since then?

AureoLion wrote:Thing is, you can't exactely multibox over 2 - 3 chars in L4s/Incursions/sanctums.
I was responding to the statement about multi-boxing while shooting stuff. At best, I run two accounts for PVE. But others with whom I interact will run 3 - 4 separate characters in PvE activities. It isn't something that I would want to do, but it is done commonly. I am also aware of people running 2 - 3 active PvP toons (including myself) who are doing the shooty shooty thing. Some adventurous PvP pilots may even run more clients. Ships range from zippy sub-caps all the way up to the largest ships in EVE.
I don't want to get into a spat about numbers, rather I believe that it is relevant that the record is set straight regarding multi-boxing, PvE and PvP.

Aquila Draco wrote:@ CCP In this thread are some nice suggestion how to revive industry... please... give us response...

Then they'll need to harden the fuck up. Mineral Compression is ridiculous nonsense which has fueled several detrimental trends in Eve and should be removed sooner rather than later.
Of course 0.0 will still need its minerals to come from somewhere else (like a huge buff to 0.0 mining as part of a general industrial revamp) to make up the shortfall. |

While it has been mentioned here already, an idea I posted in the Features and Idea discussion (copied and pasted):
I would not mind if CCP took another look at the Scrapmetal Processing skill. As a player learns to become more proficient in this skill, they should be able to obtain "higher" level of minerals and in greater numbers compared to someone that has no training in the skill. As an example,
A player without the skill refines a module and gets back some tritanium and perhaps a partially melted nugget.
A player with one level of this skill refines a module and gets back tritanium, some pyerite, and a touch of mexallon, along with a large melted nugget if other minerals are still within it.
A player with two levels of this skill refines a module and gets back the full allotment of tritanium, most of the pyerite, some mexallon, and a touch of isogen, with a rare chance of pulling out some nocxium, along with a medium melted nugget if other minerals are still within it.
And further down the chain... these nuggets would be sold on the market as "Partially / Large / Medium (etc.) Melted down (item)" so a potential buyer could decide if there would be anything worth refining (if they had a high enough skill proficiency) to purchase and refine the rest.
Just a thought on the matter, without being so brash. The current "loss" difference between an unskilled player and a player that trained this skill makes the skill almost worthless to train.
As I was originally a miner at first, I would like to see a boost in the mining profession. But until CCP gets a firmer grip on botting for minerals, short of any boost being equivalent to increased complexity (direct live interaction instead of away from the keyboard interaction), any boost will just help macros with the mining profession being a simple task at best. |

 This man have a point...
why would ppl fight when they don't have a reason to fight? EVE was based on fighting for resources and CCP is now giving resources to everyone... what ever they do... what ever you do you get minerals... you kill - you get minerals, you salvage - you get minerals and on last place in this chain is mining... well... this chain is toooo long...
eve is ocean of resources... to make it interesting for many ppl and not only one group you need to make tap (only a tap) for each resource so that you need to want to get to that tap to fill your jug with only that resource... that way you make game more diverse... you can do many different things to get different resources... and you need to have people to do many diffetent things to have all resources (from many different taps) that you need to prosper.
in short: you need to get rid of that first two hoops in this chain of minerals. |

Not to derail but the way he's doing is perfectly legit. There is another thread where the mechanics get hashed out and CCP came in and said what exactly is and is not allowed. How he was doing it fell within those parameters. Click replicators is not necessarily bannable, it depends on how you use it. |

Why not change drone minerals to drop only very, very small amounts of high-ends? Enough so that significant grinding allows production for newer groups in highsec but not so much that it infringes on null/lowsec mining. Either that or very, very small amounts of moongoo for T2 production.
While we're on the subject, lowsec/nullsec mining needs a buff. The current problem is the risk/reward for gankers. People can say "bring a fleet of PvPers to protect you!", but this can be easily countered by bringing high-alpha snipers. Bring a bunch of artypests or artycanes, warp in at 100, pop some miners, warp out before any real danger presents itself. That's too easy IMO, and that's coming from a lowsec pirate who loves easy ganks. Now, I'm no video game designer, so take this idea with a pinch of salt, but I'd like to see something like this:
A new siege module for the Orca and a buff to the current one on the Rorqual. This module will project the shield of the ship it is fitted to to a 10KM radius.
- Any ship (excluding the projecting ship) can't be targeted within this shield.
- Any ship inside this field cannot target other ships.
- The projecting ship cannot move while this is active.
- This shield has a cycle time of 5 minutes, and consumes Strontium.
- Ships cannot warp from inside the shield - they have to wait for the shield to drop, or they have to burn outside of it.
- The shield relies directly on the ship projecting it. To balance this, the module grants an active shield tanking bonus (I'll leave you to do the numbers).
- This module also provides a mining buff to members of the fleet, in the same way a ganklink would.
- This module cannot be used in highsec - THIS IS IMPORTANT. Why? Suddenly you've got a module that makes mining more efficient, which means more minerals, which means more profit. But it requires to to go to unsafe space to use it. Risk vs. reward.
The point of this is to balance the current risk/reward to low and nullsec mining by offering some appreciable protection for miners, whilst forcing them to put a pricey ship (Orca or Rorqual) on the line, and allowing them to better fill the role of mining support ship. It also means that bringing a defence fleet will be a valid tactic in basically all situations, as the attacking force has to stick around and fight. Attacking a mining op turns from a quick gank into a situation requiring tactics and an actual fight.
It also gives people something to fight for, which is something sorely lacking in lowsec. Back in the day of static DED complexes you could find fights on the gates to those basically all the time, because there was an actual resource to fight for, and it was fun. Lots of fun. People need actual resources to fight for, and this is a prime example of where you could give them one.

Thank you Spoken as someone who has never taken the time to train Scrapmetal Processing V... If mining is to be the only source of minerals suddenly a lot of null-bears are going to be pissed when mineral compression stops working... Who Cares ? Its just a game right ? Miners should be one of the most important part of this game. I want to see this game as whole experience not only part of if !! If you love to mine a have fun with it ? great !!
Ccp forgoten about some players and they are paying for it... Right here , right now .. Coz some devs like soundwave etc.. Got WET DREAMS about holy molly umba power pew pew ! And now they may loose theirs jobs !! so manny misstakes...
Dear ccp try not to forgot that games are not only about pew pew.. Yes mr soundwave you to. I can give you eg. like farmville!!! yes yes dear ccp farmville! imagine those millions of Dollars without pew pew :)
Btw. Ccp here is a tip and its for free. If you want more female players.. You should know what to do. Mining !!! I know many female Miners! Some of them are moms etc but in most they are bored coz they cant get iskies !! Do something with it! Or hire me in advisory group :) (im game dev in rl and got some AAA titles under my belt. not joking :)
Anyway... Im not miner but i love to watch at huge mining OPs ! Its freaking great ! Really ! 20 hulks just after dawn!!! Nothing can match this
Im that one null-bear but without pve XD and i dont care about drones.. But drf and theirs bot-net cares.. For sure..
Fight for asteroids digging !!! Remove min drop !!!
I love you man... nice said...
p.s. Is CCP just ignoring us players - again??? |

Random Thought that needs working out:
Why not have drones drop moon-goo.......
Pros: The lack of local sources of moongoo is one of the major hindrances to null-sec industry. Drone plexes are available in all spaces, thereby potentially providing a small source of goo to all regions.
The isk from tech moons rarely goes to individuals, but to Corp / Corp leaders. This would move some of that value back into Average Joe's pocket.
Cons: The isk from tech moons is a major source of conflict within EvE. If you devalue the moon too much, it will no longer be such a tasty target.
Drone Belt Farming (*cough* botting ) has already shown its ability to massively influence the EvE market. If this is not properly balanced, the results could be devistating.

I see many good suggestions here... moon goo from drones... hmmmm....
and I see OP that is trying to get all things on one place...
and I don't see CCP... :/
well.. maybe ccp isn't changed... maybe they have all this changes prepared... little pew-pew... a few ships... rebalance that they are working now... and eye-candy... but when you ask them about something that involve changing game mechanic that would bring prosperity to more ppl then pew-pew things... well... nothing...
well... we tried to make EVE better place... |

Aquila Draco wrote:you have a point... I don't have hard evidence... but... read a little all forum discussions about mining and drones and loot in last 2 years and you will see many many good points on that... like... prices before and after drone regions were implemented... but... that's rubbish evidence to you... i know... And where is your evidence on "few hundred people ratting drones" LOL few hundred??? ...you must be joking... right??? I didn't say "put bounty" or "make more inflation"... but... whats the difference about monetary inflation and inflation of some goods??? I don't see a difference... minerals ARE isk for indy ppl!!! And if you can AFK mine in low sec or WH or 0.0... then i applaud you... then you are botter that make so much isk that would not give a damn even about few hulks lost per day... or are member of one huge 0.0 empire and mine in protection of large fleet... and when we are at AFKing... whats then with AFKing lvl4 missions??? much more isk in there and are done afk... And skills... no... they aren't long at all... hulk/orca skilling for max yield (no one would mine at all for anything less) and ok defense... that you can do in trial... /sarcasm off and about drops... did you read what i wrote and what other ppl wrote... at least a little? didn't think so... end egoism... well... you are definition of it... just looking whats good for you... and not give a damn do you hurting other group of ppl... even not not give a damn do your egoism hurting EVE itself... it would be great for EVE that things get a little more $$$ so that ppl use T1 things too... it would be great for EVE that ppl use smaller ships too... ships that are driven only by noobs and then forgotten... it would be great for EVE that we see all range of ships in space and not only T2 and T3 variants with faction/deadspace fit... it would be great for EVE that ppl use sub-caps over only SC blobs in low/zero sec... but some ppl think larger -> better... well that's telling something about them... "If I were a miner" I know that you are not because you don't know what you are talking about... and i think that CCPs intention isn't to make game with only one profession... because that game would be dead a long time ago... * writing in hurry - sorry for errors
WOW... someone was mad... but you have good points covered here...
some ppls isk isnt only isk...
about drone regions... well... LOL...
how ppl think you can afk everything... without even trying it... just trolling... how to afk something somewhere when you would be ganked many times per day...
and about cheaper ships... yea... CCP have to revive cheaper ships... |
