Ya sorry for the confusion I meant alt as in the same account. I don't use two account's and Im not going to pay for 1. But eh I got 2 other characters I can train one to be a scout thats on a carebear alliance or something with a high sec to scout out other care bears.
I got another for a Hauler/shopper for me to resupplie when killed or needed to upgrade.
Not two accounts 3 characters 1 account alt being another character for 1 account and 1 only

It's just how things work. Like it or not, but most people use alts and 2nd accounts and people are free to do whatever they like with them.
I see the sec. penalty as a serious problem, if you want to do something else again later with this character. Many people don't pirate forever.
For me it's enough to ask myself, if I want a -10.0 on this char or not.
And I'm forbidden to pirate ofc by my alliance and my corp. 
Btw. Alts and alt-corps are used/abused in the same way to do stuff during empire wars. You can't stop it anyway. If you stop alts, many people have 2,3 or 4 accounts, me too, so it doesn't work.

my opinion on this is, scouting is fine. its perfectly sensible and intuative to have someone go right ahead of you and gather intel on whats coming, nothing wrong with it.
i do however think its not right that people can use noob alts to do it, things that dont matter whatsoever and takes away the risk (and with it some of the fun, most of the fun in this game comes from risking things). scout by all means, but make it so proper players have to do it, especially when its so easy to stop it happening.
for instance, now you are unable to train certain skills on trial accounts. basically just make a simple and cheap skill that is required for the use of 0.0 gates, that requires spaceship cmd 4 or something, something that people going into 0.0 will and should have anyway, but something that only paying accounts can do. im not saying its the perfect uber solution, and theres probably much better ones. im just thinking on the spot giving out an example.

If there wasn't any possibility to use alts to scout, I'd scare other players into scouting for me.
Using alts to benefit your main, I see only a part of the game-mechanism.
If you don't like the game, go play WoW.

Game mechanics force you to use alts, choosing not to is choosing to be less effective.

Looks to me like the use of alts to avoid main's penalties is just gonna be a fact of EVE as unfair as it might be. It's just too bad I can't switch to a 5 mil skillpoint, BS flyin, T2 to the max alt character whenever I encounter pirates.

You do realise that buying stuff from empire and scouting is really the only viable use for alts? Also, (iirc) as you cant have more than 1 char from an account logged on at any one time, scouting with a regular 'alt' is impossible, and that if the low sec market was even a shadow of the high sec one, you wouldn't need alt for transport? I mean, who wants to spend 4/5 hours flying round to buy the mods to fit a ship, when you can use an alt and travel 4 jumps for the same setup?
I dont understand the people who thing using a transport alt is lame. Sure usign alts to scout is on the boundary of lame, but when the only viable method of being able to play the game is to use an alt to go shopping for you, i REALLY dont see the problem. Its not like the alt give us some advantage that normal players dont have - shopping with an alt is far more hassle than with a main, still takes longer, just doesnt make it so that buying mods is what we spend 90% of our eve time doing (thats no way to play am MMOG).

Not lame. Remember the alt is still the same player.Just a disguise. Just like in RL when you decide you need to be someone else for what ever reason you change your identity. Same you just a different look. Also lets you take a break and go on vacation for a bit.
So the alt is an awsome effect IG.
Also because of the sec hits. Any self sufficient Pirate should always have alts to transport.Unless CCP decides they wanna seed the low sec systems with enough to adequately fit the needs of low sec denizens.

I have about 3000 years of millitary thinking and practice that says scouts are anything but. The fastest way to get a lot of people killed is a lack of informaiton.

I would not camp a gate without a scout. In fact, most of the time I run two scouts as well as my main. Lets you spot likely targets in advance and run from likely problems.
One of my scouts is a second account, the other is a trial (he's still deciding on wether to subscribe or not lmao)
dont forget your Crane hauling alt.. so 3 acc¦s ? ^^
