Edited by: Rells on 24/04/2006 13:29:15 Just a proposal to handle macrominers that crossed my mind. Im kind of sick of needing ot look in 50 belts for a nasteroid to orbit to test my ship config and I can imagine how they hurt the newbies.
1) Make it so that barges can not be driven by players in newbie corps.
2) Make it so that mining lasers can not be fitted to any ship larger than a cruiser unless you are in a player corp.
The whole idea here is to make it so that the macrominers cant use the most powerful mining tools without being in a corp. A corp which could then be war deced and then we, the players, will handle it from there.
Just a thought ... comments?

The best one is that after 3 Months they get moved out of a Noobie Corp into another Corp which has no restrictions and can be War declared on. Ive only been pleaying for 2 Months and im already on in deep 0.0 In fleet ops and mining So 3 months is enought for people to get the hand of the game.

They will just adapt. In my area there used to be lots of macro miners in barges, but Bl4zer and his crew made life too hot for them. So, they adapted, now there are lots of macro miners in battleships round here.

And if they cant fit mining lasers to battleships then what?
As for them being in BSes, Im not the slightest scared of their BSes.

They will do something else, they will find a way to mine.
Originally by: Rells As for them being in BSes, Im not the slightest scared of their BSes.
Missing the point. They reason the moved to battleships is that it is next to impossible to kill a battleship using sucide alts.

I mean im not scared of them if I wardec them. If all they can mine in is cruisers they cant to much damage without being FAR more obvious than they are now (hundred ships needed to strip mine a belt fast.) Those more obviould groups would be easier to deal with.
As for using suicide alts Im pretty sure that is not entirely legal and shouldnt be necessary.

As long as you don't recycle the alts its ok, and as for being necessary, it won't let me wardec The Centre for Advanced Studies.

:( i' am actually growing pretty tired of these macro-miner haxor foriegn hating threads. It seems alot of people play this game now with the sole goal of suicide ganking macro-miners.
Has anyone actually thought that you are targetting the wrong group - that maybe the players buying from ebay etc are the ones who should be targeted.
This falls into CCP domain to curb n control. Until then leave em alone and play the game. I for one wont let a few 24/7 miners dictate how i play the game.

hence the reason I want to make sure the best mining tools can only be used by players in player corps that you can wardec.

then you need a fix so that the wardec system isnt a channel for cheap empire piracy, so that small group of friends who form that small mining corp arent just open game to every pirate who is too unskilled to find people to shoot at in 0.0.

I tell you what, you give me the names of those who buy from eBay and I'll pass it along to the suicide gankers.
Maybe you don't mine, but in regions that are infested with macro miners the gameplay of those who wish to legally mine is being ruined by those who choose to cheat.

Just do what we do. If you suspect its a MM sit right under him with a retriever and mine everything within his reach. Seeing how he can only reach 12k and a strip can reach 15k its easy. Myself and a few friends do it alot and they stop coming to our areas. now they see us come and they move on. they are easy to spot. 3day accts. useing western style namin but still unresponsive in local and useing a bestower named someones armageddon and an it1. its entertaining to watch them warp in and out of an empty roid field with a can with 1 piece of veld dumped under them that says yup im in idiot macro.

Attacking the Macro miners is the only that people can get rid of them but if you don't want to ruin your sec rating just eve mail or let some pirate corps know where they are and let them do it. After all if they have to spend their isk replacing ships and equipment they will have less isk to sell on ebay. OK what NOW???? |

thats my point its in CCP's hands to find out those players both selling and buying. I seems like madness to me that CCP would introduce changes in the game mechanics to stop (for a short period of time) macro miners.
I have been playing this game since beta and travelled the length and breadth of its fine galaxy. I can honestly say that i have not once had any part of my game enjoyment hampered by macro miners.
The demand for iskies on ebay etc is what must be addressed if this demand is stopped via enforcement then almost all problems are solved.
To say that macro miners are eating up every roid available is just plain wrong!

Here's another idea. why doesnt CCP just contact EBAY and let them know that it is license/trademark infringement for them to sell or display anything related to EVE and ISK and it should be removed at once. Im sure there is 101 things they could do... if they wanted to

So for those of us staying in the Noob Corps we're just out of luck to be good miners? Pretty sucky to force us out into a corp when we're enjoying the company of other NPC corp members.

They would just sell elsewhere. Only thing CCP has real control over is the game.

the problem with that is that it could end up like that guy in WOW who is suing blizzard for loss of earnings etc. so stopping macro miners will have to be ether player based or via the actual mechanics but how can the game mechanics tell the difference between macro miners and a group of friend who legitimately gang together to mine for mutual protection and profit?
OK what NOW???? |

SOE shut down alot of their stuff from Ebay, but they had the lawyer muscle of sony corperation to back them, and this was before the draconian DMCA was devloped. i think Lawyer power is the main thing CCP lacks and why they dont persue this in the real world.

Nobody mentioned the players that are buying that ISK did they? You all know you are, you lost a expensive ship, and your right back into a carbon copy of it.
Stop buying from them and they will leave the game...
Play the game like your supposed to and they will leave...
Stop buying the trit, and mine your own...and yeap they will leave the game.
If anyone is to blame it will be the buyers, not the sellers.

I'm with you there Javren !
Having had very little mining experience, I don't know to what extent macro-mining has affected active player mining so I can't fully appreciate the scale of the issue however, I am, despite my support for in-game interaction, significantly more single-player and NPC corp orientated.
With this in mind, should I ever decide to have a shot at mining as my principal occupation, I would much rather it didn't affect my perogative for NPC corp membership.

Being a miner i do see the effects of macro miners straight from our buyers. He has lowered his buying price of clear icicle from 100k/pc to 64k/pc because the local macroers are willing to sell it that cheap. The local macroer has contacted him and set up a lower buy order lower than the one i had established a little while ago. not sure what he is using to mine but it barely keeps me going. in fact i am about to give up on it do to it not being profitable. i can only mine 10pc per hour in a retriever give or take. and if you ever mine ice youll understand, i have done alot of sudoku games while waiting.

...except that a in a single-player corp, you don't get the NPC corp chat channel and I'm not convinced that if I set up my own corp specifically to allow me the right to participate in high level strip mining, that my friends in the NPC corp would then follow ?

It's odd but some of the major sites listed on this site a.k.a. "EVE Zone" advertise cheap ISK for sale. If CCP allows this I have serious concerns regarding their commitment to end macro mining.

Get your best friends from the NPC corp together and form an industry/mining corporation of your own. It really ain't all that scary as some people make it out to be.
You can even make your own chat channel if you wish to remain in touch if they do not wish to leave the safe confines of the NPC corp sandbox.
