Well, here is a spin on the OP story :)
I have always been anti pirate and I distincly remember my first pirate kill in Y-MPWL.
He was in a blackbird and to my own big surprise he was abandonded by his mates at a gate with no Bookmark.. I killed his blackbird and his pod... and then...
I felt really bad.. I ended up paying for his losses... a pirate... omg LOL
well, i got over it and now i just shoot and move on :)

Just remember, its their fault! You're not to blame, they should have been prepared to defend or run in low security space. Killing people is necesary, it weeds out the stupid from the smart, the weak from the strong, and keeps inflation in check.
Many carebears derive their fun from peaceful and constructive activities like mining and production, without any demand of either they'd be forced to leave the game regardless!
May I also suggest punching a few cats and/or filthy horses?
Morality? I'm not talking about morals here. It's just a game!
What I'm saying, is that the sense of satisfaction in actively hunting and killing dangerous targets who fight to the death, far exceeds that of preying on targets who you know can't fight back.

First guy I killed didn't do anything, I wanted to let him go , but his destroyer went ''boom'' in 2 missile volleys from my caracal I thought It would be a nice match, 2 1 month old characters in a frig and a destroyer, vs my cruiser, but felt bad about it after
My next victems were a month older then me, but in frigs, We had a nice fight, but again, I felt bad about it, and I let them warp off without using the scrambler, then they chased me around the system for 15 minutes, 1 guy in a BS, got blown up the next day by 3 pirates, I'll just do some missions till I try again:)And I will not let anyone go next time.

yeah been thru that. I find it pretty strange though that in a real world situation where i was in a war scenario. I wouldnt think twice about putting an end to the life of an enemy. But in eve i find it difficult ??? worrying.
Actually now that i think of it the problem i have most with popping folk in eve is wether or not theyve deserved it. I think i have a moral issue when it comes down to wether the person i' am shooting deserves to be podded or not. I feel sorry for them if i find they dont deserve it. I relish it if they do

Edited by: Sidyous on 26/04/2006 15:37:50 Don't worry it goes both ways, I used to occasionally feel bad about killing pirates but that was usually until I got a load of gibberish in local from them with lots of 1s and 0s in it with the occasional 4.

the only time i felt bad killing someone was this one guy in a empire war and he was in a bantam. For some reason the name of that ship makes me sad when i kill it cause it seems so helpless.

Yaaarr it will pass. What i do, ransom! Your giving them the choice to live in there hands.
Alot of the time you get hauled with abuse which makes killing easier!
Dont forget theres messures ingame to help them, if they choose not to use them. Well, tuff tbh :) -----------------------------------------------

Don't feel bad about killing someone in low sec even when you're not a pirate.

QFT!!! I popped a guy yesterday that convo'ed me up later and asked me how was it possible that he was unable to warp away...my jaw dropped. Here he was, in a corp that was within an alliance, 2.5 months old (had a crap setup too...projectiles on a ferox...lmao), and he had no clue about warp scramblers. I know thats a pirates bread and butter, but to be in an alliance and have no clue about them is very sad indeed. Some people are very noobish in this game and they make nice corpse trophies :) Please resize sig to less than 24000 bytes. Mail [email protected] for further info - Cathath |

NEVER! I made and alt and day one, learned warp scrambling and went out and had some fun, by day 2, I killed: 7 Frigates, 12 Noob starter ships, 1 destroyer, and 2 Battlecruisers (I kid you not...mining in a battler cruiser ftl...lol.) All in my super rifter :) Please resize sig to less than 24000 bytes. Mail [email protected] for further info - Cathath |

It gets easier, normally goes something like this
*You scramble/web npchunter1[Dominix] and shoot him down to 10% armor*
You then convo and ask for ransom if thats the sort of pirating you do?
npchunter1 > WHY?!?!?! STOP j00 > 20 mil and you can go npchunter1 > omg ill never pay you! *swear words and comments about your genitals/mother*
after this you'll find that you look at low sec pirating in a different light and the killing/ransoming will come naturally
Good Luck if you choose to continue on the dark path ___________________________

Edited by: Warpus on 27/04/2006 11:47:49 I just started this game about 8 days ago, and so far it's been a blast. I like the idea of being a pirate, I just have to get over the whole morality issue I guess.
If someone that I actually had a real chance of killing was being an idiot to other people I would happily kill them.
My achilees heel seems to be the folks that aren't doing anyone any harm lol. Regardless, I have warp jammers and webs trained now, so I suppose it's only a matter of time (drunkeness) before I either kill or be killed.
Edit: Tried to make it easier to read.

Originally by: Voculus If you want the thrill of destroying another ship, without the guilt of whacking some noob or hauler who can't fight back, then you should start hunting pirates.
The targets are much tougher, you're helping to keep vulnerable people a bit more safe, and it's far more rewarding.
And it also means the pirates don't have to hunt for victims. They come to us --

There are three phases of going full murderer:
1. Excitement of things to come 2. Guilt of actions preformed 3. Apathy torwards the generally idiotic playerbase.
At point three it becomes your civic duty as a carrot to beat the ever loving **** out of people that slipped past Darwin's net. Welcome to the darker side ♥ --------------

Whats all this guilt nonsense?
I wont profess to being a pirate at any rate, but I do occassionally roam about low sec when bored looking for someone to kill.
In fact, as far as I remember, with the first cruiser I set upon, I was fuming with rage that the pod got away. I wanted to hear the splat.
And then of course, because the pod got away the pilot was still in local, smacking away. Disguisted, I safespotted and went afk for 15 mins, then came back and moved along to the next system.
