Edited by: Siigari Kitawa on 25/04/2006 20:36:17 Yeah, you read it right... Siigari is a pirate.
I was TOTALLY excited after I formed my new corporation, so I immediately ran out to a .4 system and started camping a belt. While out there, I had the experience of killing my first neutral. I was so upset about it that I actually gave him 6.5 mil isk to buy a new Thorax and apologized. I told him I was new at pirating and he laughed.
Anyway, yeah. I'll get better at this, I hope. _________ www.siigarikitawa.com

The second guy I attacked in low sec I ended up letting go because he wasn't putting up any resistence and I felt bad for hurting him so easily. It turns out he didn't even knew I was attacking him.

My advice is...
Think of victims as food. Play with them, smile at them, feed on them. You will need to satisfy the hunger. It is hard the first few times but after your 5th kill, it is just another target.
HTH.
EDIT: Felt bad when I took my Vagabond BPO. Wanted to give it back but... miiiiiiiii preeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeecious... ----------------

Yeah, I actually gave money to my first pirating victim aswell...
Since then I've managed to stray from the pirating ways, but not without actually pirating ppl succesfully. ------------------------- Ten thousand days in the fire... |

Don't waste time on belts, if you're going to pirate you might aswell make some ISK in the process imho.
Jenny has the right idea, empire gankage ftw.

Edited by: Lefevre on 25/04/2006 21:08:44 Nearly 3 years ago I had just finished outfitting my very first cruiser - a blackbird. My entire goal with the game was to become a pirate and I was excited that I finally had the option and one of the very strong pvp ships at the time (remember only few had battleships back then and most were in cruisers and the blackbird could actually use cruise missiles). I ran out to a 0.4 system and jumped from belt to belt and looked for targets however I had a low amount of experience at this so I had to keep looking, but the more I looked the more excited I was about finally becoming a pirate.
Finally after an hour I found a lone thorax in a belt fighting of some npc cruisers. I locked him up, scrambled, webbed and fired a few cruise missiles. After my initial volley I ceased fire and started up a convo with a ransom request seeing as he was low in armor and had a bit of structure damage. He decided not to pay me and I just couldn't get my self to finish him off so in the end I disabled my scrambler, saw him warp off and I warped to a planet and logged off and had some thoughts about why I couldn't get myself to do a thing I had wanted for an entire month.
The next day I tried to pirate a few more times and with slightly more succes actually destroying a frigate however I ended up feeling bad about killing a newbie so I spent most of my wallet purchasing him a new ship. I advanced through the next months and learned how to deal with Eve being a game and playing my part as a pirate.
Today 3 years later I hardly blink when shooting people and rarely I feel some shame of the kill but once in a while when you kill a newbie and remember the days when you started out as a pirate you just can't help reeimbursing them .
Anyway good luck Siigari and remember to wave the Jolly Roger!

Edited by: Dan Black on 25/04/2006 22:33:23 People that are killable (miners npc-ers) in low sec are stupid people, that don't look in local, don't know about game mechanics, have neglected all the bells and whistles CCP gave us to tell one it's NOT SAFE.
Don't feel bad about killing someone in low sec even when you're not a pirate.

i remeber like my first few kills.I belive i even let a few go totaly free even some 3m ransoms on things i could have easly ransomed for more.
Then some wanabe anti-pirates killed me(7v1 ).Then it hit me,i can't be nice if im going to make money this way.So just kill and ransom dude never feel regret for what you do.
even tho im not longer a 'real pirate' i wish ya the best of luck.

It's easier when they don't talk. Be sure to pod -- it's the best way to avoid feeling guilty looking at their name in local.

I'd feel too bad about pirating....
not to mention pirating in 0.3-0.1 sectors is risky for everyone! including pirates.
I'm content to go hunting for rats out in 0.0 space by my POS.

If you want the thrill of destroying another ship, without the guilt of whacking some noob or hauler who can't fight back, then you should start hunting pirates.
The targets are much tougher, you're helping to keep vulnerable people a bit more safe, and it's far more rewarding.

Aww, morality.. how cute ^^
Just remember, its their fault! You're not to blame, they should have been prepared to defend or run in low security space. Killing people is necesary, it weeds out the stupid from the smart, the weak from the strong, and keeps inflation in check.
Many carebears derive their fun from peaceful and constructive activities like mining and production, without any demand of either they'd be forced to leave the game regardless!
May I also suggest punching a few cats and/or filthy horses?

That remembers me: I also suck at pirateing I searched for possible victims, found 2 barges mining happiely - and my *censored* conscience wouldnt let me kill them
I warped into the belt, sat beside them for about a minute till they realised i was there and warped away in panic (i guess so cause they left their drones) ...

What I've found that can be rather fun is lighting someone up till they have about 50% structior left, then sit on top of them like a spider with it's prey webbed and warp scrambled. After a few minutes most log off, then you kill the ship.
