I encountered a problem, been doing missions for caldari navy.Without realizing it, my standings got lowered in gallente space. I did several dozen of those 3 part technological missions, in the end you find out its gallente invading caldari space and you have to kill them. Well now it is not safe for me in gallente space. So the question is how do i raise those standing without being able to go into there space. A friend of mine suggested doing Interbus missions, the logic i guess is that Interbus is friendly both towards gallente and caldari and that will somehow raise my standing with gallente....Can someone confirm this. If not, what can i do?

I don't know about the interbus thing. The interbus agents dont lead to storyline missions, or at least the one I tried did not, so that did not seem to help.
You should check out the diplomacy skill. It raises your effective standing for hostile agents; depending on how far down your standing is, that might pull you out of harm's way.
Another option, if possible, is to do minmatar missions. That will give a side effect of raising your gallente standing.

You can improve your gallente faction by deliberately failing caldari important missions. This will give your caldari faction a bit of a kicking though.

An alternate method would be to do missions for the Minmatar which would indirectly boost your Gallente standings to the point where you wouldn't be on the Gallente KOS list. As Prant mentioned, training Diplomancy would also help.
Although why would a honest upstanding Caldari want to work for the damn Gallente?

Edited by: Kalidiva on 26/04/2006 12:18:06 i;ve been doing the same but from a gallente point of view, to such an extent that my caldari standing went to -3, even my amarr standing was too low to do amarr missions.
I had to use an amatarr agent to get my standing with the amarr navy high enough to do missions, even though now i have access to level 3 amarr navy agents my base amarr standing is still -1.05 i think, it also slowly worked up my caldari faction which atm is -1.9 i think.
What i planned was to get all the navy factions as high as i can and just use them to regain faction standings.
1 question i do have though, do the story line missions you get off a level 3 agent give you more stnadings than a story line missions from a level 2 agent, or do all story line missions give the same standing increase.

Because we build a pleasure hub into each and every one of our stations...
That and maybe he is tired of all the platinum blondes running around in Caldari space.
I am curious though, how bad did your standing to Gallente have to be before navy ships started wanting to kill you when you entered Gallente space? I might have to change my plans to visit a friend of mine that moved into Caldari space a while back (he misses the pleasure hubs too ).

-5.0 or lower is the KOS point for factions.
For concord, it depends on the security space you want to enter and your security status (entirely separate to standing).

I could be wrong but I don't think so. If anything you may see lower increases the higher your standing is. I'll try to explain. Let's say your standing is 0.0. You do a storyline mission and gain a 5% positive modification to your standing. That 5% is applied to the difference between your current standing (0.0) and the max possible standing (10.0). So your standing is now 0.5. Let's say you do another storyline mission and get the same 5% modification to your standing. That 5% is applied to the difference between 0.5 and 10.0 which would equal 0.475. So your new standing is 0.975. You can see these percentages if you go to the Standings section of your character sheet and right click, Show Transactions, for each faction (or corp or agent).
What I am not sure of is if the average percentage gain per storyline mission increases depending on the level of regular missions you're doing. I would think not though.

Heh these speculations are how misinformation gets started. You can check out the missions forum for more details, but to set a few basics straight:
Important missions ARE based on the level of missions you used to cause them to happen. A given important agent doesn't have their own level- they assign the proper level of mission for what type you did that triggered the invitation to come do a mission.
The amount of gain you get for success is indeed a percentage of your distance from 10.0 standing. A loss of standing is based on your distance from -10.0. The PERCENTAGES you get for an important tend to go up with level and difficulty. Also, the type of implant you may occasionally be offered in the mission reward goes up with level.

While raising diplomacy had some affect on the negative standing, before it was -7.37 diplomacy to level 4 brought it to -4.37, I don't get shot at in gallente space anymore. But i feel a major relocation thats going to happen in the near future, just to help raise that to a more manageable level. I guess in a perfect world we could all have neutral standings towards all the factions. As such, EVE is no perfect world.
