Painted as seen in Eve, fullly assembled (stand attached separately). Large enough scale that you can see details on Fridays, yet small enough that a battleship can fit on a standard desk (capitals are fine to be too large for a desk ;)). |

Still, there is obviously interest in word. Now we must make a few, see how they sell and take it from there!
Why would you not start with the most iconic and asked for ship in Eve ever? |

A white board from a year ago showed that the Rifter was in some state of a visual revamp. No idea if that is still valid, but I wouldn't be surprised if it received a sort of careful polygon upscale remodeling that we saw with the Megathron and other iconic ships. If so, they'd want to wait for the revamp to base a model off of.

Caldari Raven In kit form. I'd say about 6-8 inches long that can sit on a desk or shelf. Unpainted of course for the extreme nerd factor. Can realise the dream ship skin that way. Price, if you go anywhere near the price of the last ships. No way ill buy. Hover around a reasonable kit price -ú20 remembering that decent star ship models from the star ship collection coming in at 4 inches are only -ú10 I'd most likely buy the whole eve set you produce.
Yes I'm a sad old nerd I collect Sci Fi models. |

Being a veteran modeler for over 45 years there is no reason why you [CCP and us] can't have our cake and eat it to.
1) CCP is not going to suddenly go into the model production business .. its getting contracted or sold out to ?? 2) There are options for resin, vinyl, styrene plastic (Revell. Tamiya, Aurora Plastics, etc.) the Aurora Plastics company is already big into SiFi kits for years. 3) Scale is an issue due to the wide range in sizes of hulls so several different scales will need to be considered. If the scale were all the same a 24" Providence would make a Merlin so small you'd lose it.
If kits from the Frigs, to Cruiser, Battle Cruisers, were made in a plastic kit outlet ... guys like me could build, install LED lighting, EL strips for engine nacelles, custom paints etc.. - that would make my day. (Yes, I would consider being commissioned to build them for others) For someone like Say,m Revell to do this .. CCP would simply provide the 3D models they already have. Revell could then design the injection molding tooling from that. Not IP on Revel's behalf. (or Aurora Plastics)
Larger hulls like battle ships, freighters, etc, these can be cast in resin and mass produced with good paint jobs and nice display bases to keep the prices in check. I think (never held one in my hands) the models CCP had on sale in the Eve Store a few years back were done in resin. But there is a limit on over all size due to limits in resin and structural intregerity. No SIF for you !
I've been kicking around finding a local company that does professional, HQ instant prototyping (3D printing) and doing a one off as a "proof of concept" deal... Depending on the hull, complexity of shapes and protrusions. ... this "positive" plug could also be used to create a silicone rubber mold for making urethane casting resin hulls ..
just thinking outside the box. |

Well, then call it the proto-titan. It's a giant-ass ship, it has a doomsday-weapon, it's a titan in all but name. Also I think it still exists, since it was never destroyed or dismantled. |

What about Tornado and Talos? They are both so sexy, would be great to have either stand on my desk! That being said, I think all t3 BCs should be considered since they are generally more unique then other ships. As for the size, I'd say its better to make it big, 1:1200 for battlecruisers at least. |

I would love a true high detail model kit (assembly and paint required) in a 1:350 scale.
Catalyst would be my first priority complete with a choice of rails or blasters
SOE Astero including a full flight of drones would be my second priority
Comet with a full flight of drones is third.
In this scale the Catalyst would be approx. 25 cm long and 81 cm wide making for an awesome display piece! (assuming that the Catalyst is supposed to be 88m by 284m), the Astero and Comet would both be around 20 cm |

I'd say remove the large protrusion underneath the Thorax. It would make it more streamlined and sexier. Joseph Askold > In space nobody will hear you talk to yourself. Except Amarrians and Concord because they bugged your ship but thats another story. |

Not exactly the purview of this thread, but there are several models that could do with 'tweaking' like that.
There are also models that have absolutely no balance. Balance is important since we supposedly have ships doing speeds and accelerations measured in 'infinities'. Bilateral (at least) symmetry is visually pleasing even to the layman's eye. An unbalanced ship just simply doesn't look right.
Oh, and Jake... do you truly support James 315 and the New Order? Rather foolish, that. |

I would love to see a Nyx.
Lighting would be cool but most of all it needs to be high quality. The quality of the models you guys had originally was quite bad. The color was extremely washed out and the fidelity was quite low. I'd like to accurate color and proper casting.
For what you were charging for the old models I'd expect something similar in quality and representation to some of MTH Trains' HO Scale models (Without the moving parts, lights and sounds etc of course)

I think that the models being similar to the very high-end gundam models from Japan will make them the most meaningful to own. I would feel much more attached to a high quality model that I invested time and effort in to assembled and paint myself than to a cheap-feeling toy that I would just buy and put on my desk.
The huge fanbase of EVE Online and the personal attachment they feel towards their favorite ships should make for a huge market potential for high quality hobby grade kits of most ships in EVE.
That being said, I would gladly purchase the Rifter, Hurricane, Vindicator, Archon, and Hel. |
