An Eve Census would be cool. More than just age tho, like how many are a particular bloodline, how many are in npc corps, etc.

CCP did some datamining a while ago and came up with 7 months. Thats the average time period for a eve player. They also showed some other data that showed that something like 90% of players are less than sex months old, while a few have played eve for 3 years and have 40-50 million skillpoints. --- The Eve Wiki Project |

I think the average age in Eve might be rather high for an online game based no the fact that I met way more older (and yes i mean older as in 50+) players in this game as in my former online game. Also the amount of players my own age seems to be way bigger.

I'd say an average age of 28, while most other MMO's would be around 23.

The youngest i know is 13, but the group of players mostly are around 18-32. With a few exceptions being above that age group. So my guess is average age is 24-26, somewhere around it. But lots of people don't act that age ______

I actually used the logserver a few weeks ago and discovered that my total time in game was just over 6 months solid. Yes thats in total without breaks. Im heading into my third year in game now and still as active now as I was when I started...probably more so in fact.
Im 36 years young and have just shy of 30 mill skill points. The majority of players I have met or am in contact with are all in the 30+ age group with a few exceptions of course.

I rather judge the player base on the photos from player gatherings and the "Post you pic" threads.
Most are young, 17-25. Most are just starting life, or have one year of school left. some have kids, some have wives/husbands some have wives/husbands/and kids.... few are over 35 very few are over 40 and only one that I have seen and talked to is over 50
Most have a job, but dont make the money they want to... Some are still being supported by Daddy's money... Some do nothing all day but play eve... (RICH Mudder Pockers!)
any thing else?
Dont mind me I am just trying to catch up to DS and HK on the boards.... |

Just because you spend a lot of time online does not mean you have no life.....
I play at least 30/40 hrs a week. I hold a full time job down (55 hours a week)
I still do the usual stuff...cooking/washing/ cutting hedges and lawns and helping with homework and other family related things.
I have a great life tbh. I interact with real people in a virtual world yes but it costs me an awful lot less than one evening in the local pub (which I still do on occcasion) and its also an awful lot more satisfying than watching some of the junk on tv these days.
I get sick to death of 'you on that ruddy computer again' comments from people who I know for a fact sit and shove 3 to 4 hours of violence and heartbreak into there lives every evening via the 'other box' in the corner of the room.

I'm 36 and I guess that's towards the top end of the spectrum.
IMO Eve has an older population due to the fact we tend to have less free time to play than your average youngster.
Because life gets in the way, the ability to train skills offline is great for me, as I still have some chance to keep up with players who can put in many more hours in game.
Iskies are a little low on the ground though. Shame they don't just re-pop in my wallet over time!

That's what I like about mmorpgs. People of all ages, backgrounds and nationalities can have a good time together. We deal with each other in game terms rather than real world terms. Which is why I prefer to not use TS...it brings more real life prejudices into the game. ____________________________________________________________________

It's actually two questions being answered here.
First, the average age of the subscriber - the person behind the account - is around 28 based on the information submitted to us last time I checked.
Second, the average age of the subscriber in months of subscription is actually about 12.9 months. It's been steadily increasing with both the growing age of the game and the growing customer base.

That means the average player age has almost doubled (i heard 7 months a while ago). A very good sign for the game.
And average age of 28 is very good. I think the wow population average is 13...

45 here. I know people in their 50's that play the game. Course, met some 13 year olds too.
One of the fun things about Eve is meeting people all over the world.

thirty-teen.
being serious: I'm 21, and by the sound of my corp/alliance mates on ts,I seem to be one of the younger members. I'd guess the average age of an EVE player would be somewhere in the 25-40 range. -------------------------------------------------- Loyalty, Integrity, Honour. |

I'm 16, and looking at local/other chat channels I feel kinda old
Had another character before and started playing when I was 13, can't say age ever stopped me from doing what I wanted

Ok rugrats and curtain-climbers... 54 here.
Been playing MMO's for about 6 years. Came to EVE as a WOW refugee. A significant reason for leaving WOW (other than game mechanics and 'yucky' end game/PvP) was the immature community

I rekon playing Elite when you were 2 years old was pretty bloody clever!! Most 26 year olds I know spent 1984 eating dirt and crapping themselves :)
Im 34 myself and all my mates playing are over 30. I spent pretty much the last half of the 80's playing Elite. In fact, the Elitelikedness of the games general premise is the sell I use to convince mates to join up :)

31 here... Around 2 years ingame now aside from a 6 month break to Wow. Maxed a char and found the end game to be unrewarding and basically an item hunt. No room for solo'ing. Came back to give Eve another shot, very happy so far Started this new main char.

That means the average player age has almost doubled (i heard 7 months a while ago). A very good sign for the game.
And average age of 28 is very good. I think the wow population average is 13...
I don't think so. Oveur said, IIRC, that the average player accounts last seven months, not that the average of playing people was seven months. It's a subtle distinction.
PS - I'm 31.

I'm 19, but most people have guessed my age to be around 25-30. Don't honestly know why...
As for the youngest player... We recently had an 11 year old in our corporation. Not sure if it was his real age or not, but he sure acted like it.

I turned 27 last December, shortly after I began playing EVE. You can tell a great deal about a person's age, based on how they type in the forums.
ppl who type like this and dont care about punctuation spelling are usually about 14 to 17 lol also they dont use periods lol they just type lol in between every sentence lol

32. I'd say the average age is 25ish.
Theres nothin like thinking that a pirate is a 14 year old griefer, and then having him come on teamspeak and you find out you got robbed by a 50 year old father of 3.
Not that it happened to me, but I'm pretty sure theres some old fart pirates out there.

Of course, when im 60, technical progress will probably be amazing. Holographic games connected via the internet, played in the real world...yummy. --- The Eve Wiki Project |

Those are pretty interesting stats really aren't they ?
I mean, not many games in the industry have an average subscriber age of 28 . And an average subscription duration of 12 months I imagine.
It makes me wonder what the ratio of total started (non-trial) accounts since release versus total active accounts is.
