Hi!
This is a post to give you guys a heads up that we just deployed the first version of a new testing framework to Singularity. As a result, it's possible that you will notice differences between your client behavior compared to other folks', or even differences between two of your characters if they happen to be on different accounts. Don't be alarmed!
If you aren't familiar with A/B testing, it's a strategy at that allows us to try variations in implementation simultaneously, which can be a very valuable data gathering tool.
For this pilot, the only feature affected is a new set of tool tips. The main goal currently is to simply validate our A/B implementation and so we are happy to let you know so you don't think something is broken .
Thanks for testing o/ |

Any way to tell which version we are looking at?
And where can we find these changes. Are the versions linked/ isolated to a solar system or in game function. If i dont know something about EVE. I check https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/ISK_The_Guide

A few tooltips are a bit weird looking(text going out of it or out of place(?), pics on imgur album(easier to upload) : http://imgur.com/a/MU77T
it is at 90% UI, so that may be the issue there.
If needed I could add arrows to the points of interest, but I hope you can find them yourself?
#And I did notice both my chars having different showings, which was fun! I like the look I had there if those textbox issues are resolved since capacitor/health are far easier to see when hovering over it!# |

For those needing to create new characters/ or use and alt for testing to make sure we are able to test both or all versions could you tell us how you split the characters so we can create testing characters in the opposite group.
Is it random or split alphabetically this time? If i dont know something about EVE. I check https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/ISK_The_Guide

@Merida DunBrogh: Thank you for your report about UI Scaling at 90%. I was able to reproduce it and wrote an internal defect about it.

It is quite random as far as I know, but it is per account (as already stated by CCP Rise). Just creating new characters will not help in this case. CCP Habakuk | EVE Quality Assurance | Team Gridlock-á Bug reporting | Mass Testing |

I just looked through the pictures again and found 2 in there that I had an idea about instead of them actually being issues.
http://i.imgur.com/ub5CVeq.png - Shouldn't that be saying that I have "no drone bay" instead of "Scoop to Drone Bay" in the tool tip since kind of every other thing also says "not in approach range" etc.
http://i.imgur.com/xWYzxfs.png - I like the hotkeys being shown when hovering over it, but could they be made slightly more obvious? It is not hard to spot them I'll admit, but I think it could be made slightly more easy by making the letter have a more differing color from the box color.
Looking forward to where this project will go :D |

that way players could immediately compare the possibilities
maybe you could even plug a design survey and/or feedback form into the testing ui, attaching player's feedback to test metrics Little Things to improve GëíGïüGëí-á| My Little Things posts |

Now that i know what to look for and have logged in and my alt is in a effected account
good improvement for new players and old.
Think some of the neocom ones are not linked to context text yet or have a size larger then the rest of the client, They don't shrink like the module one does if you drop the text size. Using a 90% client.
You are going to send it live to TQ in this state?

I seem to be one of the chosen ones =P so here is some feedback I think that the new tool tips waste too much space and maybe are a bit too large in general but mainly the space between lines of text and text and the border should be much smaller https://www.dropbox.com/s/d566g1g0d8hmgqv/2014-03-28_19-59-09.png (red colored parts are just not needet) https://www.dropbox.com/s/i0h6sy7v90hmdeo/2014-03-28_19-58-21.png
in some cases the text is broken over for only one word instead of making it just a little longer which wastes a lot of space https://www.dropbox.com/s/5nmp3hv9pi8pl18/2014-03-28_19-54-42.png

To explain a bit more how this all works:
Right now we are testing three things on SiSi: We are testing the new tooltips, we are testing the A/B-testing framework, and we are making sure the old tooltips haven't regressed given the above development/changes. For this testing the users on SiSi were split 50/50 into the new tooltips and the old tooltips.
On TQ we will deploy this in at least three phases: First phase will be a "dark" deployment in which everyone but selected CCP devs will have the old tooltips. Second phase will be the experiment where a certain ratio of new players will get the new tooltips. Third phase will be a general rollout to all players (based on positive results from the experiment). It's during the third phase we will do the normal round of devblogs, etc. Erlendur S. Um... If I remember my history correctly, this was done once before several years ago with the neocom, except the users had control of if they wanted to take part or not. And if I recall, 80% of the feedback was ignored anyway.
This version sounds like an excuse to force unwilling players to beta test for you. I wonder if this is necessary because of how sisilauncher.exe was killed in order to add the launcher.exe in spite of universal negative feedback about ever part of the process.
edit: ah, I get it... it's to reduce the amount of feedback on a feature, so you can blame us for not giving you feedback when said feature is awful. Maxim 34: If you're leaving scorch-marks, you need a bigger gun. |

While i can see the need for a slow role out and that the sample size needs to be large for the new player retention data point. Seems like a waste of a good tool to test stuff on Sisi at a larger scale while still able to use TQ candidate builds. How many A/B cases can the new system support?
