Alright. Im specializing with my interdictor. Have had it for a bit. But am still looking for some fitting advice especially from people with lots of firsthand knowledge.
For Solo PVP i have been Testing: High: Sphere Launcher, 5 Standard Missile Launchers(named), 2 dual light beam lasers Med: 1MN MWD, 1 20km disruptor, 1 eucatic cap recharger Low: local hull nano, small rep II, Damage Control
with this i can keep out of web range pretty well for most anything. and slaughter them from about 13km (out of med nos range). Trick being that i focus on speed for survival more than anything else. the eucatic being there to help keep the MWD going. Although currently with my skills im about 5-10% off being able to perma-run it.
For Group PVP: High: Sphere Launcher, 3 Rocket Launchers(named), 4 dual light pulse lasers Med: 1MN MWD, 1 7.5kmkm scram, 1 x5 web Low: energized nano, small rep II, Damage Control
thinking with this is to be able to get in and hit harder, also being able to assist with web and such. The energized adaptive over nanofiber is in the thinking that i'll be able to sustain a little more fire.
advice, comment, etc. please

do you find that you need the 2 nano's? and what is the point of the sensor booster? most times you dont need an insta'lock

Heh that's exactly what i use. Sometimes a cloak can be handy though. Enemy fleet jumps in - uncloak bubble WTF?? no more enemy fleet.

2x nano is for insta (or almost insta) warping from the gate. Really handy and lets you keep up with inty gank squads. Also lets you accelerate faster and get the hell out from any problems.
Sensor booster is there because nothing else fit there (not enough CPU). Also instalocking IS needed. When you camp gate with spheres enemy has to move 2km to get away from it. This means if it is enemy inty you need to lock him FAST and scramble him just for another 2 seconds so rest of the gang (assault frigs, cruisers, 3x sensor booster BS etc) have time to lock.
And yep - for fleet combat i do use cloak. It is much better than trying to warp on top on em.
Ah btw: 102 posted kills (+ about 20 that i didnt recieve killmails for) in 2 months using Heretic speak for themselves. im pretty good in using it, setting traps etc. Ofc. there is place for improvement but i feel that current setup is enough for me (and it is cheap).
PS. I lost only 3 heretics to date (one of them was friend AFK flying thru EC )
EDIT: I dont use pulses because heretic is still slower than intys and its big signature + being close to enemies (with probably webs) + weak armor (comparable to crusader) means it will pop fast. I prefer to stay at 15-20km range where only nosferatus can reach me (although i was thinking about rockets + gatlings/dual pulses gank setups - but sabre is SO much better at this).

Edited by: Necrologic on 04/05/2006 22:10:13 My belt piracy setup: 3x dual light pulse 2's (conflag) 2x rocket 2's (em, explosive, and rage of each) 3x knave nos Mwd, scram, trackingdisrupter2/caldariecm2 Small rep, 2x wcs.
Goes about 3km/s with my skills, deals about 130 dps + close to the equivilent of a heavy nos. You can use rage rockets since your cap recharge comes from the nos. The stabs make it almost impossible to kill you, and you lose almost nothing for fitting them. Another option is a plate and aux core or hardeners of course, but in general either you are fighting a cruiser or smaller and you will win with the stabs or hardeners/plates, or you are fighitng somthing bigger and hardeners/plates won't save ya. There is no sphere launcher as this is a solo setup for low sec belts. Works great for a pirate trying to make some cash off loot/ransoms without risking too much. I can kill up to bc and bs with it aslong as they arn't anti frig or using nos, and can kill ceptors and af with ease.
EDIT: Takes adv weapon ups 4 and all other fitting skills at 5.

Best solo Heretic setup I've tried:
Highs: 1x light neutron blaster II, 3x light ion blasters II, 3x rocket launchers, sphere launcher. Mids: Mwd, warp scrambler, Web. Lows: small rep II, cap relay, 200mm plate.
Even though the Heretic is an Amarr ship and has a tracking and cap bonus for lasers it really doesnt matter. Dual pulses suck. Blasters do more dps and dont need the tracking bonus and who cares about range when you have mwd and a sphere?
Even with tech1 blasters it's still better :S

Gang: 5xStandard missile Launcher II 1xsphere launcher 1xMWD 2x x5 Web 1xSAR II 1x200mm steel plates II 1xCPU processor/MAPC

If you bubble enemy he still can move outside this area. And if you are gatecamping with dictor enemy ship has to move only abt 2-3km to get out. So it his case sphere is not for holding the enemy but to give me (and others) time to use normal scrammers.
If you play a bit with dictors you will see what i mean :)

Thanks for the explanation. I see what your talking about now, the bubble is just the initial warp stoper but the scram is for continious warp prevention.
I can't wait till I am able to effectively pilot my Heretic. I think it is one of the coolest looking ships there is and its purpose is sweet.

3x small pulse laser, 4x rocket, sphere mwd, web, scram dc, small rep, energised nano
3x small pulse laser, 4x rocket, sphere mwd, sensor booster, scram dc, small rep, energised nano
for fleet stuff unless i am ordered to fit it, i stay away from the cloaks - it's not worth the sensor penalty. the role of the interdictor is to delay the warp long enough to get the proper tackles on - u cant tackle if u can't target. sometimes less is more...zero |

4x dual beam + 3x launcher (the 1st setup on this page) is pretty good fleet setup (when you dont want to cloak).
If enemy plays "warp in warp out" better get cloaked setup (easier for fleet commander to set up traps).
As for combat - when sth bigger than frig targets you just try to get out from the blob ASAP :)
I also fly 5x standrd launcher setup but its only for instapop factor (5x precissions do hurt).

Meds: 1x 1MN MicroWarpdrive II 1x Stasis Webifier II 1x ECM Burst II
Lows: 1x Co-Processor I 2x Capacitor Power Relay I
Preferably 2 vs. 1 gangs, you jam & drain target while a friend does lots of damage to them.

Idea is ok (was planning blasters or autos) but... capacitor will die :/
If you are going close range try to fit nosf or even 2...
I had plans for 4x guns + 3x nosf + sphere (dont remember mid/low atm) - for solo ganing.
EDIT: Just checked.. You want to use dictor without sphere??? Then get malediction/crusader or even vengeance (if you like being hit a lot).
With this setup you die easier than ceptor, have worse speed and comparable (or worse) damage... No point IMO.

Hi 4 Dual Beams, 3 std missles Sphere OR 3 pulse, 4 rockets Sphere (for a little more in your face)
Mids are the same. MWD, Sbooster and 20km Scram
Lows are the issue? SAR is a must i think, but would you go for 2x Nano or nano and Inertia Stabilizer or 2x Inertia Stabs? im thinking that one of each will help with getting out of dodge when it all goes wrong which it will. Any advice please in what you would use.

Edited by: Kaosaur on 07/04/2007 21:39:09 Edited by: Kaosaur on 07/04/2007 21:35:15 I fitted out a fairly comedy setup because I had money to blow. It's 100% T2 except for the Sphere Launcher of course. It's also got rigs...yay! (Edit: Oh yeah, the rigs aren't T2...whatever)
Gang Setup Highs: 4x Dual Light Beam II (Aurora), Improved Cloaking Device II, Sphere Launcher Mids: 1MN MWD II, Warp Disruptor II, Sensor Booster II Lows: SAR II, CPU II, CPR II Rigs: Dynamic Fuel Valve I, Energy Discharge Elutriation I
At the moment, I only have my lasers trained up to T2, hence the lack of launchers. The choice of rigs was because they were cheap, 20mil between the two of them. They both decrease my cap usage, which in my book is always a plus, especially when you're running all of this crap. There really is a lot of room to play around with this setup by changing what rigs you use and perhaps using nanos instead of CPR or something like that. You could of course make things even better going with faction gear and all that if you've got infinite money, but considering even with my skills, I only have .13 CPU left and 22.41 Grid left after the rigs...it would be tricky. With the Auroras and the WDII, you've got a nice range of right around just under 24km.
Total cost of this @ Oursulaert system only market: 65mil, including the Platinum insurance.

Yes, but the high cpu use pretty much restricts you to fitting nothing else. My setup, a concession to the fact that I'll be called primary every time, so staying to fight is suicide:
High: Bubble x2, Cloak Mid: MWD, shield extenders (I think they fit, not logged on to check) Low: Nanos/IStabs
Drop a bubble, get the hell out of there, you have no business getting into the fight with a tissue paper ship with zero dps.

i fly a heretic and an eris and the heretic when i decide i want to pvp, thing is nowadays if you check the market prices on the heretic average seems to be around 6 mil and the eris slightly more average 8-10 mil.
now take into account the average prices of interceptors and its close for some, and cheaper then the more popular inties.
question is, when i fly mine i tend to leave the launcher in the hanger because of the 100cpu req of it, just so i can run 4x heavy pulse II's and 4x upgraded limos launchers with ecm fof missles
now even though leaving the launcher at home, nerfs the main reason for its existence why would i fly an intie over a dictor even though it may not quite fly as fast as some of the inties it should in essence be an awesome anti-frig/intie ship.
my pvp is limited because i have to make isk for a variety of reasons, but i still like to try to get in some ops with the alliance.
so considering the price of these ships now and since there hasent really been any updates on fittings in a bit, anyone out there thats been flying these for a bit got some new fittings they can share?
oh and i wish dictors had a % reduc on cpu fitting like what cov-ops get for their cloaks. ------------------------------------------------- Pimpin Hoes and Slammin Cadillac Doors......

It only has 4 Turret Slots, you should be more worried about your hitpoints. Just fit it like a cheap Sabre (... and a very crappy Sabre):
MWD Med Extender EW Module (web, scram, etc) 3x Speed Mod
Fit a Bubble Launcher and then look at your cpu, its almost gone ^^ So try rockets and 200mm ACs with barrage, if youre lucky you get half the sabres dps at half the range. really worth it...

Alright, to keep all the Heretic setups in the same place, I'm necro'ing this to add the Khanid change info, as follows:
"Heretic (Interdictor) Hardpoints: 6 launchers (+1), 2 turrets (-2) Fitting: 230tf (+19tf), 57mw (-9mw)
Bonuses 5% bonus to rocket damage per DD level 10% bonus to explosion velocity per DD level 10% bonus to missile velocity per Interdictor level 10% Interdiction Sphere Launcher ROF per Interdictor level (no change)
The Heretic has similar bonuses to the Flycatcher, but the rockets only damage bonus and the low CPU makes rockets more suitable than standard missiles. The Explosion velocity bonus makes the Heretic better for taking down high speed targets vs. low speed, low signature radius targets for the Flycatcher. "
Anyone have any new setups? -----------

So it's worth the higher CPU cost of standard launchers and the loss of the 25% rocket damage bonus to go with standards? I'm guessing the strat would be to (obviously) stay out of web range, so would the velocity bonused-rockets still be too short on range? -----------

Rockets work but bonus is to EM missiles...
Scrambler is an option but the bubble should work well enough. Most of the gang will have points so I prefer Tracking disruptor to go after larger targets. But again, your mileage will vary. Depends on the circumstances. If you are solo, then yes. But solo dictors tend to die alot.
Remember you will be primary to most gangs. Getting out alive is key or your gang will not be happy bunch.
Remember, you are speed tanking an expensive fragile ship that will be hard to replace in deep 0.0.

Anyone tried setups with an improved cloak II?
With an overdrive injector II you have decent cloaked speed and with a inertia stabilizer you can warp off faster. Then slap on a mwd II and you can sprint away to recloak or warp away after sphere deployment.
This way you might get away after sneaking up in a fleet fight.

I'll admit I know nothing about dictors, since I fly a Pilgrim most of the time in PvP, but I heard the sphere only takes 2-3km of travel to escape. If you drop it and run, how much of an effect are you having with the proliferation of speed setups? It seems a target webbed enough to make them virtually "stuck" in a sphere is probably doomed already, and the sphere is superfluous.
I know a dictor is a powerful thing to have in the beginning of a fight, but if I jumped into the middle of the fray I don't know if I'd be making more of a contribution than if I had brought my Harbinger or Pilgrim.
EDIT:
Quote: Rockets work but bonus is to EM missiles...
That's the bonus from the current item database entry. The Khanid Mk2 dev blog does not mention a specific damage type (see my paste a few posts up). Have you heard something more in the interim? -----------

Been out of game for a family issue but I am pretty sure EM missiles bonus will stay. If they dont, then the ship will be more useless than it already is and everyone will just fly Sabres.
Rockets on a fragile ship is a quick way to your pod, as you are too close to web range and especially since you will be called primary by any competent FC.
Also, Dictors are not really tacklers, thats why you have a bubble. Chasing fast ships in a dictor is silly, let the ceptors do that.
And solo, the ship is pretty useless as a tackler as any Sabre pilot or Crusader will shred u in seconds if you use Rockets. Thats where the Tracking Disruptor comes into play, to keep you alive and use speed to run like hell if you bite off more than you can chew.
Try it and find out on the test server. Heretic does not possess much in way of firepower anyway and the bonus is EM Missiles atm so why not use them?
Just my .02. Go out and try it and see for yourself. At least these ships are fairly cheap in empire.

An interdictor sphere is 20 km in diameter so it will cost you 10 km flight time to get out, and that is a lot for a bs that is just been called primary. Also if there are several bs in there which are unable to warp away fast, a group of stealth bommers can launch bombs. I don't know if this works because the first bomb will kill the disruptor probe, but it might with the correct timing.
sigh, If only local would be removed, how fun eve would be

Here is my fitting for the Heretic. This setup has two purposes only: deploying bubbles and surviving. This is not a solo setup, others handle the tackling and dmg dealing. You can choose whether to use named versions or not. For solo i use the Sabre as everyone else.
Highs: Sphere launcher Meds: 1MN MWD I, 1xmedium shield extender I Lows: 1xDCU II, 1xEANM I, 1x400mm plate
You'll need decent support skills to fit it, it leaves me with 0.85 PG.
