So I kept hearing about Eve Uni, but with my playtimes I've really not had a chance to dig you folks up.
According to the requirements on your message board, I think I'm a bit too old to be a student, and not nearly enough to be an instructor, would there be a spot for someone who's kinda in between?
Just about 3million SP, and just foolishly started up a second account to mine/haul with while the main runs missions/rat's/etc. Looking to get into lower security space soon, and kinda feel like I'm not sure what I'm getting into.
Problem also exists in that I've a full time student, with a night job, who really get's to play maybe 1 night a week. Don't want to be a burden to the corp I'm in, which is the main reason why I'm still in an npc corp at this time.

in the past, the process of recruitment was comprised of three separate and distinct stages: 1-application, 2-written questionaire and 3-inteview/offer. in order to make the process work more efficient for both our recruitment officers and our applicants, stages 2 and 3 will now be condensed into a single interview and offer.
all applicants will receive an evemail within 24 hours of applying, stating the minimal qualifications we ask of the candidate. it also lists the recruitment officers that may be called on for the interview. the "convo" may be initiated by either party but we encourage the applicant to take the initiative. the recruitment officer(s) will be prepared to make an offer at the end of the session. instructor or staff positions may take longer to process.
applicants, please be mindful of our qualifications and ensure you meet them prior to requesting the interview. it's a small thing to ask and so very helpful. if you have any questions about your particular situation (inactive account, friends in the uni, a nefarious past, etc...), please drop by our public chat channel [EVE UNIVERSITY] and ask for someone to assist you. you are always welcome there.
this streamlining of our recruitment process should make best use of our resources going forward, while delivering a speedier and more personable experience to the student candidate. 2 carebear thumbs waay up! :P

I've got one little question though...i never finished the tutorial as while i was completing some of the tutorial missions my home system (Chaven) became ureachable for some reason. Since then i've been mining on my own, using my ISK to buy skills and generally keeping a very low profile.
BTW this *really* should be sticky...

it's pretty easy to join. just use this handy EVE University Office List and locate the nearest one to you. then drop by and apply. also, click your "channels and mailing lists" button on your neocom console and join the EVE UNIVERSITY public chat. there you can find out more about eve or the uni.

Myself and 2 friends are currently new to the EVE universe and looking for a training ground.
This seems to be the place.
I am not completly sure what your requirements are but i will join the EVE uni channel tonight and find out some more.
2 Questions:
-Is the Australian faction well represented in your numbers?
-Do you have any particular factional alliances other than anti-pirate?

eve uni is proud to have among its members several who made their former homes in austrailia. now most of them live in/near korsiki in the forge. crikey! :)
eve uni has and will continue to maintain a neutral position in political matters. two months ago, we formed an alliance to make the cost of declaring war on us financially unattractive to "griefer corps". so, in fact, there is no "pull" from other alliance constituents. our only allegiance is to our corporate goal - to share what we have learned with new players and help them find their way in the eve universe, while having as much fun as humanly possible!

as with anyone who is interested, i recommend these steps to learn more about us and inquire as to positions presently available:
1. join the eve in-game chat channel by clicking: the neocom console, "channels & mailing lists" button, then the "channels" tab, then click the "create/join" button and enter EVE UNIVERSITY. a new chat tab labeled as such will now appear.
2. introduce yourself and if you have questions, you've just found one of the best places in the game to get them answered.
3. drop by our out-of-game forum at http://eve.xonectic.com/forum/index.php and if you like, post a note in the public area.
4. in eve, we cannot send "invitations" to join the university as is the case in other mmorpg's. to join, you just apply. here's a list of offices, just park in one and find our listing under "station service" - "offices" tab.

Hi All,
I applied to Eve U. and got an email back with inx on how to proceed. There was one tricky bit that I couldn't figure out how to do: Add Eve U. to my buddy list. I found it and clicked on "Show Info" but I could not access any "actions" on the Show Info tab.
How do I add Eve U. to my buddy list? I was able to add the three recruiting officers to my buddy list but not the Corp itself.

well, short of a timely war... <grins> there are a few ways one can pick up experience in pvp at the U. first, we hold regular "fight club" and other tournaments in which you really fight pvp against an opponent. the winner receives valuable prizes and the kudos due.
a secondary means of gaining pvp experience would be as a part of a security deployment responding to a hostile act against one of our members. this happens from time to time and often results in minor skirmishes.
finally, there's always 0.0 space where the RoE gets a little more severe and invariably there are engagements - it's simply a fact of 0.0 life. in the near future we will again be able to offer that aspect of eve to our more advanced or adventurous students.

I hope the war gets resolved soon. I've been reading up on EVE-U and it sounds like the right blend of non-committal activity w/ scheduled events for my taste. Plus I like the idea of helping others out, and personally could care less about inter-alliance politics (at least for now).
Hope you all don't mind if I pop in from time to time on the Eve-U channel.
