The fact that people can say "yeah, signature boost of AF makes sense.. but they already suck" then immediately start talking about interceptors tells you something. Interceptor damage is the primary reason why they are being used for frigate combat more than Assault Frigs. I really have no problem with Interceptors being able to kill things, but all it takes is five to reach "gank" damage, and when you think about it that is pretty sad. No other ship in the game gets a flat 50% damage bonus before any tech 2 skills.

Coming from the fastest ships in the game, where microwarpdrive is almost standard issue, you can easily say thats fubar. People like Maya don't really have a point, they argue over definitions and semantics trying to peddle theirs as the correct version of what "interceptor" means. I personally don't think swatting other frigs out of the sky is the definition of intercepting, because those frigs aren't exactly running away. Intercepting is doing just that, catching people on the run.

Anyways, with that said, I'd remove their damage bonus and replace it with a 10% less mwd signature penalty per interceptor level bonus. With the drop in damage output and the increased survivability against cruisers, it gives AF and destroyers a real purpose in EVE.
