Hopefully this wont come over as a whine ;-) but I cant take no more. IĈve finally come to the conclusion that I suck so bad at pvp its embarrassing and IĈm posting this on my alt, my character is 6 months old and was built purely for pvp I havenĈt in that time killed any one , ;-( but my losses are extreme to say the least
Join the NBSI Acadamy today, and learn how its done. And trust me, those losses are nothing compared to what I've heard other people lost in the process of growing a PvP bwain
EVE Mail Serend for details, or have a look at the recruitment thread in the Recruitment forum.

The most important rule of pvp is never fight in a ship you cannot afford to lose. Many times a small fast frigate fleet is superior to a large slow battleship fleet, in the hands of a superior commander.
Second most important rule of pvp is to know your enemy and know yourself. Assesing your enemies skills, knowing the ships he's in, knowing his numbers, and most importantly, knowing what tactics he is going to use.
Third most important rule of pvp is never fight a fair fight, fight a fight that you have already won. Battles are won or lost before the first shot is ever fired. You are not there to win some abstract honor, you are there to kill or subdue your enemy, and come off victorious.
Fourth most important rule of pvp is to prevent your opponent from "seeing" you clearly, fighting on the sunny side of the hill so to speak. This means using Electronic Warfare to effectively blind your opponents sensors.
Fifth most important rule of pvp is to manage your resources as efficiently as possible. Alot of T1 equipment can do just as well as super loaded T2 ships, at a much lesser cost or risk, and still get the kill. It's all about skill and experience. Make it more expensive for your enemy to fight you than for you to fight your enemy.

My 2 ISK.
If you had fun, you should keep at it. EVE is a pvp based game, but there are other aspects to it that don't require "active" pvp play. I don't look for trouble in EVE, I'm trying to run a business here, but I will defend myself as best I can.
If you want to do pvp only, and you enjoy the fight rather than the win/loss column, go for it. If you want to play EVE and fight, become a miner/industialist - you'll get your share of fights I guarantee.
I admire you for what you're doing, you sound like my kind of pirate to be honest. My last "fight" was my Iteron against two Ravens and a Megathron. Those were not my kind of pirates. So I guess I'm doing about as well as you!
If you're not having fun, you need to do something that is.

Well I dont have that much PVP experience myself but I do know that you only fly what you plan to lose.
Slasher - 50k Fittings - 100k Clone - 50k =========== Total - 200k
If you have say, a couple hundred mil, and you are trying to be good at PVP, buy a bunch of cheap frigates, join a good corp, and get on all the fleet ops.

Someone should have taught this poster how to use the lock command.
It would have made all the difference.

I had my first PvP experience last night. Joined a new corp a few days ago, and we were having a mining op in a 0.1 system. Things were going great till a fast little inty showed up. I immediately warped to our 'base' station when he came into the belt, but a couple of the other miners werent so quick. The protection stuck around to try and kill him and I got tired of waiting in the station in my retreiver. SO i bought a cheap little frigate and fitted what I could, and warped out to the belt to see if i could ping a few shots at the guy. Well when I get there I see that a couple friendlys showed up which was cool and all. But me in my total noobness, when trying to select the pirate in the interceptor, accidentally ended up targeting one of the friendlys. Before I realised it I had hit him with some ECM, and then his drones came and smased me to pieces in short time, so I warped back to station, apologised profusely for being such a noob, and got back in my retreiver and waited for the situation to end.
I am just going to stick to mining, I am good at that.

Well yes, that does make a difference. Setups for ratting ships usually don't work against a PvP ship/
And you rat in syndicate? Scary. If you want to learn PvP, join a PvP corp, such as a pirate or anti-pirate corp. You'll definately learn there. |

This i would gladly print out on paper, eat and then flush down the toilet later. Utterly useless. But then again i can't be arsed to connect the printer. ---- The _Ultimate_ thread <<- HAHA i removed the link

I'm sure this won't work but here goes...
Come to rens. We'll meet up, group, go at it, and I'm pretty sure you'll win!! I'm the carebear's carebear!
All in all, I give you thumbs up for trying. It's far more than what others are willing to do.

My 1st recommendation is join an alliance/corp fly cheap ships and hang with the people that go pvp for fun not to defend their region so they can npc. If you hang around with the best pvprs you know eventually much like school it'll seem like you didnt learn much, but you'll come away with a wealth of knowledge and you'll be yelling at your gangmates for doing noobish stuff in no time.
My 2nd recommendation is fly in gangs and fly cheap ships and have lots of them fit and ready to rock and roll. Then when you actually have gang mates online your not picking up mods and crap for your new ship. Get all your backup ships squared away while none of your buds are around then when they are around if you get ganked you'll be right back and the op will pick right up where it left off.
