From the title, this post appears to be Veto shaking it's wang, however this is not true. This post is designed as a good hearted warning to anyone travelling within low security Minmatar Sovereign space.
Several months ago, Veto was in Empire attacking several targets when we were war declared by Atomic Battle Penguins, fair game. At the same time they were involved in a war with "Black Hole Inc." who are now part of Dominion Empire.
We were contacted by Black Hole in an effort to work together, and they requested a postive standing, in exchange for assistance in the war, as we only had 12 members at the time. They were told, by me personally, that if we fought in the vacinity of eachother aganist ABP we would assist, however NO full +10 standing would be introduced.
We were informed they would set us to +10 to avoid possible fire on us during engagements.
Several weeks ago (almost 4 months later) several of my guys attacked and killed a Black Hole Inc member. He claimed he had been told that we granted them a +10 standing, and showed blue on his overview. Since then there have been several engagments between Veto and Black Hole Inc. as they seem disgruntled at the fact we apparently broke a "NAP".
Today, something happened that the rest of the community should be warned about. In good spirit, Milo Deadstar, a member of my corp in a cyclone offered Caillera Mondaer of Black Hole Inc flying a Tempest a 1v1, they agreed and formed a gang and headed to an area to fight.
During the fight, Caillera Mondaer left the gang, and called in the assistance of Bieomax in a Megathron. Subsequently the Veto pilot lost his Battlecruiser, to a Gank, in a pre-arranged 1v1, to two Battleships.
Milo was also accused of flying with a Warp Core Stabiliser fitted after defending himself in local, despite the fact his fitting was sold to him by our corporation, who has a harsh anti WCS policy and do not stock them. He attempted to speak to their CEO to explain what happened, and was also met with a barrage of abuse.
I can't speak for the whole of Dominion Empire, as our experience of them all has not been the same and there are some good pilots among them, however I urge anyone who is thinking of being part of any form of agreement with Black Hole Inc, be it a Ransom, a 1v1 or any other, to reconsider.
I won't prolong this post further as the point has been made and this is not intended as a flame, more as a warning to the rest of the community.
Enough has been said, I hope the rest of the corporations operating in the area will heed this warning.
I also ask that Veto members refrain from posting regarding this matter, in this thread or any other, to prevent a possible flame war.

Ahh, there's a special place in hell reserved for scammers and those not honouring 1v1 agreements, ransoms, etc. 
Also, kudos to your guy, seemingly wanting to 1 on 1 against a Tempest in a Cyclone.

Between smack, not honoring agreements and claiming low security systems DOOM has no excuse for existance to be honest.
Piracy is cool by me, carebearing is just as fine. However DOOM should make a stance. Are they a pirate alliance or are they a regular alliance. NBSI policy in low sec is piracy and yet they NAPed every local corporation including the antipirate corp Musketeers (ironicly members of which gave me a speach on how pirates have no honor in EvE or in RL  , and then sold themselves out).
I am just trying to raise my security status at the present time, but it seems like I am left with very little choice. I am camped and hunted not only by DOOM, but by the corps in coalition with them who I peacefully coexisted with for weeks...
All this rant is on account of me trying to say: please people look at who DOOM are and think twice before NAPing them.

Well, it comes down to who needs to be trusted.
Trust = reputation.
Pirates *need* to be trusted because otherwise ransoms would never get paid. So, it's really not that surprising that non-pirates, who don't need to be trusted, use that against pirates.
Basically, the Veto member made the fatal mistake of assuming that others were as trustworthy as himself. It seems that 1v1s should be approached with the same attitude as a "really good" escrow deal. Sadly.

I'd hardly consider "OK I'm in a belt come find me" as an acceptance of formal 1v1 rules of engagement - certainly Caillera didn't intend it as such. Our pilot had had some prior experience fighting with VETO. that had left a sour taste in his mouth - beyond what a friendly gank would - and had asked Bieomax to join him before he'd given that statement.
Caillera also states that he was never in a gang with Milo, he was in a gang with Bieomax the entire time.
The warp core stabiliser accusation came from the fact that VETO. pilot involved had a used warp core stabiliser in his can, and made comments in local that appear to agree that he had it fitted. Of course, proof is impossible on that as it wasn't on the killmail, but his statement can be construed to be as incriminating to having the stabiliser fitted as "OK I'm in a belt" is to agreeing to a 1v1.
And regarding ancient history - to the best of my knowledge, neither BHI nor D00M ever set standings to VETO. after VETO., ahem, "vetoed" the idea of a mutual standings agreement. The pilot you killed a few weeks ago was mistaken on the NAP point.
Finally, denizens of our usual haunts know that if a BHI / D00M pilot actually formally agrees to something, they will stick to it.

Every loser that dishonors 1vs1 later tries to catch their opponent on the words. It doesn't matter what the exact wording was. An honorable person knows that any form of duel is supposed to be without outside support. Lamers try to find a loophole to get in reinforcements.
Posting 2 pages of chat logs doesn't make you look any better. I would say worse.

While I do agree on one hand that the BH member didn't agree to a 1v1 explicitly, at the same time he didn't say "no" to it. In an ambiguous situation like this, the

All semantics aside however, it is a bit lame...however, as far as the recommendation that corps should think twice before joining DOOM, Verone, I can testify as an ex-BH and DOOM member myself that they are trustworthy.

I like how the dominion empire guy doesn't want to 1v1 on the basis of Veto members possibly waiting on other side of gate to gank. Oh the irony.
Anyway, that chatlog just proves the OP's point, and not honoring 1v1's is the most lame thing you can do in this game IMO (besides crap like 3rd party hacks and the like).
And as has been expressed already in this thread: Lol @ you for needing help to kill a cyclone.

I think you are refering to my remark. My opinion is based on personal experiences with DOOM as alliance. They do seem like fine chaps from time to time, but when it comes to open hostilities I have nothing good to say about them.. sorry.
P.S. My point is clear I think, if not very fair. I do judge by association, which means if you decide to be a member of corp or alliance with bad reputation it doesn't matter what kind of person you are to outsiders. And to avoid the flame war I'll stop posting in this thread

I've read the chatlog from local and seen a screenshot of it, and it looked nothing like that.
It's sad that Black Hole have to attempt to bend the truth, and then threaten to contact me in an effort to have a member of my corp removed for packing Warp Core Stablisers when he didn't.
I also read the chatlog from your CEO Warhound, threatening to get into contact with me with regards to the WCS, and frankly I was appauled by his attitude and the level of smacktalk.
To be honest, for myself and my corp, this thread has turned from a warning to other people who may be in the area, into pure disgust and amusement for the lack of self-respect yourselves and [DOOM] have.

I've never flown with or against either of the corps involved in this. But Verone does have a good rep. And the chat log seems to support it. His pilot clearly asks for a 1v1 and states he's only in a cyclone. When the other invites him to come find him that looks to me and I would think any reasonable person of an acceptance of those terms. Makes Black Hole Inc. look pretty lame.

Just to clarify, Caill was sitting in a belt in a tempest with nos and jammer(s), and me and Rock couldn't take him down with our 2 cruisers, but got out. Wasn't arranged in anyway. Then we called in reinforcements. I've looked for the log from local chat to see if we lied or w/e but can't find it.

I've fought Veto a few times and I respect them. Great bunch of guys tbh.
Personally I'd never agree to a 1 vs 1 as these things tend to happen way to often but that is a different story.

First a disclaimer: I have never (and probably never will) agreed to a hostile 1v1 so obviously I have never agreed and broken it. Had to get that out of the way.
Characteristics of the Offense (as per FM 3-0):
Surprise
Concentration
Audacity
Tempo
1v1 fights are good and great, but when it comes to your enemy, people who fight fair fill the first bodybags.
I'm the kind of guy who likes to bring a MOAB to a rock fight. Anyone who does not try to mass overwhelming combat power against their opponents, at every opportunity, is just asking to be beaten. In the fight for your (virtual) life, Honor is no subsitute for victory. |

all you say is true. that said, you take this game too seriously. most people are here to have fun and dont consider it a matter of life and death.
"honor" is means to an end. with it, you can gain trust from others. lacking ability to gain trust, nobody will believe you and thus nobody will want to deal with you.

Just because you don't accept it as a "formal 1v1" doesn't mean it isn't. I mean, your whole post is really funny.
When I call a friend up and ask If can chill at his house, and he tells me "Ok come over, I'm at 420 Bumblefack St" Most people, well most HONEST/SMART people take that as an acceptance, an agreement.
