Seems like there's gazillions of isk in the game now, and there's really a limited number of isk sinks.
Have the devs considered an offical lottery to filter some isk out of the game? Of coruse there will be people that call it a waste of time, but just like real life alot of people will still play, no matter how often they lose.
Prizes would depend on the interest in the lottery of coruse. You would NOT want to be bringing isk into the game through this. If it's REALLY popular you could have expensive tickets with captial ships as prizes, or less interest with just t2 ships, faction ships, or some BPCs.
You could go real hard-core with it and integrate it into the UI with a "lottery" tab (although I doubt ever seeing this), it could be RPed with the empires holding lotterys, or Concord.
Just another thing that everyone could take part in, and would help Isk leave the game.
Also, I remember something about casinos in stations.. is this ever going to come back? ________________________________________________

Meh, I think we need to get away from lotterys all together. Instead, increase sales taxes, broker fees, station takes, clone costs, ship insurance costs, lab fees, office rents, war dec costs, mfg slot fees, etc.

Edited by: Raven Aure on 08/05/2006 21:17:08 The T2 lottery is something of an ISK sink for all of those people who keep losing one. Plus, most of the ISK sinks into people like Jenny Spitfire's pockets.
Edit: If this turns into a T2 price discussion I'm saying it now - I'm sorry. Please put the kitten down Jenny ______________________

Could have an official dev run one where anyone who wants to can put in a minimum of 1 or 10 mil isk to purchase a ticket. And once a month the devs randomly pick a ticket number from a special dedicated database of customers who have a ticket. whoever comes up gets the jackpot.
You can also buy more than one ticket if you want up to 100 tickets per month.

Jenny is currently working on a kitten juggling syndicate - you KNOW what the betting is like on that

The best way to limit ISK added to the game is to remove insurance.
Not only would this vastly decrease EVE's inflation, but it would make people far more willing to use smaller ships in combat, which IMO is more interesting than battleship spamming.

Watch as every trader in existence makes you KoS.
I don't really see EVE has having a *particular* inflation problem right now. But as always, I could well be missing something. ______________________

2 of my accounts are traders. Traders have high skills in trading so would still have the advantage.
And I thought of another 2: 10% purchase tax 3% base value tax on assets held in station per week, per station.

Traders don't care how big the tax is. They up their prices to cover it. ________________________________________________

I think a lottery idea could work. Make the tickets pricy and set a small limit. The prize? How about free Eve time? If you win, your next month is free, or something like that.

why is it in every game someone comes and complains there is too much GP or isk in the game so you got 50 billion isk now you want new players to be penalised so you can sit there with your huge pot being the big man
just let it go and let us make as much as we can and want

Sounds like an SOE tactic to me, something that would break the game and need a fix to fix the fix.
Things seem ok now, why change. If people are that rich, build a titan already.

A Casino service at some stations would be a good ISK sink imo.

How does a lottery NOT help the little guy? if the little guy choose, he can buy a ticket (I'm not talking about 100 mill ticket costs) and he too can become rich just like that.
People may complain a lottery gives players unearned isk, but who cares. There will be so few overall winners it will not upset any balance. ________________________________________________

Lotterys are a tax aimed only at dummies.
The multi-billionares in EVE with most the isk ussually arent dumb.
Wherever you went - here you are.

You want an ISK sink?
Have CONCORD sell its battleships for 50billion ISK or so each. Cruisers for 20bilion ISK. Frigates for 5billion.
Or something like that. Maybe not CONCORD ships, but they could easily think up a few more highlevel ISK sinks.
Having to bribe the 0.0 factions to keep them from just laying waste to your infrastructure comes to mind.
"You want to oerate in Venal? You pay us, the Guristas, X billion isk per week, or we will annhilate every last POS and outpost you've built."

ISK/money sinks generally dont work.
They simply punish the poor, which is kinda the opposite of the desired effect from an ISK sink.
But what if you were charged a banking fee, the more you have in your wallet (bank) the more tax you get charged?
That way, 6 week old noob is not being punished for a mass of wealth he doesnt have.
Of course people whine, its cause your sig sucks

How about a slot machine button in some stations rather than a lottery.
Bit more random and a bit more player involvement. I could quite happily spend hours sticking isk into one :/

Edited by: Noluck Ned on 09/05/2006 07:06:18 If you are looking for fun lotteries in EVE, tune in to EVE-Radio. They have various games and lotteries run daily.
They dont only run lotto's for SK but also often do ship givaways for very reasonable entry fees. (This includes HAC's and BS's)
They also have other types of competitions, such as "Shopping Spree" in which contestants try to be the first to dock in the DJ's station with a list of purchases. There is alays something happening.
Sorry about the shameless plug but I love the community feel I get from tuning in.

That will have a nice impact on my hangar as I am a ship collector... my dread alone would cost me about 46M/week. I can only imagine what the other ships and gear would cost me in total.
Paying 133M for an office per month is enough, adding some 1.5B/month for ship/module housing cost is maybe a bit over the top imo.

Inflation is not as much a concern as many of you would think. If you stay fairly active in this game you will accumulate "real" wealth reasonably quick. If you are inactive your assets will loose quite a bit of worth which is just fine imho. Stop trying to think rl and applying macro economics 101 to this game and be abit more practical about it. ---
