Edited by: Xastas on 09/05/2006 11:01:23 Edited by: Xastas on 09/05/2006 11:00:53 Just for the sake of discussing it I figured I would start a topic about these two powers within Eve.
With GF reaching upwards of 2000+ members they are clearly going to be.......scratch that........they are a force to be reconed with.
BoB are also a force to be reconed with. They have alot of the vets in the game who have been fighting since the "early days". (you old bastards) They have been tried and tested, yet none have been able to overthrow their dominant reign. They have the skills, ISK and logistics to ruin anyones day.
Goonfleet on the otherhand are a bunch of n00bs. (no offence guys/gals) Yet they are earger little nubs. Nothing seems to be able to sway them in the least. They have been war dec'd more than Iraq, all the while living in one of the roughest regions in Eve; Syndicate. No one has EVER been able to tame that wildland known to pirate and merc alike. Yet these busy little nubs with their hordes of members flying anything from T1 friggies to capital ships seem to be doing just that. Syndicate, for the mostpart, belongs to GF. These guys are the real deal.
Given enough time they are going to become the NEW BoB.
You think you hate BoB? Wait till these nubs take over the whole of Eve. We're all doomed.
But lets just discuss for a moment how this might play out if these two were to bump heads.
What are the advantages and disadvantages for each?
Who's advantage is better and in what areas?
Like I said, this is just hypothetical. Some things just need to be asked I suppose. lol
Please keep it neat, clean and most of all, friendly.
Thanks

I personally think that if they put their mind to it. they could do a serious amount of damage to any alliance out there, right NOW.
However, I tend to agree that they are not the alliance killers they could be. But given time, oh say within the next 6-12 months, they will definitly be capable of destroying anything they put their minds to.
That's just my opinion.

I would say that they could have the direction to accomplish territory takeovers, however, with the way the game mechanics are set up I doubt they would have the skillpoints and cap fleet to take and make soverignty over a large established alliance such as BoB. Take a look maybe 6 months or so down the road.

If i understude, Goons are friends from some kind of sociaty/game forum before EVE. Many of them came to EVE and offcourse join same corp/alliance as their friends.
Atm, they work togather and fight togather all the time.
Since EVE provide many different style of playing, i think, over time, Goons ambissions and wishies will devide a bit. They will meet many new ppl and make some new friends who will have influance on some of Goons to try different paths.
So, over time 2000 + might become lot less.
But , if not, i hope server will allow huge fights in incoming future
DEAD or ALIVE we allways have some fun. DO YOU??

Republic University could do serious amounts of damage to any alliance out there but it's not going to happen!
I'm not sure the full story behind what GoonFleet is, but I think they all come from some clan/messageboard/other game. A lot of the 2000+ will get bored of Eve (apparently a lifespan of 7-8 months for your average player) and the number of actives will rapidly decrease to more sensible numbers.
The BoB corps are primarily vets. They have already established they are in it for the long haul.
BoB Vs GoonFleet would be a massacre tbh |

But why?
Just saying it would be a massacre isn't giving weight to either side.
You must have a reason to think such a thing. There has to be some sort of logic behind who you think could possibly win.
Give your arguments, but be friendly as this is only hypothetical.
Thanks

Ah, my daily BoB thread for the downtime.
But about goonfleet: I'm quite sure that they wouldn't have a chance on their own at the moment, because most of them probably still lack the SP. But if they specialize, it shouldn't take long to get on a level where they can compete already by their skillpoints in ships, EW, t2 gunnery etc. and then fear their numbers !

Goonfleet will be able to take over BoB if they`ll got good leadership, i.e. 10 - 20 directors, all good friends with each other, and with expirience of ruling corp \ large group of ppl.
Just imagine... 2k ppl, 500 of them will come to corp mining, in scythe and ospreys. 3 days of mining, and they`ll have lows for titan, or two.
I doubt, that this will happening, tbh. I agree with Darcuese. Its hard to stick people with different style of playing on 1 goal.
I think, that quality > quantity. ASCN think otherwise ----------------------------------------------- Logged in a system, next to you =) |

Yes, maybe but you don't have to go into a fight against a 200 people gang, unless they have the power to kill your poses and take your stations. As long as they have weaknesses due to their SP, I'd try to use that for my advantage and make it difficult for them to own by their numbers.

Impossible to say who would win the battlefield; BoB are used to fight outnumbered, they have their ways of overcoming that with advantages like T2 guns etc.
BUT I dont think GF could take over systems sovreignty from BoB.. having fights and taking systems are completly diffrent things, requiring diffrent levels of skills.
Besides, why would GF go against BoB? whats in it for the indvidual gooners? they wont learn a thing from 200vs100 or whatever they muster.. its just too big, and if anything, will discourage some from continued playing, due to seeing nothing but lag... ---------------------------------------------- All my posts are my own opinions and dont not represent any organization until stated otherwise. |

Because in a war there is more then just who has the most ships. Strategy and tactics comes into every fleet battle, not to mention logistics. Leadership is the most vital part, you would be surprised how much morale plays in even an online game. And leadership only becomes better with experience.
Lets be honest Molle, Blacklight, Dianabolic (when he isnt drunk) :) are the best leaders in the game. And there are at least 10 other fleet commanders in BoB that are just as competent.
I am not saying that GoonFleet wont have all these above attributes in time. But at the moment i am guessing that BoB may be a lot stronger in thsoe areas.
edit: my poor grammar

I had this same thought a month or so ago, and told my corpmates "Goonies must die before they all make it into BS's". It was funny at the time, but that time is quickly approaching.
Granted, they have a long way to catch up in terms of skills, but zerging in cheap insurable ships can be very effective and affordable. It doesn't take much to even up ISK losses when dealing with a T2 fitted opponent.

thats correct. they arent pvp focused like many 0.0 corps and alliances. they are already quite a force econonmically though and thats probably how it will be in the future. flooding the market with zydrine the market they've built in lower syndicate is quite impressive, I cant think of many like it in 0.0
i dont think they will ever go rampaging through the galaxy, but they are very tough to attack because they will blob your fleet.
