An mmo that's a mix between Morrowind (for massive world with tons of stuff) and Ninja gaiden (for awsome combat) and eve (for skills modifying things you can do, and also for it's lack of rules and open endedness). Would probably be best if it were futuristic.

Eve junior would be cool.
Now dont laugh cause I know for sure I am nt the only one playing eve with a midget sitting beside me watching and trying to grasp what the whole game is about. Its just to difficult for young kids.
Now the kidsgames out there look childish and my little girl doesnt like them. To cute and to easy.
A slightly simpler version of eve would be cool to introduce your kids into this type of gaming. Aimed at kids age 6 to 12 i would say. In this game one feature of eve should be kept and that the pvp element. Let them learn young its only a game and let them learn games arent always for winning. Another thing that bothers me abuot kids games. You always win and there is no real danger to them in the game. It teaches them to cry over loosing by the time they get old enough for the real stuff. IMHO
In my family gaming is a social thing and we often play together or watch one of us play and socialise around the computer. Would be tons of fun to be the person on the chair next to my little girl while she plays and actually good game, for a change.

planetscale MMO tied into eve
a player controls a specific type of unit, and the corps/alliances fight on a single instanced server against other corps, mining and industry can be land based also, etc.
so basically you land your ship, hop out, and you and your crew fights (or you carry marines on board)

While that would make a terrific movie, and I would buy two tickets to see (so I can pretend I have a social life), I'm not sure how it would work as a game you crazy goon. Taleroth Scavenging - "Leave no can behind." |

The instant CCP start work on another game EVE will start to slowly die. Happens with all MMORPG developers - as soon as the lead designers attention isn't 100% focussed on the original game it dies.
I am actually genuinely afraid that this has started already with EVE because of EVE-China. We've lost our lead designer and now have TomB instead and the focus is clearly going to be on the new cash-cow in the far East. The next 12 months will be crucial for EVE but I fear it's too late already.

Hmm, well they should defintaly stick with the MMORPG, they are good at it.
Shouldn't be space related, but still fantasy with monsters or something like that.
Probaly do a experience based system to compliment the existing Eve training system.
Have 2 different sides or races so they are always balanced easily.
More working together and less nonnonsential PvP.
Have upgrades like armor and weapons which can be bought, sold, or looted from NPCs.
Have missions where you go into caves and kill giant monsters so you can get stuff.
The area should be huge, like an entire world could be made to explore.
Less emphasis on graphics, it wouldn't matter if it looks cartoony or not.
Have the tutorial where it allows pre-teens to get in the game and feel like they are powerful.
I am really hoping someone makes a game like this, but nobody has touched the Medival Fantasy MMORPG market yet. --------------------------------------------- Make Doomsday weapons available for frigates! |

Yeah, it was meant exactly as it reads - LeKjart has handed over the position of Lead Designer to TomB, presumably to work on EVE China. LeKjart's been a great Lead Designer and has got EVE to a great point. I am not a fan of TomB, I don't like the things he represents in the game and I don't have much hope of him having the same vision and ability to maintain an inclusive game as LeKjart had.
Personalities aside though, the situation remains that CCP's focus is now split between TQ and the new Chinese server, the name of which I've forgotten, and my experience of MMORPGs is that the downhill slope aways starts when the devs attentions are split.

I would have to agree with a MMOFPS.
Its such an un-tapped market.Planetside had a great initial concept but the follow through has been teh suck.
If there is one thing CCP has better than any other games developement company....its the follow through.
Hell just a MMOFPS without CSHD (client side hit detection) would be nice ________________ What you do is you store up the rage, let it fester while you gain strength, then use it to gank those weaker than you... and so the circle of life is complete |

Get this. You start out with a planet. Your conquering of the planet and how you rule it is basically your character creation, though longer. Not saying that you are an emporer. It could be, but it could also look like earth does right now. You as a player would represent a planetary representation commitee. Then the game starts out. Your planet gets to perform services or produce products for other player's planets to buy. There would be useful tools to show what services/products are in high demand and which aren't. Virtually anything you could think of would be possible product or service. Just like in EVE you wouldn't have to be there, you just need to establish your policy. Other players could come along and sell stuff to your populus (if your populus wants it) as long as you allow them to do so. For instance. You might offer a product that others see, they buy it from you. You policy has set up to use another player's fedex system, and this happens when you are offline. But there are major social aspects to the game as well.
Your planet would pass through several levels of civilization depending on wealth and level of technological advancement. The point? To spread like germs. Spread your influence to the limits and beyond. Maybe even eventually wage wars but that would have to be purely consentual.
There would be a CONCORD type civilization that is gazillions of lightyears ahead of everyone else. So massively far advanced we might as well just call the collective civilization God. And God keeps peace throughout the galaxy. As long as you abide by their rules of peace, they will be there to defend you. If you choose to not want their blanket of protection you could request them to not interfere.
As far as the levels of civilizations go, I'd like to see the model where they eventually start getting their fuel source from stars, harvesting stars.
Players could join causes by creating federations, and their advancement would be as one, where you work together to achieve the best effiency.
Kinda like eve, but totally different too.

I played Neocron for about 2 years. It was probably the first real mix MMORPG of First Person Shooter. It was released in Summer 2002. It's player driven and offered a complex faction system at least in the original Neocron, and non-consensual pvp.
Imho they just didn't have enough devs to keep up the good work. Lack of new content, delays, delays and even more delays and wrong balancing decisions and changing game mechanics over all too much without listening much too the vets, who were pointing out what's going wrong, dragged the game down imho. Many active clans, like mine (FAnG - Furious Angels next Generation) have left the game in 2004 already. Think the servers are rather empty now. Anyway I hope they can rescue the game. ___________ 'Only ships can be assembled, this is a Frigate.' |

It's not an MMO, it has many servers run by individual users. IMO, not as good as it had the potential for. I played Starlancer and got FL when it came out after all the hype on Lancers Reactor... Very disappointed since it was supposed to be an open start and open ended game. Unless you completed the storyline, you couldn't advance in levels for better ships etc cos some levels required a storyline mission to advance. Lancers Reactor guys released a mod to allow you to skip the story which you couldn't do otherwise. Microsoft screwed it when they took over Digital Anvil and got rid of FL's lead designer it just went downhill from there.

Seconded.
After reading the short story "Forsaken Ruins", how cool would it be to (for example) play the part of of a Minmatar Commando stalking through a dead space station. An expansion on this would be Courier missions (where you have to transport commandos) with players actually performing these roles.
With the dev blog stating that they'd like to implement sub-system targeting, how cool would it be to blast off an enemies sheilds and propulsion, and then have a gang of mates board the ship to capture it?
You could extend the tech tree downwards, so Minmatar soldiers would use projectiles (Assault rifles, shot guns etc), Ammarians use lasers etc etc
Pirating would be taken to a whole new level with actual boardings.
If planetary stuff is finally squeezed in, you could have a new class of ship: The Dropship. Think Aliens.
I think it would be cool anyway!

Wait for it, wait for it.... wait!
Zombie MMO, hardcore mode only, you go around scavanging as the dead has begun walking the earth, starting with a small area affected and slowly spreading across the globe in player events where you can try to control it or be a menacing presence yourself. Once you die you become the undead which you can then play with limited skills or re-enter as a new live character elsewhere.
Remind me about The Maze.

Any type of SPY MMORPG game. Think about it... its the genre of game that hasn't been turned into a MMO and has the typecasting to be probably the simplest implementation and synergy with the whole quest based genre.
Now I don't want to see a Mission Impossible liscense but a Splinter Cell or Syphon Filter would be great.

Fallout is allready being made by the company that has Oblivion, so that dream has sort of come true (although i wanted a MMO of the Fallout universe..), so that only leaves a PROPER computer game of Vampire the Masquerade..
Preferably multiplayer, but ill settle for a good single player one that doesnt get rushed like Bloodlines did.. :)

A real-physics space mmog. Sure, throw in some way to go long distances (wormholes, warp gates, whatever), but I'd love to see combat with real physics, projectiles that actually travel in space, ships having a max acceleration instead of speed, information only travelling at the speed of light (except for a mail system, which could use the wormhole system), etc.
I'll actually give you my first-born if you do this, ccp.

Standard fantasy MMORPG with a twist! EVE online style single shard with a player driven economy and the familiar skill system we all know and love. The beauty of the eve online skill system is that you can do whatever you want, rouges neednt be frail, warriors neednt be slow, mages neednt be weak. You can be whatever you want to be if you have the time to do it. Less focus of skilling or leveling means much much more focus on industry, pvp, trading and interaction.
A fantasy MMORPG with no grind? sign me the **** up.

A great advance on Eve would be a space empire game where almost all the in game content was researched, designed and manufactured by the player base.
Hence the game would provide you with all the rules and mechanics, all the basic resources, and a hidden tech tree system.
Balance would be the difficult part, and I suspect that the Devs would have to keep adjusting the speed of research, etc, to stop a run away race to the top.

The problem with any starwars based game is that Lucas is now focused on screwing as much money from that dying franchise so he can build a pyramid to bury his bloated ego under.
The royalties demand for starwars games take all the money that could have been used to make that game good.
And the Starwars universe is almost impossible to balance - as everyone wants to be a jedi, and no one wants to be faceless stormtrooper # 145697248 who can't shoot straight.

Well none of us wants for CCP to do another game for that would mean end of EVE. CCP done ecellant job with EVE and this is a topic just to express what game that blown us away would we want to see in MMO. And I have to agree with Vampire Bloodlines. Dark gothic cities, npc humans waiting to be sucked dry, and PvPs among vampire clans each with their own powers. That would be awsome, plus a good npc storyline missions and some knd of market would have to be invented. And you can also implement for vampires to be disco owners, bank directors, appartmant renters etc. for economic side. Mmmmm dreams at its finest. |

Eve for 6 year olds is like ***** dealing in a playground.

I couldn't agree more with this post. Probably the mmo with the biggest potential i have seen. To bad it got stuck at the potential stage. NC was buggy as hell, to little devs, to little communication. but that game had something which i can't describe. Last time i checked it had something like 50 player on all 3 english servers and about 120 on the german one

Well, eventually eve will die. All games die, though eve is one of the best, and many of the mechanics ensure it will be one of the longest lived.
But I don't care what type of game CCP makes. It could even be a western for all I can. What is important to me, is it follows the same basic theroy of eve, player empowerment. A world where the players make thier own rules, enforce them, and have almost tottal freedom.
I don't care what that world looks like, but I'll be there if it ever happens.

Edited by: Zoltaris on 28/05/2006 15:40:50 They should just keep going with EVE until there isn't enough players left to make the game viable, until then, they should keep expending the game in new ways, i sure would love to be able to walk in stations, shoot players there or on planets, use planetary vehicules for exploration, warfare or simply to move around faster, and being able to build structure on planets and moons land, water (or other liquid) and maybe even underwater stuff too (harder to build and maintain but harder to find), that would be really great
CCP should introduce more hidden stuff in the game, things that players have to actively search to find or sometimes find them by being just very lucky
A more developped black market would be a welcome addition too
Being able to target ships specific locations and functions, like engine to slow them down and then be able to board the ship, where you try to sabotage or capture something but have to fight out the spacemarines protecting the ship being boarded, capturing a ship this way would be impossible as the captain is safely protected in his pod, but it would be possible to steal the cargo
Finally, i would like to have some interaction with the ships crew, dividing the ships crew in different sections (medics, navigators, engineers, scientists, etc...) which would then get experience and be more effective once they become veterans or elite, giving some kind of bonus to some skills, there could be officers too, that you could recruit and would have different stats that would affect the ships in ways similar to our skills
There's just so many possibilities! -----

Put in FPS type game for planets.
In order to be able to populate a planet and begin that part you pust have a POS (since POS needs a planet to harvest anyways) Instead of a POS like right now make it a defense POS.
You can dock at the POS and be transported to the planet below. Or have a docking procedure to docking at the planet.
To start a settlement you must use the items you loot in space to populate the planet. live stock/exotic dancers etc etc.
Create some way to make buildings and place then starting with a library for skills. Use the same skill system as the space character but allow to train a space and ground character at the same time.
you can add additional ideas to this sort of thing but this is just an idea of course lol.. there is alot of other stuff I could type but is probably uselss.

How about having an event in eve where a planet is discovered with lots of advanced technology on, then all 4 empires start to fight for the planet,
This is where the new game steps in, a mmo over the whole planet with ground and air combat in the eve universe, you could build bases on the planet for your corp and could raid instalations to steal tech and make bp's to transfer to your eve corp/character.
