My first (non-daily) eve downtime, and I learned my lesson.
I figured with a 12 hour downtime, an 18 hour skill would be more than enough padding.

I ended up falling asleep and missed changing skills. Currently going on 8 hours missed. Gonna be another 8 or so as I think I am going to go to bed soon. 11:30 pm here and the server still isn't up.

I set an 8 day skill to train myself. For everyone that is missing out on training time, this is the general rule I follow for sked down times:
The Rule of Five: For whatever length a specified outage (from here on to be known as "down time") is scheduled, multiply that time by five; The resulting answer is the minimum amount of time you should set a skill to train for.
Using this, 1 hour down times: set at least a 5 hour skill; 12 hour down time: set a 60 hour (2.5 day) skill at minimum.
Goes a long way to making sure your skills don't finish while the server is still unavailable.

Missed it...fell asleep before the servers went down at 2AM local...however work up at 3:15 AM local and my client was still up and running thuogh it could not talk to the servers. Was about to set a 4.5 day skill (Mining V)

As someone who works in IT I'd be a fool to expect upgrades etc to finish on time.

Mine's on two days and my alt is on 6 days.
An optimist is often dissapointed but a pessimist is often pleasantly surprised. 
Plus I've done enough time with SQL server to know it's never plain sailing.

When they say "set long skill training", I do exactly that. 14 days more till Gallente Industrial lvl 5. I have learned my lesson in past when game was up and down all weekend.

Yes, i set my skill not even thinking of the original downtime, which kind of sucks..... Meaning ive now lost 13 hours of train time lol.

I figured Logic IV's "overhead time" would be enough, but we'll see... it completes in 4 hours 15 minutes  Should've put on Spatial V instead by the looks of it

My skill finished yesterday morning at 9am lol But I was at work and couldn't log in to set a new one.....
Rofl o well **** happens  Yeah cos like a few 100k sp will make any difference

I work during the downtime hours, when I saw 'extended' I figured it wouldn't matter much as I work till 5h after normal downtime, and didn't read the msg.
Not a nice surprise when I saw that it was a LONG downtime, and even less nice when I saw it became even longer!
Lost a lot of hours in skilltraining unfortenatly, stuff happens I guess ...
