Edited by: Reacz on 15/05/2006 11:02:12 I agree with all except the FPS part, to me that is unimportant, if I want FPS I'll go play one.
Alot of your suggestions are in another albeit not as good space sim - Freelancer (an excellent, but poorly updated and supported game).
I agree with the interactable planets part. However I think many systems need more depth for instance a whole system which is a in or is a nebula, with electronic storms which interfere with sensors etc.
Also systems which are full of asteroids, which are really good to mine in, but can hide enemies easily.
I also like the idea of having more freedom, you're right atm you're kinda on the 'rails' so to speak, the only time you get any real freedom is when you go on a deadspace mission, I to think you should be able to set your course for nowhere and just 'go' (one of the things I loved about Freelancer). And yes I know you can just double click and go, but it still seems...very controlled if you get my meaning. :s

The best thing I'm looking forward to is planetary flight. That's gonna be really awesome! Then ofcourse come the planetary aerial combat. That's gonna give rise to some new combat strats, since you only got 2.5D to work in. Orbital bombardment, Planetary defences. Planetside mining outposts and POS's. Planet tax! Terraforming. Settlers. ///End

Originally by: Ast3r0iD I'd like to see a system gate open up that gets you to a "parallel" universe thats avtually the chinese server. Then we all go over there ans wtfpwn them all.
Brilliant idea tbh!! I can just imagine a system with an anomaly that gets more and more unstable over a period of weeks, with odd clues somehtng big is about to happen. Like the odd ship getting warped to the other server, and bits of text from one servers local chat leaking to the other side....
Then one day a massive portal opens, and after all that practice against macro miners on our server, we can go forth and cleanse the galaxy and all galaxies of the problem forever!!
(PS This post is made in fun and in no way should be seen as stereotyping our eastern bro's!)

In two years we'll be aching to finally start faction warfare since it just got patched in as part of the "Whoopie" expansion
Nah, j/k, it'll be grand, great, big and probably something else with a b.
I feel another break coming up, too abd my last one was only 3 weeks ago :/

Crache,
I few more remarks:
1) For the traders among us, it would be nice if we could get more market related info inside a station, example: Daily Traded Value: 3,000,400,000 Isk <-- a number totally controlled by players trading... Daily Total Ships sold: 3203 ... basically per product Category type, totals sold, just a summary. Factory summary information: Total ships made today: 23,000 etc... The data is there, CCP just chooses to keep it for themself ;)
2) How about a new health-bar for ships called : "Crew" 3) My personal favourite: Lets add a new Tab to the character sheet called "Resurection Record" it would record and keep the time and place you got podded, and the podder's Char name. :) actually that one could cause a database overload lol.

As much as I like to see all those changes mentioned, in 2 years, it is just too short for eve. I mean eve has been out for 3 years, and it hasn't really changed that drastically, sure there are some game mechanic, ui changes, new items, but nothing really that different from when the game was first released. So my prediction of eve in 2 years is it is still going to be relatively similar to what's going on now.

yeah, i dont see whats wrong with attracting people that like avatars, its where most of the MMO community but there money in.
Not saying CCP should include avatar content, i think its obvious that such a development for eve would require a noteable increase in developers (they would need more substribtions). If however they did go down this road, eve would tap into a larger group of players, this is certain. Perhaps this would destroy there dream of one server to serve all, who knows what'll happen. There are some really amazing technological achievements comming out of the labs atm.

I didnt say WoWers are bad people. I just say they will find EvE different and when you have mass community who wants something, EvE Devs will have to adapt. Same like if I make a corp called Carebears Inc. that has 200 members and if everytime one of us gets killed. We will all do petitions to cry grief or close accounts. Same idea. ---------------- RecruitMe@NOINT! Corporate Consultation Services

Lisa, those wouldn't be too bad, EVE is so information-based that more information is always good :) or so it seems. If market data like that were included, it could be interesting, but also might **** on some parades if people who do constant trade making money on items that aren't commonly traded/manufactured, that market might get saturated too quickly. Would have to see it in action for a while to tell.
Anthropy, actually the main reason I wrote so much is because I've been very busy and haven't had much time to mess with EVE, so I've replaced a little bit of that with thinking. That's also probably why there were some errors about EVE in my post, I simply haven't played that much.
I do apologize for the massive post, but I type pretty fast and it's easy to get carried away with words when you can strike a balance between the speed of stream of consciousness and text input. :)

I give you... The Drawingboard!
Many clues to what's coming can be found there, especially the part about Planetary Interaction. Honestly, I'm quite surprised more people don't know about that page
I saw some post on opening up a 'bridge' to Serenity; I believe some dev stated that will nevah-evah happen. It just won't work with the different laws and stuff that regulates Chinese MMOs. Maybe in 10-15 years when/if Chinese laws are not as strict.

ok, I admit I did not read the *whole* original post, I got about half way through it before my eyes glazed over... but I think I read enough to get the general gist of what the author was wanting.
I personally do not care at all that the only time I have ever seen my avatar is on my character sheet, honestly, he is a pretty ugly guy, and I am okay with not having to look at him more.
I think that Eve is unique in the MMORPG market in that it is not as avatar-centric as the rest of them, and I think that throws a lot of people for a loop, it is not something they are used to. Who cares if you can't walk into a bar, once you have walked amongst the stars. To me it kind of pales in comparison.
I would like to see planets developed more, but not really as another arena to play in, but as another resource for us to tap into.

In 2 years time...
2 or 3 big alliances will consume all the players that want to pvp and will spend all day and all night outblobbing each other. BoB will have disbanded and formed a new alliance called RoBeRt. Any threads mentioning Robert will have been instaspammed by 700 players all suggesting they suck.
GoonPlanet representatives will be asking repeatedly, with much support, for the skill that lets you start your own server.
In order to go into a choke point you will need a fleet of 56 dreads and 300 support ships. All chokes will be permanently camped by 17 titans and an interdictor.
3 characters will own all the tech 5 ship bpo's in the game and people will whine about the prices continually.
There will be 150,000 players in Jita all undercutting each other until it becomes more profitable to give people money for taking items off you on the market.
There will be a few asteroids (mostly trit) left, but only in deep 0.0. Macro miners will have discovered a way to warp to their pos's and outposts and remotely set off superweapons from the titans they mine in whenever anyone jumps through a gate or a cyno field activates in the system.
You will be able to walk around on a planet and do /dance emotes. For the 5th birthday celebration event that ShinRa closely wins, a special dance emote called the Moonwalk will be released. Shin Ra will then be able to walk (and /dance) on moons.
85000 players will be complaining about the lag in Hageken.
Several player portraits will still be exclamation marks on the forum. People will moan continually about this.
Dark Shikari will have discovered a way to reply to a post 15 minutes before the original poster has thought about writing it.

Edited by: Fellhand on 16/05/2006 12:28:54 In two years:
CCP still won't have caught up on the stuff they promised.
Combat jocks will still believe they have a right to have the game run their way.
Carebears and combat jocks will still believe they should be boosted because the other side has things in their favour.
Every race and style of play will still believe they are underpowered compared to the others.
The alliances will have effectively shut down independant access to 0.0 systems with valuable mins.
CCP will still start work on the next expansion before introducing everything promised for the last one.
