Look at the ratings. If I'm seeing things correctly, EVE just got bumped back into its #1 spot.

Meh that site is full of anti Eve Online flame wars and spam. I mean just look at the eve forum. Almost every thread is ZOMG Eve suxorz pvpers are teh griefers!

guild wars is an excellent game
maybe eve shouldn't be considered an mmog as whenever you dock you are in your own little hanger away from anyone else
I dont care either way both games are excellent.

How effective is this ranking system? WoW with a 6 million user base only has 6000 votes. Is that a true representation of who loves it and who doesn't? Or maybe its just a better reflection of the community and how it communicates. A post to vote for WoW on the WoW forums would be locked or lost in the sea of posts within seconds. Things here seem more stable, and perhaps for the other games there as well. At least I'd think so, since Auto Assault is a terrible travesty of a game and I can't see it even being listed for any other reason (but with 500 votes, quite possible most of them tampered with to help with a wavering game).
Most REAL censuses follow strict guidelines and tap a legitimate percentage of a given population.
Well what I'm trying to say is, who really cares about the rankings on that site?

Yeah, eve fanbois appearantly "fixed" the problem with it dropping...
Unfortunantly, this also means that the rating doesnt mean anything. Any game could be made nr 1 on that list.

I really dont see the relation to Diablo at all. Diablo is a PvE game where equipment means everything and PvP is just a gimmick. GW is a PvP game where equipment means NOTHING (rare loot only looks better but does not have better stats than what generic PvP characters get). And PvE is only a gimmick in GW, and lasts maybe 2 weeks. The people who 'grind' in Guild Wars are the ones who just want fancy looking armor, it does not give them any sort of advantage other than looks.

If it is ther esult of non-users of mmorpg showing up and handing out full 10's then it'll be down again in two weeks and the user accounts banned on persistence.
10's and 1'1 get edited out of that rating system, as do ratings doen by people that never log on.

I reject the notion that EVE's rating is purely down to it's fanatical fanbase. Are you seriously telling me that 2.4% of WoW players aren't as fanatical in their support as 100% of the EVE playerbase? I don't buy it. It plays a part, sure, but EVE is there because it deserves to be.

This is a very valid point, as a long time member over at mmorpg.com I can tell you that eve is reaching the status of "weird cult" over there and is loosing credibility with each "preaching of the EVE gospel".

I know about that, when I was playing UO there were the same campaigns on those forums too. I'd be suprised if the WoW/EQ/whatever forums didn't have threads asking people to vote for their respective game.
The small point I was trying to make was that even if everyone that played EVE voted for it, it would still only take 2.4% of the total WoW players to even it out. (assuming 120k/5mil subscribers).

While I hate to defend The Wizz, the fact that other games are doing this dosen't change the fact that calling upon the eve communtiy to completely hammer MMORPGs ranking system is defeating the intention of that ranking system.

Holy clueless batman! GW has hands down the BEST pvp and least pve to get there of any farking game out and that includes the lame gatecamping festival you call eve, where you gang *****everyone and anyone you can and warp out the moment things look scarey.
EvE pvp = x and o's compared to the chess pvp of GW. Don;t get me wrong I also prefer EVE to GW ( just couldnt get absorbed inmto GW ) but make no mistake the level of competition and play of the pvp in GW is mountains above anything else period that includes eve's rather stagnant, tactless, blobbing chicken crap pvp. 95% of eve pvp is ganking with over kill numbers at gates, 95% of GW pvp is head on pvp where you cannot hide behind numbers and a gate, or 200km distance with a SS for safety. Sure there is no risk in GW, which is the only thing eve's pvp has over it, but it is that exact reason the risk which has pussified 99% of eve's pvp.

Sounds like a pretty good system, now if they could only keep track on how long you have played the game as well 
Oh and removing 1's and 10's must be one of the best moves yet rating wise.
