Its much easier to critique than compliment, especially on the internet. No one doubts you love eve and working for ccp. What people appear to be doubting is the wait we are going to have to endure till september for patches (even bug fixing ones) + content decisions so Oveur is the proverbial punch bag for this one :)

KALI!!!!
Sounding better than I could have imagined. Now Gothie will share thoughts on stuff.
Originally by: Oveur The first thing which came up was the fact that we released information to the press first at E3. I can understand some getting frustrated by this move, but just to clarify: this was our first real E3 presence in years and releasing new information is kinda what the whole thing is all about.
S'ok anyone who knows anything about the industry will know thats so, so good stuff there. I'm not one of the "omg ccp is keeping stuff from me, i quit and no you cant have my stuff croud".

Originally by: Oveur Our final graphics engine upgrades and a similar feature set to Kali One. To clarify a bit, EVE "Classic" is a DirectX 9 engine, which is getting an upgrade. We then have the EVE Vista DirectX 10 engine, which is being created from the EVE Classic engine, but with a focus on utilizing the new features and optimizations in Windows Vista. Both will continue to live, both will have the same content. You don't have to use EVE Vista unless you want to. Note, also, that EVE Classic graphics engine upgrades might be released earlier than Kali Three.
Thank you for clarifing this, because there are certain idiots on this forum who think that the screenshots released where the Vista engine and not the upgrades to Trinity 1.

I got one very big question on it regarding the cost. Will it use the Teamspeak server/client analogy where we ONLY have to pay for hosting a channel, say the "XXX Alliance General Chat" or does EVERYONE who wants to use it HAVE to pay for it, and if so, HOW MUCH money we talking about here? Dont sit back on this one cos its ****ing alot of people off...

To be perfectly honest, you havn't answered any of the points raised in this thread. - Optional voice comms for $ = Useless for PvP where you need 100% on voice comms - Promised features of RMR gone out the window - Many 'features' such as carriers are only useful when using exploits on them, and are useless at their supposed rolls. - Many minor bugs that are apparantly already fixed in the development server will have to wait till SEPTEMBER to be ported to TQ. - Some ships, modules and attributes are still 100% useless after years (logistics cruisers ftw) - Some things are stupidly unbalanced and still go unadressed (3 BSs killing 10/10 complex 3 times a day with locals pretty much unable to stop them earning 10bn + a week)
Eve seems to be moving towards other "****" MMORPGs: the "dungeon authoring system"? ie what makes complexs and agent missions? This is just instancing by another name. When was the last time anyone got killed while inside an agent mission dungeon.
CCP need to get together and work out how they have suddenly alienated a LOT of their biggest fans, and address the issues NOW before we start figuring out our exit strategies. None of us have issues with CCP making more money, but we expect at the very least more regular updates, more devblog frequency, realistic timetables, intermittant bug-fix patches etc.
I would trade ALL the new content promised for our existing game with all features working as intended, all ships properly balanced, and all gameplay working like it should.

Maybe some of this would go away if CCP weren't so incredibly pro-Microsoft.
stfu, Microsoft has the largest developer platform in the world. Learn about things my young padawan and then try to post constructivly.

I agree with that for the most part. Agent dead space missions might as well be instanced since there is no way to get most of them with the scan probes being broken in 3D. But I think they did mention better system scanning, which would make it possible to hunt these rich bastards down finally.

Whole lot of words in this thread.
I was afraid that all the random new things like contracts, salvaging, boosters, regions, etc would be spread out, so I'm glad to see that the intent is to pile them all into the first release.

Actually there have been lots of lots of posts during the last week where people have been expressing feelings that ccp are only in this for the money. I should know because i read everything from work. Not until redundancy made his comment did i fully understand how what we write on these forums affect them.
I wonder how it feels to come to work every day and maybe start the day browsing the forums and see what people think about the game they are creating.
Oveur was probably happy when he posted that dev blog and was looking forward to positive reactions now that he finally had lots of information to share. Tomorrow when he comes to work he will see these posts and probably feel the same way Redundancy did.
I dont know, i just feel really bad over this whole thing.

Useful when 90% of lev 4 agent missioning is done in 0.5+.
More NPC Pirate BSs die in 0.5-1.0 than 0.0 by a factor of 10 or so. Its ridiculous.
Complexs are even stupider: once you are past the first level you are invulnerable: CCP have actually programmed it (with the use of gate keys) so that people CANT come in and kill you. Oh and did I mention that they are the most isk/hour in the game? Risk/Reward balance is brilliant.

Mentioning anything is pointless. I complained that even three months after exodus you still had completely unfindable safespots in the game. I went on sisi, I showed Hammerhead the problems and he confirmed that probes were ***. The whole scanning system is based off the flaw that space is 2D when its not.
Isn't it pretty amusing how the probe which is supposed to find anything and everything and requires the most skills to use is also the greatest safespot making tool in the known universe? It was "mentioned" that probing would be shifted to a spherical scanning system, and even "mentioned" in something called the patch notes. Patch was released with absolutely none of the changes "mentioned" and life went on as if everything was working.
How do you double your development team and still have one guy doing all the ship and module balancing, events actually getting worse, and patches more infrequent. How is this possible?

Unfortunately, of the 45 new devs, 44 have "Chan", "Tsang" or "Fok" for their surname, and only 3 speak english.
Don't get me wrong from the highly cynical tone of my last three posts. I love Eve. I love CCP. I am SURE that they will sit up and listen. My only concern is whether it is now, or in 12 months time.

@julia reave
take a step back for a minute into the real world and think for a minute before spouting any more garbage.
EVE china is not a shard in any tradtional terms as u would recognise it in other games. it is being done for political and legal reasons rather than anything to do with gameplay.
i am 100% positive if CCP had the choice they would not have run EVE china as a separate entity but for you to even suggest that they should not attempt to get a foothold in a potentially huge market such as china is ludicrous.
am i disappointed that development on TQ is being delayed because of EVE china. Of course i am.
do i respect CCP's right as a commercial organisation to try and grow. of course i do and you should too.

Heh, thanks Dev guys, very informative. Reading the Blog got me thinking, you guys sure pick up on the negative criticism from the players. Which is a good thing, but you have to keep in mind, most of us think you're doing a great job! Sure, it isn't always perfect, but compared to other developers, you guys come pretty close . Can't say i mind when you keep some of the goodies for E3, i like surprises, especially good ones . All in all, keep reading the feedback, but keep in mind that for every negative post there are at least ten positive ones! (at least i hope so , you guys sure deserve it!)

When do you think the current bugs all over EVE will be fixed?
Today we have game breaking bugs in these areas: Sound System, Jukebox, Carriers, POS, Outposts, Recon Ships, Overview, Font, Faction System, Storyline Arcs, Loot Tables, Map, Corp UI, Skills, Drones, Petition System, Player Guide, Market, UI, ...
That DevBlog is a collection of promises. There are quite some nice ideas. With the implementation history since ColdWar, half of them will be missing when Kali is considered finished, and half of the rest will be bugged to Jita and back.
Vivox' VoIP solution will be implemented in the fubar chat system. Sounds like a great idea. Especially since the EVE soundsystem is the single most source for client performance problems and crashes and thus disabled by most pilots. \o/
Isn't it nice that the people from Transgaming met you at the E3 to tell you they found workarounds for most problems two years after you told us you're in contact with them for ironing those things out quickly? \o/
At least we got some more promises. (It's a long time till september!) --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known. They got Ray |

As much as i lov this community, im finding the cynical and suspicious attitude quite .
EVE-China: Excellent vision that will reward everyone with more ambitious content at a higher frequency. Its deployment is in the critical stages, EU/US players complain they have been sidelined - How increadibly short sighted!!
Planetry environments/Station environments: Its entirely possible to keep improving on the current environment forever (you are your ship and nothing else syndrome) but keeping to this model religiously will not ensure continued success. CCP must move the game along because if they dont someone else will and eve no longer becomes a solid alternative option from elves/fairies/orcs.
and so... The doors open to the largest (by far the largest) group of players that like first person environments. More subscribers, more cash, more ambitious content.
More than anything im happy that CCP have these projects planned, to maintain the growing influence they command. Thats what ill take from this blog, i dont like the wait for kali like everyone else but as a casual gamer, ill live.
whoops, sorry for the rhyme in last para

CCP,
If you want to raise morale again, organize some events again.. Everyone will agree with me, that events like the christmas snowball fights have had a huge positive effect on the overall morale of the playerbase despite the every day performance and bug issues in Eve.
It contained everything i would expect from a successfull event... strangers were having fun together.., ppl were making loadz of screenshots and home made video's, as well as *mad* buy and sell orders *evil grin*... pvp'ers and carebears all one happy family, affecting ALL regions in Eve at once !! a truly rare moment , which I hope we will see many more...
Just some constructive tips...

Its nice to hear so much about the coming features but I dont hear anything about the things that you should concentrate on like the problems with the chat channels or certain ship problems which you can review in the ships & modules section on this forum.

If taking a step into the real world means to realize that money rules above everything, I long have taken that step...btw in a dev blog from April they mention themselves they didn't feel like losing a business opportunity...and they call it a shard themselves, however you name it the fact remains that the Eve universe is no longer unique and some people (like me) pity that for various reasons.
But you're perfectly right, thinking someone holds up his/her ideals when he/she smells the big bucks is ludicrous these days...

You wonder why the players are so ****ed? All I can tell you is from my point of view. Half the new features you mentioned I could care less about. And the stuff I do care about isn't being addressed.
I play eve because it's a space game. I don't want to walk on planets or in stations. If I wanted that I'd be playing WOW. I certainly won't be using your voip chat crap. TS has worked very well and will be more than adequate for the foreseeable future.
You still haven't fixed bugs that have been around since day one and now you are putting EVE China in front of the people who made you successful to begin with. That's a hell of a way to pay back your loyal fan base.
Faction Warefare? Sounds just like battlegrounds to me. Wholely uninspiring. If I want combat against other players it will be in defense of a player built empire not some stupid faction instance.
It seems to me the devs have lost their way and are now hell bent on the ol mighty dollar.
I remember when this game was run by people who actually cared about the state of the game world.
