I quickly jump in my shiny caracal, study the pivate's bio, find out where his corp hq is, find him in that system in one of the belts, f1, 'warning,.. bla, bla,..' f2,f3,f4,.. a dozen white, nice looking ships warps in..pop!..wtf?! 0.5 sec space ... ... Got money left for buying a destroyer.. fitting him with bunch of guns, equipment,.. undock.. pop! What's that yellow timer in upper left corner anyway? WTF?! .. .. Took my a while to get over it..

I created a caldari character (with veery crap attribute...) and i bought a concord, then i decided to use turret, possibly laser, so i bought some small beam turret, wondering why i can't fit them, then i discovered that the caldari prefer missiles over other weapon...
And then i created this Amarr character

Edited by: Seizure Hater on 08/11/2006 03:26:46 I just got attacked by this noob wile I was mining in my brand new Gallente Imicus frigate which replaced my Navitas. The guy was still in the newbie ship, and just came up shortly after I filled up my cargo hold. Apparently he tried his hand at pirating a little too early. I killed him with only 90% damage to my shields. Everyone (except this guy) should know if they did the territorial that even the cheapest frigates are vastly superior to the newbie ship. Well that was someone else's stupid first day experience.
For my first day I didn't do very much. I just did a little mining, and managed to not do anything stupid. I would say some of the dumbest things I did lately was when I went to replace my newbie ship I bought a ship that I didn't have the skills to use. (At least it was cheap.) The other thing was being ignorant of how the skills system worked thinking in order to advance in a skill I already had I had to buy a new skills kit. I found out other wise when I got an error message when I tried to use the kit. Just out of curiosity I right clicked on the skill I tried to increase and found that I didn't need a new kit. I just had to click a option in the menu. Well thats the stupid stuff I did on my first few days.

When I was invited to join a corp in a system about 6 jumps away, I figured I would give it a go. Everytime I got to a new gate that had little red "+" rats flying around, I counted them and wrote down the number on a pad of paper thinking "oh no, this corp guy is gonna kill me"

Nice thread necro...
My first char was over 3 years ago, and I didn't know how to train skills for at least 3 days... just flew around mining in my rookie ship and selling with "quick sell"
I was to lazy to read anythin about how to play or go through any existing tutorial ( there was a very sucky one then too... ) and the first dude that taught me how to play was the ceo of Intergalactic Pira-C or somethin like that. He was a great guy but he was a noob too, dunno how he managed to be in a raven at that point in the game(around 3 months after release) and not understand anything about the game other than the very very basics. He took me out pirating... in a 0.5 system :P suffice it to say, concord had fun. I think he just got confused on the numbers tho :P he said he thought you could pirate in belts of 0.5 and under, which we all know its 0.4

on my first day, after completing the tutorial, i decided it was time to go make some isk.
being a i chose to attack some scordite asteroids because they don't shoot back.
i arrived at the belt, and it was bare! there were several haulers afk mining it.
i soon realized "hmmm, many peoples have come before me,did the tutorial, and mined here."
solution: travel 10 jumps to lowsec! not many people there!
*10 jumps later*
woah, what are those ships in this belt?
hmm. right click->show info
woah! (it was a bantem rat, i thought it was a picture of the actual pirate flying it)
this is a member of the guristas pirates protecting assets. thread level: dangerous.
hmm. i decided i would blow them up and mine lots of scordite next to their wrecks!
*10 seconds later*
shield drops. crap! warp out! warp out!
made it out with 10% structure.
cowered in 0.9 for a few days
met up with some rl friends who played. friend showed off his whopping 5 mining lasers on his thorax. i was very very impressed. then he said that the corp makes money by "ninja mining". it sounded fun. so i went with him on this really really far trip.
you are about to enter a 0.0 security level system.. this is extremely dangerous and concord cannot protect you.
uh oh.
me to best friend> i dont think this is a good idea! friend> no its ok! just be really careful and run if anyone sees you me> well ok
*clicks ok and jumps*
hmmm this place is big! so this is 0.0? ok lets warp to a belt and mine!
my "friend" hugs the gate and just watches, probably laughing.
i warp to 1st belt. waoooaaahhh!!! huge ships! oh crap they are shooting missiles at me and doing LOTS of damage! warp out! warp out!
i somehow survive and warp out, to another belt. i warp out of that one with 2% structure... to the 3rd belt (i am a slow learner sometimes)
pop goes my tristan.
now im in a pod! back then i was still enthusiastic and not a bitter grouch about eve. wow, my pod ship still looks kind of cool. and look they aren't shooting me!
friend> time to go.
he was disappointed in me :(
afterwards my rl friend quit and i wandered around aimlessly for days. i talked a lot in help channel, learning about the game. someone named Veronica SP (founder of Big Blue) started advertising impromptu mining ops and well... it kinda went from there ;)

Bought like 2,500m3 of electronic parts intending to ferry them 12 jumps to make a bit of a profit.
Then realizing that my kestrel could only hold around 230m3 at a time. I still remember that, guh all those trips, it took forever. ________________ Whoops, I jumped.

Logged on, recieved 1m ISK from a random stranger (this was 3 years ago when this was a big deal!), promptly blew 200,000 on a medium laser turret to fit to my shiny new Imicus and discovered you needed skills to use them, proceeded to set skills to train. A few days later, tried to fit said laser to my ship and discovered things like "Power Core" and "CPU" ratings.
Cried a little and started looking for a corporation to join to get some help!

It deserved a bit of a resurrection maybe :P
1) No, a Bantam isn't any sort of combat powerhouse. 2) Don't AFK. In a Hauler. In a Belt. With all the stuff you own on it. Then Sleep. 3) Do 2/10 deadspace with said Bantam. 4) Mined.

got podded twice on my first day...
jumped into Sarum Prime (it was a 0.4 system back then and you did not come out at the gates but at something called Jump In Point), got killed and podded by Lilan Kahn (yeah i remember you ), convoed her to ask if i could have my stuff back. she was like 'yeah, sure' so i got another frig jumped in to pick my stuff up and got podded again....
thinking back now i guess that was what made me stay in eve for some strange reason. i guess i just like the pain

Oh yes, back in 2003...
1. CEI lived in Fountain. 2. Newbie Pierre asks if anyone can build a cruiser for him. 3. The response is positive, pickup location - YZ-LQL. 4. 2 weeks old character flies to Fountain, makes it past a hostile gatecamp, succesfully picks up the cruiser, and flies back to empire safety unscathed, very proud of himself.
5. Once in empire, he fits a cargo scanner, and proceeds to cargo scan the first player he comes across. Boom. --------------------

Today I would say: total waste of time but a typical and normal +noobish naive wannabe wet dream˝ reaction ... even if we had been 20 guys it had been a nice kill the flys session for those t2 fitted noob hunters.

Edited by: Presidente Gallente on 08/11/2006 11:24:38 Another good one after beeing in EVE for weeks: was on my way back to homebase with my Vexor after camping in a DED3 drone full loaded with 14x 600K overseers. I was on a course without filtering low secs. Jumped into a silent 0.4. Thought: hey, I can take down some rats to get some additional ISK bonus. In a belt a few minutes later I was scrambled by KRONOS [yeah ... the day of revenge will come]. I never had PvP experience. Anyway I had no PvP setup. In panic I was doing Kamikaze. No chance. When I was warping out with my pod I got again at panic level: +Oh no, my two days camping loot!!!˝ +Fortunately˝ it was destroyed. So no big win for KRONOS. My corp members were laughing over days about this story.
