Or first couple of days? I remember the first time I ran out of cap when warping somewhere on my first day I didn't realise that the ship would warp again once I have come out of it so I spent 10 mins going back to the original place and trying the warp again. This was before I knew that cap affected how far you could warp doh! Needless to say a corpmate informed me and I am not still trying to warp to that station repeatedly .

Suffice to say, I got podded 2 sec after I entered the system

Glad I came back now, and stuck with the learning curve. Still grates me that I could have trained Caldari BS to 5 in that time (not that my skills would have got me to BS4 by then of course, just musing on what could have been!)

By the time i realized how skills worked i had enough money for a cruiser but no skills to fly one. Gotta say one thing tho, some missions were really hard to do in an ibis.

Darineah Charach	Posted - 2006.05.20 05:56:00 - [76] The third stupidest thing i ever did was: i entered a belt in which an odd looking ship was parked and a heap of cans floating around labelled with things like 'Free stuff' 'All yours' etc. 3 baby rats came in and i waited to see if he was going to attack (thought it was polite cos he was there first) when he didn't i did. Killed two of them then the strange ship killed the third. He convoed me and said sorry and i could keep his can, which i did. He then shot me. I was in a reaper the odd looking ship was a rupture. The second stupidest thing i ever did was: After he popped me, i complained cos he said i could have the can. This of course gave him time to relock...my first pod loss. And the stupidest thing i've ever done was: Waking up in the station, ****ed, i decided i could take him cos i had this new frigate 2 skill, bought a Slasher and went BACK to attack him. It was after losing the second ship that a friend told me what a rupture is.
mazzilliu	Posted - 2006.05.20 06:11:00 - [77] on my first day i went afk travelling all day from caldari to minmatar space to get to my friend so we could play together, took me through some low sec space but i never got ganked :D my first ACTUAL stupid thing i did was trying to go ratting in bosena in an osprey with god knows how many pirates in local(of which two attacked me). my electricity went out halfway through the fight, too. after that moment i decided i liked pvp and wanted to do everything i can to prepare for it after that osprey loss i went straight to a 5/10 empire complex with ANOTHER osprey and promptly lost it, too. OSPREYS ARE NOT COMBAT SHIPS. ---------

So I bought something in Amamake, and flew into a large S******dly gatecamp while picking the item up. Ship gone, pod gone. ;) Luckily I had insurance and cash to replace fitting. Well, at least I got podded by one of the well known corps in the game the first time!

When I got there (by safe route), I managed to screw up my autopilot and accidentally go into 0.0 in an ibis. I think its was Y9G I ended up in, where Skywalker and Ifni used to hang out. Fortunately no one was camping the gate to laugh to death at me and I managed to get out again.

Went to amarr, bought the slaves, stopped by concorde and paid something like 5m fee. I had like 10k isk so my wallet went down to -5m (negative!). Then I returned to my 1.0 system but with my surprise I wasnt able to sell the veldspar to recover from the debt....because I needed some cash to pay the transaction tax! So I petitioned CCP, as I was really f***d up and unable to play anymore unless someone gave me 5m. CCP response was "its not a bug, its a feature of the game, sorry for your accident but we cant do anything". After more than 1 year and 1 billion in my pocket, I still think that was a bug...

I'll whip out the civilian gattling gun and nail the bastards!". I made it to SU in a pod only to be shot as a possible spy :(

After my frigate experiences, I decided to train straight for a Rupture, which I purchased and fitted probably the most crappy setup ever fitted to a Rupture (it did include medium arty though :)), and proceeded to lose it after a couple of days of lvl 2s. I then trained to use a Cyclone. Thought, now I can fly a Cyclone, I can do lvl 3 missions now...... boom. After this, you may have thought I had learned my lesson, but once again greed got in my way, and I took my shiney new Typhoon into a lvl 4 Mission last week. Needless to say, I no longer own a Typhoon :( Luckily a very wealthy corp mate has sorted me out a nice Tempest for me to play with untill I get the skills together to fly lvl 4s on my own at some point (probably the year 3000).

Our scout notifies an incoming fleet with several elite ships. We jump to the station without removing de bubble. 1. i had all the mods active awaiting a target. (as usually when i am camping) 2. gates nor stations showed in the overview (idem as above) when we arrive to the station the incoming fleet jumps to it too. No targeting, no agression, we are neutral, it seems they are going to dock. Just for caution i wanted to check if i was at instadock distance, but then i realice (see point 2) and the little white square pointing the station isnt there to focus on it with the mouse and check the distance. IDEA!!! target the station and check the distance then instead reconfigure overview. You can imagine what happened when i targeted the station (see point 1).... My corpmates laughing in ventrilo (the other fleet doing the same, i think) and me with a retard and surprised expresion in my face so shocked to do anything when my pod was targeted by the other fleet and poped. I logged off when my clone was activated at 16 jumps and went to bed..., A sad night for me

So there I was, 43 ISK in my wallet, mining lasers in my hangar, and feeling like a complete idiot. It should be mentioned that I have a bit more in my wallet, and fewer mining lasers in my hangar. Spotted some shiny omber roids and tryed out the civieminer. After a while I got bored and rightclicked on my ship, wich open up a menu, amongst the options was "eject". Tryed that one and was quite amused finding myself in an "egg" while my "mighty" spacecraft was still chewing on that roid. Oki, this was interesting I thought to myselfe, but I bether get back inside my ship. But to my fear I chouldn't return inside. The message I got was that since my mininglaser was activated I was denied access to the ship, but the miner chould stop in 3 minutes. My heart sank to the floor but I was patient enuff to wait. Tryed again after ruffly 3 min, nope access denied for an additional 6min, waited once more, nope access denided for 9 min. Now I felt realy sad and petitioned my greate loss of that mighty spacecraft... And with true sorrow in my heart, I left the ship, still mining on it's own behind and returned to station, to awaith the petition answer. Strange enuff I got a new ship right after I docked... Never got any answer on that petition tho... Faber quisque fortunae suae... (Each man is the maker of his own fortune)

Level 1 'Worlds Collide' looking for the 'ship' you need to find at the second stage 'Stargate' not understanding the difference between 'Jump/warp' Gates and StarGates . In a Merlin with no afterburner flying around in cirles getting pounded until 'Pop' . Thanks to Yorlbie and White for helping me get through that one and explaining about the 3rd stage. 3. Took a Badger Mk 1, Mod 0 (zero) into low sec, two system to get some Quafe Ultra for an agent offer. Thought about doing it in my faster Condor, too many trips in the Condor you see for the payload... Should have done the Insta's with the Condor but it was only two systems into low sec and back so... on the way back got Ganked by two yarrs in Ferox's. That lesson got me into my new clone which I immediately petitioned as it was obviously not 'my' clone as my clothes did not fit anymore, they were too tight and wear a size 6.

Another thing was that I didn't know that there was a "right clickey" menu. Searching for the station/gate icons ftl. One should always have something sensational to read in the train.

Worse yet I realised I was struggling so invited other new players in local chat to help me haul the ore, then wondered why someone started shouting at me in local. Other mistakes also include buying a shuttle to "fit" with modules, leaving items behind in the station on a courier mission, not setting any training for a while, buying a second skill book thinking it will let me train the next level of the skill even faster. The classic was "informing" a veteran player that he was such a newb for still mining veldspar, when the scordite was so much better (though admittedly he was the one who provoked the argument). Oddly enough I pod killed the same guy about six months into the game (that made me very smug for the rest of the evening).

The guy was still in the newbie ship, and just came up shortly after I filled up my cargo hold. Apparently he tried his hand at pirating a little too early. I killed him with only 90% damage to my shields. Everyone (except this guy) should know if they did the territorial that even the cheapest frigates are vastly superior to the newbie ship. Well that was someone else's stupid first day experience. For my first day I didn't do very much. I just did a little mining, and managed to not do anything stupid. I would say some of the dumbest things I did lately was when I went to replace my newbie ship I bought a ship that I didn't have the skills to use. (At least it was cheap.) The other thing was being ignorant of how the skills system worked thinking in order to advance in a skill I already had I had to buy a new skills kit. I found out other wise when I got an error message when I tried to use the kit. Just out of curiosity I right clicked on the skill I tried to increase and found that I didn't need a new kit. I just had to click a option in the menu. Well thats the stupid stuff I did on my first few days.

He was a great guy but he was a noob too, dunno how he managed to be in a raven at that point in the game(around 3 months after release) and not understand anything about the game other than the very very basics. He took me out pirating... in a 0.5 system :P suffice it to say, concord had fun. I think he just got confused on the numbers tho :P he said he thought you could pirate in belts of 0.5 and under, which we all know its 0.4 -- Nerfed Siggy... (it was a bantem rat, i thought it was a picture of the actual pirate flying it) this is a member of the guristas pirates protecting assets. thread level: dangerous. hmm. i decided i would blow them up and mine lots of scordite next to their wrecks! 10 seconds later shield drops. crap! warp out! warp out! made it out with 10% structure. cowered in 0.9 for a few days met up with some rl friends who played. friend showed off his whopping 5 mining lasers on his thorax. i was very very impressed. then he said that the corp makes money by "ninja mining". it sounded fun. so i went with him on this really really far trip. you are about to enter a 0.0 security level system.. this is extremely dangerous and concord cannot protect you. uh oh. me to best friend> i dont think this is a good idea! friend> no its ok! just be really careful and run if anyone sees you me> well ok clicks ok and jumps hmmm this place is big! so this is 0.0? ok lets warp to a belt and mine! my "friend" hugs the gate and just watches, probably laughing. i warp to 1st belt. waoooaaahhh!!! huge ships! oh crap they are shooting missiles at me and doing LOTS of damage! warp out! warp out! i somehow survive and warp out, to another belt. i warp out of that one with 2% structure... to the 3rd belt (i am a slow learner sometimes) pop goes my tristan. now im in a pod! back then i was still enthusiastic and not a bitter grouch about eve. wow, my pod ship still looks kind of cool. and look they aren't shooting me! friend> time to go. he was disappointed in me :( afterwards my rl friend quit and i wandered around aimlessly for days. i talked a lot in help channel, learning about the game. someone named Veronica SP (founder of Big Blue) started advertising impromptu mining ops and well... it kinda went from there ;)

Newbie Pierre asks if anyone can build a cruiser for him. 3. The response is positive, pickup location - YZ-LQL. 4. 2 weeks old character flies to Fountain, makes it past a hostile gatecamp, succesfully picks up the cruiser, and flies back to empire safety unscathed, very proud of himself. 5. I started 3 days after EvE went live, the manual had a lot of misinformation and the tutorial was useless. I decided I wanted to train electronics up, I saw I had it at level one so I went and bought 4 electronic skill books, one for each remaining level. Took a bit of omber mining (ah the days of Omber in Ammold) to raise the cash for that. In any case, it would not let me train the electronics skill book because I already had it at level 1, and I couldn't understand why. So I spent a week without training any skills before I revisted it and finally figured out how it worked! ----

So i try to sell them on the market... and there were no buy orders in my system. So I go to warp to a gate and go through to another system, when I get popped and fined... and I was fined so much that I ended up negative... So here I am, a complete noob who thinks 200k is a fortune, and I end up 400k in the hole. And when you have a negative balance, you can't sell anything! Something about the tax being taken prior to the sale registering... I had to beg ISK about 500k off people in Renyn just so I could do something. Man, was I ****ed!
