Well, actually I don't hate them, the are a very beneficial module in this game. I just don't see why we don't make an EASY fix and make them use 75 or 100 CPU. PvP BS would have to majorly nerf their setup to use these. Hauler have 1000+ CPU, so no problem there... frigates, well, only real carebears put WCS on frigs. The only problem I see is with the Elite haulers and their lower CPU. (Maybe give them a Bonus?)
No need to change the slot, strength, etc. I don't care if someone is traveling and fits these, but when someone can fight me in a Raven, damp me, and fire massive amounts of damage--yet warp away from my -2 scrambling buddy--yeah, needs a bit of tweaking.

easy fix
use more warp scrambling modules

I'll still have to use the same scrambling--he just won't be able to hit me as hard or tank/damp as much. I mean, a geddon will still be able to fit 7 WCS if they make them use CPU... he just won't be able to fit 8 WCS, Smartbombs and then go home with little risk from frigates...

So in essence, your asking for the big red win button huh?
I'm so tired of seeing these threads that amount to:
"I'm a pirate and am tired of being denied the ability to grief people because they equiped their ships in their benefit. Nerf something please!"
Why don't you adapt, say by having a friend use an interdictor? WCS doesn't work in bubbles.
If hypothetically you wanted to haul something through 0.0 what would you do? Of course you wouldn't use WCS because you hate it right? Bull, you stand to benefit just as much as they do from WCS.
This whole WCS is dishonerable bull is so funny to me. Its some stupid ideal that some pirate came up long ago in order to encourage people stick around so other pirate buddies had time to jump/warp in to gank their prey.
Asking CCP to remove or change WCS is like asking god to change the world so that its easier to murder people and get away with it. Or let me make that more realistic to your wants.

You should probably read Zarthanon's post before hitting the reply button. If we go by your example, Zarth is asking god to make it harder to murder people and get away with it. A pirate can load up 5 WCS in his raven and kill fairly indescriminately and easily avoid justice. Zarth's proposal isn't to nerf the ability to escape, but rather to nerf the ability to kill while set up to escape. No ship should be able to do both.
Most people don't have a problem with WCS being used for travel only, but when you come across multiple WCS battleships in pvp setups, where the WCS penalities are pretty much nonexistent you'll begin to understand the frustration.

Edited by: Effei Gloom on 21/05/2006 11:22:29 I agree, WCS (defensive modul) should have a disadvantage to pvp fittings, why not add a CPU malus to WCS mods like those mining upgrades have it.
Easy to fitt but you loose % of full CPU you can use for weapon and stuff.

The OP wasn't complaining about the haulers... in fact he was telling them to give a bonus to transport ships so they could fit a setup + WCS with their lower cpu than normal haulers. What the op was complaining about was the people flying pvp ships which deal alot of dps, fit wcs and ecm in mids... that is the true I WIN button in eve... no risk... no loss... just gain.

Besides, credible rumours would suggest that WCS are getting another look (ie/adding a pvp timer). The current situation needs fixing, and it can certainly be done without hindering the aspirations of carebears (in fact, could help them even more).

o/ i think the current fitting requirements are fine. if you are a person who fits a wcs on a bs for anything but transporting you are a moron. no matter how much cpu they use, you have to sacrifice a low slot to fit one.

As a lot of you have said, a Raven fitted with weapons, tank and escape is rather "unfair". But take a look at the other races ships. Apoc/Geddon will heavly lose its tank. Gallente the same. Minnies, well they can do the same as a Raven, despite not as well.
So, is it really WCS's that is the problem or is it the Raven in particular?

My corp's at war with a bunch of pirates who use WCSs on HACs. We haven't gotten a kill, because their whole corp spams with WCSs. I use Amarr ships, and I can't do a bloody thing with the things. I need the lows for heatsinks, tracking enhancers, and the tank, so I'm essentially beaten in every combat I participate in.

The suggestion of increasing their CPU requirement looks like a good one to me...are alternatively have them gimp your cap in a similar way to micro warp drives.
(I.e. warp core stabs take 5% off your cap just to fit them, due to the power requirements of setting up the warp core stabalisation field).
Oh, and Ravens do get reduced by fitting a full set of stabs. They can't fit BCUs, etc.

I agree wcs needs a nerfing as now its way overused and negates the risk involved in combat. I would say make it to where only industrial class ships could fit the wcs. Because every ship excluding industrial ships are designed for combat so for someone in combat to be able to fit a wcs. is like having a BS able to fit strip miners. All the mods have thier place but somehow i doubt that it was foreseen that wcs would ever be used like they are almost negating all the risk involved with combat.

No need to make new plans for the WCS. In earlier blogs, CCP has already projected a change in the warpcore system which will partially solve this issue. According to their plans, warp core strength and scrambling will work simirarily to ECM, e.g. you will always have a chance to scramble a ship no matter how many WCSs he fits... on the other hand, you will have some chance to escape even if you have more scramblers scrambling you than the points you have. There was also stuff said about racial and "multispectral" scramblers having a similar relationship as racial vs multispec jammers.

you mean to if i lived in empire i might want to bring a few extra tacklers along ... good advice if only CCP would get off their ass and put a ship ingame ... like...a... uhhhh...frigate but really fast that was awesome for warpscrambling people yeah make it tech 2 doing maye 4000+ms and give it a really small sig radius so it hard to hit . make the requirements fairly small so it's relativly easy to train and inexpensive . you know if i got like 3-4 of those guys running around with str 2 scramblers that might cancel out a WCS .

Then put the better ores where everyone can reach them without having to go into 0.0, you're pvping there not mining. Put good moon materials in empire... allow us to moon mine in empire, make it easier to actualy run a pos in empire...
You want pvpland... go play CS or something.
I'm so tired of people saying this game is about pvp... no its not. There is a whole game out there that has nothing to do with pvp... my corp has played this game for years and we stay out of pvp... we love this game as much if not more so then most players, most of my corp own multiple accounts so we put our share and then some into CCP's pockets... twice what most players pay for.
WCS are great, Warp disprupters are great... dont like it? Go play half life... cant warp away there :)
I always find it humorous when I see people think their idea of what this game is ALL about is all there is and anything else is meaningless
Many times CCP has said the economy of this game is essential.
Without us non pvpers... where would you buy your T2 ships? Where would you buy ANYTHING T2?
You wouldnt... you'd be stuck in T1 ships... pvp is all there is?... bahahahaha... dork! (edit: "clueless" dork) ------------------------------------------------

so, your vision of "balanced gameplay" includes bringing 3-4 more people to hold down one enemy? since only solution you can come up with is fighting with 4 to 1 odds, maybe i shouldnt have rephrased my earlier post

I like WCS, they serve a valuable purpose. The real problem with them is that lots of people are using them, therefore I need 'serious' numbers to stop them escaping. When they do get caught then it's 'a gank'.
Personally I feel that fitting to run away is enough of a handycap. You're tying up a slot, to help you run away. That's by it's nature making it more likely that you _do_ have to run away.
(Exceptions being, of course things that are supposed to run away, scouts, haulers, that kind of thing).
If there's a snipergeddon running 8 stabs, then chances are if you do tackle him he's dead dead dead. -- We are recruiting |

I like the idea of WCS in Highslots. I would even like it on Haulers, WCS and Cargo Expanders together.
Stacking Penalty sounds good too, no ship should have more than max. 4, even with travel fitting.
100 CPU per Stab sounds funny, would be nice too.
Lots of great ideas... now we just all have to sit together and pray that CCP finally wakes up, stops "fixing" things that worked fine before the fix and start focusing on the real issues.

The humanity!!
My idea is quite simple. Every time someone aggresses something while they are wearing stabs, there's a 5% chance this gigantic enormous <male reproductive organ> comes falling out of the sky. Slapping the user in his face, destroying his ship and violating his character. Then this big message should pop up with something like
Quote: IF YOU'RE GOING TO PLAY EVE LIKE A <English term for cigarette> THEN YOU HAVE TO BE WILLING TO TAKE IT UP THE <place where sun generally doesn't shine> ONCE IN A WHILE!!
Yes, that'd work quite nicely.
But seriously, I have no problem with people incorporating stabs in their pvp setups.. as long as they endure pain.
And suffering.
Lots and lots of suffering.

I have to totally agree with this, cpu/cap nerf or stacking penalty. How comes everything I use has stacking penalties or uses loads of cpu? But when scum comes in to gank industrialists in our space, in stabbed up vagas, thats just silly. Speaking of which, nerf the Vagabond too.
