What? It's terrible. Even discounting the dated graphics, it's just bad. There's no point to it, no narrative. It has the feel of one of those god-awful fan-made videos on YouTube that are just collections of clips from their favourite TV show, with none of the original audio, and some terrible music over the top. Anyone unfamiliar with the object of their fandom leaves it after 20 seconds none the wiser.
EVE Never Fades is not a patch on the trailers for Dominion, Tyrranis, and Incursion, or even the much-mocked 'Eve Is Real' video. They were all excellent. |

It's nearly six years old, and a complete spine-tingler none-the-less.
Story wise: it's fine. EVE hasn't got a story, any more than a library has a plot. All EVE has is lasers and economics, and frankly I'd rather watch a music video full of explosions than spreadsheets. |

In my opinion why it is great, and why you should go back to the same "thing":
1. ALL IN-GAME FOOTAGE, seriously - stop being ashamed of the product you're making - be cocky like you used to be back when this trailer was released. You put those words there because you believed in something. Do it again.
2. DARK UNIVERSE, everything about that video reeks of dark universe, a knitty gritty cutthroat survivor's game, that too is a great message. It challenges the player "can you take this?" - and this is what makes EVE appealing. This should be the focus again.
3. VAST SPACE, I remember warp to 15 and the change short after. I remember being a noob and thinking EVE was infinite and the possibilities the same. I remember reading about corporations being corrupt, add more crime and corruption in the game. Allow us even more to be outlaws and make people FEAR 0.0 and low-sec, but give them the greatest reasons to go there - it should be worth the risk.
4. GREAT DARK MUSIC, This is what I think you've been doing well consistently.
5. MATTE, DARK COLORS, No strong color rainbows please.
6. PLAYER CREATED STORY, I think you used to be great at telling stories with background info and stuff. But you've never told the player's stories in your commercials. Empower your players by telling our stories in the trailers. Boast about the scams that ACTUALLY happen. Fiction is nice fluff, but dare to be real as well.

Preaching to the choir, Eve never fades is the most perfect trailer ever. It hints rather than tells; it invites to fly rather than share a narrative. I'ts not about telling the story, it's about the watcher imagine what kind of stories could be built on that base.
And the music is haunting.
So... no affordable NEx store... no full-fledged Incarna... no new casual content... no new solo content... no new PvE content...-á

How the hell can one make a commercial video showing bugs being fixed, an ageing UI being snazzed up and long overdue balancing being done?
Perhaps make it an infomercial kind of thing with some lame ass voice acting for good measure?
