I dont think its so much about Dust coming to PC thats pissing the players off over there so much as its the fact that CCP has flat out promised to deliver massive updates and fixes to the game and instead now chooses to move it to PC and leave them....in the dust ha puns...but either way I can understand their frustration, they have every right to be pissed. I didn't call all you QQs firing on the jita statue a bunch of whining babies or state "Still not caring" The sad fact is the eve community has never truly accepted the dust community and it is precisely BECAUSE its on PS3 and not PC. From our perspective...we are quite accustomed to CCP promising **** and screwing us over, but they aren't. Sooo with that being said, Im glad they are passionate about the situation.
All of you who are expecting legion to be pretty much a planetside version of EVE may be getting your hopes up though. We have seen CCP's trend in developing FPS games...taken Dust into consideration they are 0 for 1. I cant imagine that changing much simply because it is on a PC instead of console. To be honest, I really don't have high expectations for legion. Yeah it looks cool, but I doubt it will ever be what everyone is expecting it to be. Could be wrong, only time will tell. To be honest though I really didnt want a PC version. EVE was unique because it is the only game in this universe that does exist on PC, Dust was unique because it was the only game in this universe that existed on consoles. Now its just going to be two similar games on PC instead :/ kind of diminishes both games' uniqueness and it is or that very uniqueness that I fell in love with eve in the first place.
Legion is nothing more than a grandeous marketing campaign, over it free to play to everyone and if they dont play eve they see it and go ok, its on pc im already on pc so ill try it *cha-ching* ccp made a sale. Whereas if its just dust on ps3, a console player isnt going to go out and spend money for a computer to buy a game to play. I think CCP realized they would never be able to market EVE through a console and it is for that very reason alone they chose to switch to PC.
When you look at the massive sales for micro-trans they ran prior to fanfest for Dust, they really were trying to milk every dollar they could before dropping the bomb, that alone shows that CCP has lost touch with its playerbase and has becomes nothing more than a business hellbent on profit. Which is unusual considering EVE was never created for profit, it was originally designed to prove it could be and exist. CCP is walking a dangerous line here of looking as bad as Blizzard in terms of pure profit making over quality of game play. At least blizz GMs open a chat with you and discuss the issue...ive yet to get a live chat from a CCP GM haha |
