Bagrat Skalski wrote:So why I can play software that was developed 11 year ago on a machine that is one year old? PC is compatible backward and forward, because you have x86-32 and x86-64 architecture, operating systems that use the same processors and can emulate one enother, and you have a set of rules, that people who are making consoles did not care about and PS3 to PS4 transition is a great example of that.
ROFL! Backward compatibility is a function of the software or your OS. Your PC is hardware running on an OS which provides functionality for backward compatibility. There is no forward compatibility. It is called scalability. Scaleability is a function of both hardware and software. LOL !
When I say a PC is scaleable it means that you can add more CPU or RAM or Disk Space or anything else. However its bottleneck is the OS and kernels OS assigns to applications.
Bagrat Skalski wrote: So their hardware is specialized, so much that you can't get scalability, flexibility and backward compatibility. Too bad.
Yeeeeeeuuuuuupppppp. But since its OS only ONE KERNEL it can dedicate all its resources to its Kernel. This makes it superior to a PC when it comes to gaming.
A Linux machine running on 512 MB of RAM is faster than a Windows machine running on 4 GB of RAM.

You enjoy your low res textures and simplified models buddy. I am glad that you did not bring in Cell GFLOPS because no one already cares about it. When weapons, technology, and economies mature faster than the leadership culture entrusted with them, disaster ensues.

Yep! Enjoy your burning trees and sub par gameplay. I'm pretty sure your measure of gun game is playing the Campaign version of shooters in Easy mode.
Its way easier when there is no one to shoot back at ya!

I have been a competetive level gamer since Resistance 2. I have actually taken part in FPs tournaments and won some.
What I have seen from all this and personal experience is that all the good gamers love competetion. They love playing with and against more players in different spaces which include arcade gaming. The crappy ones stick to their clutces like wanting games to be PC only. By you asking for any game to be PC only I know where you stand. Unlike you I strive to be better.
Legion is all yours mate! Have fun shooting them AI drones down. Hopefully they will have an ID 10 T mode for you.

This toon of mine is a 25 million SP Miner/Indy toon. And yep... I agree with you if it tough work using ALT + TAB watching AOT while my machinaw mines and my Orca buddy waits for me to jettison my goods. Takes a lot of teamwork, cooperation and patience to do that!
Always remember even though people say there is no I in a TEAM look closely at the A-Hole and you will find it there.

Well, my whole experience with tournaments was a second place in local unreal tournament deathmach in my school years, then I did made some competitive gaming in Battlefield Play4Free. I can't say I was bad, because I was not. I am just a decent FPS player, that is all, and I will wait for Legion, shooting drones or other players, does not matter, if I am having fun, its worth my money. I have a life you know, and being the best rotflstomping neckbeard in a society of rotflstomping neckbeards is not my priority in life.
Good luck with striving to be better in some other game then. When weapons, technology, and economies mature faster than the leadership culture entrusted with them, disaster ensues.

Corbin Jones wrote:what i think bothered a lot of people was the fact that for the past few months ccp was promoting in game events that encouraged the playerbase to invest heavily into boosters- the equivalent to a subscription.
players spent a lot of real money investing into a game that they thought would stick around. that's what ccp, or at least the old team had told them.
at the same time ccp had told the cpm for dust of what they'd planned and made no attempt to inform the playerbase of what was to come at fanfest. even inviting the playerbase to fanfest, players that only played dust.
yeah, we all know this **** should have been released on pc and we knew it was doing bad. but those dust bunnys had hope, they stuck to the game and they were loyal to the developers.
ccp should have been more transparent. a lot of people feel betrayed and ripped off (even getting charge backs thru sony). that's great that they're going to move forward with dusts future, but the way they did it was the problem.
ps: this isn't me being butthurt or anything. i spent 10$ in three months on dust and that was mostly to use whatever little aurum i had left. the game didnt feel worth it to me, and i'd be happy to hear about the legion news under normal circumstances, but the way they did it made me lose interest.
It is alarming how many EVE players don't understand this. For the record, DUST was garbage and I haven't seriously played it since beta. I have wanted it to shut down for a while now.
However, this has NOTHING TO DO with them shutting it down. It is HOW they did it. CCP basically proved that they don't care about DUST players at all. A company with complete disregard for their customers will have no issue doing the same thing to another product (such as EVE) as soon as they decide it isn't profitable enough/they want to prototype a new toy that will conflict with it. It is just disgusting business practice, and seeing so many EVE players gloat about it kind of makes me feel ashamed to be part of this community for the last 7 years. |

I'm going to slightly disagree. CCP cares, the issue is, i think they either had no idea that this was the reaction they were going to get, or they seriously have no clue what to do with dust. They completely dropped the ball at fan fest. And honestly should of announced legion WAY before, or shown what was coming for dust then taken the last 30 min (key note was suppose to be 90 min) and show legion. shrugs
The eve player son the other hand don;t give a flying **** about dust. And why should they? it never made a difference to them, it did not benefit or hurt them, it was just there. Eve players feel that money spent on dust should of been spent on fixing pos' etc. OR dust should of been MORE integrated. I'm glad legion is coming, if only that maybe ccp will link in a way that makes me WANT to give a crap about it. I understand that ccp was fearful that if dust was tied to eve too much, and it went under it would drag eve with it. But they REALLY should take the plunge and tangle them together. Otherwise make it stand alone game that is not remotely tied to eve at all, none of this half assed middle ground hat snot really middle ground |
