Edited by: Wizerud on 25/05/2006 08:49:24 So I've got a friend who just started playing Eve. This was our conversation last night:
Friend: "Damn dude there's like 40 cargo containers just lying around here..." Me: "Where you at?" Friend: "Perimeter, at the Jita stargate. **** it, I'm gonna loot 'em!" Me: "Ok be careful! The owners will be able to fire on you if they come back. Who do they belong to?" Friend: "State War Academy. All of them"
couple of minutes later....
Friend: "That's weird. All of the owners of these cans are 4 day old characters"
He loots them all. Comes back an hour later and the same thing happens. Another 30+ cans, all at the gate, all belonging to SWA. So that got me thinking. How is it possible that all those cans could be littered around the gate unless someone, or a group of people, are running missions, perhaps involving killing pirates at the stargate? And how is it possible that they are getting the same mission over and over?

Perhaps...
...all the newbie L1 mission runners (who start in newbie zones, such as Jita) are doing the L1 missions that require engaging enemies close to the stargates? That same mission that gets offered over and over? (Forgot name of it, but it was common mission)
Seriously... the odds of newbie-age players doing newbie-level missions in newbie-zones, and being in newbie-NPC corps?
Let alone trying to loot all the can-drops in that newbie ship, in one scoop.

State War Academy has over 1000 members, who start right next to Jita. It's quite likely that there's just lots of them doing missions in the same place

The Blockade, if I recall correctly.

If it is a player doing the missions for reward, standing or LP alone.
It's pretty much bound to be a load of crap loot anyways.
Lanfear's Bane. _ _ _ _ _
Now that's irony |

why don't you ask your mate if they belong to the same person ? i am sure the cans show who "owns " them when you click on info if its the same person doing them then you got proof if its 20 deffrant people then your theory is screwed

Your friend could always convo the owners to find out if they want the loot. I'm pretty sure that SWA has a public channel in game too. It's pretty likely that these players are grinding standings or LP.
This signature is a tribute to the greatest signature of all time. It's not the greatest signature ever, it's just a... Tribute!! |

That's why the subject includes the word Possible.
And yes the cans belonged to numerous owners all of whom were 4 days old. Not 3, not 5, 4.

Not to be rude to anyone that posted above, but ignorance is bliss eh?
Yes, there are macro programs that run missions. 7 caracal pilots, all 7 days old, all running missions out of the same station seen weeks ago in Lonetrek. They only run missions which can be run with the current version macro (blockade (The one at the stargates) being one of them). These macros do need some human interaction to talk with the agent, decline missions that are not suitable for the macro and accept missions that are.
Its not coincidence when 7, 7 day old, n00b corp, chick chars come one after another out of the station in a line (as the 'worker' presses "accept mission" --> undock) down the line of computers in his musky basement.
Just wait, they will start selling the macro on ebay like they do for the mining macro.
How is that profitable for them you say? Because now those 7 day old toons I saw in Lonetrek are flying Ravens doing lvl III's.
Next time try convoing them, they will decline or will take 5 minutes to respond as the 'worker' goes from computer to computer to check progress.
I have no sig, because I can't compress my picture down that far. It looks like crapola. |

This seems like a perfectly reasonable suggestion except for one little thing.
Anybody who actually did want to gank you would surely lie wouldn't they?
